    I used an ultra wide panoramic rear view mirror inside the car to see to the sides. Here are the test mpgs from different highway speeds-
    50mph highway gives 87-92mpg
    55mph - 80-85mpg
    60mph- 70-75mpg
    65mph - 64-67mpg

    I’ve been doing some research to increase the efficiency of my ‘23 Bolt EUV. I’m making a 100 mile per day RT to work 6 days per week. Changes in efficiency for me aren’t as financially dramatic as yours, but I still want rear wheel skirts and more aero wheels. GM did not design OEM Bolt wheels for aerodynamic efficiency.
    My research into stick-on/bolt-on rubber skirts indicate that the company you want to look into is ALL-FIT. These guys use a solid rubber compound whereas other companies use foam rubber that is not as sturdy. The unrealized eco benefit to these is that you can put the skirt wherever you want- underbody structure permitting. For example- behind your front wheels instead of following the body line to the wheel, you could angle the skirt inside to gather some of the turbulent air behind the wheel and force it out. Also, instead of following the body line of the bumper lip, a skirt could be used as a wedge to drive air from under the lip to the sides. ALL-FIT’s product is sturdy enough to protect bumper lips from scrapes due to steep road angles, so you could use it around your rear wheel skirts.
    I hope that helps, and I’ll definitely be researching following your rear wheel skirts for my vehicle sometime when I have spare time- kinda hard to get stuff done when working 6 days per week. 👍

    Its beautiful. I want to do the same with my prius. Did you bolt the metal skirt right into the car body or did you use riv-nuts? Also have you looked into the front of the car? Like an extended splitter, lowering the front suspension, or even a grill block? I've toyed with the idea of adjustable grill shutters that open or close depending on the car's temperature. I just haven't gotten around to implementing it.

      My car already has adjustable grill shutters since it’s a modern car. I drilled the skirts into the body the first few times I put the fender skirts on, but then at the end of last summer I put riv nuts in place instead so I can take them on and off over and over again for tire rotation and balance and all that. Plus I take them off in winter for my snow tires and then put them on in spring

      But the down hill part tho, you can coast into Neutral, or regn if possible

    • @ouch9326
      @ouch9326 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @toyota prius you should speed downhills because more speed less torque. regen braking is less effceint than preserving momentum around turns, gte anti way bar etc sporty stuff and cut weight, more energy in and out battery decreases longveity

    My 2022 gets 64mpg going to Tucson but looses it all on the way home into the wind. for a round trip 240.4miles it averages out to 47.7mpg or 596miles to a tank

      Yeah head winds really kill mpg big time.

    WAIT WHAT ABOUT THE FRONT WHEEL S? CANT YOU DO SOMETHING OFF THE SPINDLE SKIRT ?

    • @PhaseSkater
      @PhaseSkater  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people make front wheel skirts that move outwards when you turn the wheels, but that requires. A lot of tinkering and too much work and time for me to do. Best thing for front is full wheel cover/hubcaps that are smooth and have no openings, and then try and fill in the wheel arch gap. It’s not perfectly smooth, but it can do a lot if you make the whole area flush

      @@PhaseSkater I Did see a dude put moon hubcaps on his TDI front and rear to reduce drag. but what i ment is attach something to the front spindle because the spindle doesnt spin and is threded.

    • @PhaseSkater
      @PhaseSkater  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah moon caps have been an aero mod since the beginning of time. They work. On super super long road trips, I actually duct tape over the slots/holes in my hubcabs for better aero and a fully flat wheel. Don’t really need brake cooling when cruising on highway

    I’m wondering if lowering it would help

    • @PhaseSkater
      @PhaseSkater  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes lowering helps with mpg. I don’t know how much and I wouldn’t do coil overs since I need ground clearance. My next car will have air suspension
