- Join me as I open up about the difficulties of forcing myself to paint quickly... It took a lot of self control but I think it was worth it, even though I totally broke some unwritten rules of speedpainting.. I guess this is more of a table top ready look but yknow.

I am similar in that i don't like speedpainting, especially since I am in the hobby FOR painting and not playing, which means i see no point in rushing through 10s of miniatures, though lately I've come to appreciate some parts of speed painting, namely stuff like sponge painting to get over the initial boring part of basecoating and getting the first blends on a mini and also contrast paints for certain things (not as a one and done basecoat, but for shading, or aimed application)
I have never painted any miniatures but would like to. I thonk, mixing skills from speed painting could leave more time for painting fine detail. Like with sponge painting for base coats.

I'm always conflicted on speed painting. On one hand it's kinda necessary to get things done but on the other hand it kills all the fun for me.
Especially batch painting it's the most unfun shit ever 😅

For squads, vehicles or terrain I go with a looks good at arms length level of painting. I spend more time and effort on characters as a reward for completing a squad, vehicle or terrain. I have a couple of Kill Teams I have chosen to treat as characters. I am trying to push my boundaries on these and am happy with the results so far.

This might sound like a dumb question; but did you apply the zenithal via an airbrush or can? I ask because the gradient wasn't exactly smooth and I kinda dig it. (Also I was curious whether you could actually apply a zenithal without using the scary airbrush lol)
I used an airbrush, but honestly, I prefer doing it via rattlecan BECAUSE of the lack of smoothness. I like making the characters look more rough and gritty. Citadel's cans are really good for that c:
I'm currently speed painting the entire SM side of the leviathan box. It's hell at first but becomes kinda easy after the first 3.
I love your take on the Blooded! It's my fave Kill Team, and watching this vid filled me with a lot of joy. Love your vids, and I can;t wait to see what you have in store for the Enforcer and the Ogryn.

I'm trying to do a creepy skin tone for my Blooded and yours looks great! Do you remember the ratio between Red Tone and Purple Tone? Also, did you thin down the Peachy Flesh?
no thinning on the peachy flesh, and the red/purple tone is 1:1 c:

@@shartsmcginty8056 of course! Be sure the peachy flesh is properly shaken before applying it. It'll be very thin and downright transparent without doing so
@@MishMashPainting I followed the steps, but at the end, I used a 2:1:1 mix of Peachy Flesh, Bony Matter, and Speedpaint Medium rather than just Peachy Flesh. Turned out great!
