I Ruined These Shoes | Don't Try This Bleach Method!

- We ruined these shoes with bleach. Luckily we were able to save this custom and turn it into something amazing!
When Rit Dye sent over a huge care package, we knew Vick Almighty was going to cook up something special. Just a few weeks ago Vick made a Dip-Dyed custom Jordan that turned out great, and this Tie-Dye custom Jordan 1 is no different.
The idea was to bleach the Denim Air Jordan 1 and then dye it with Rit Dye. However the first pair was ruined. Vick submerged the shoes in bleach for 30 minutes, and this completely ruined the leather.
Luckily we were able to grab another pair from our sneaker store Many Worlds, and used a brush to apply the bleach to only the denim instead. Let this be a lesson: DON'T bleach leather shoes!
Time to add some color to this mostly white Jordan! There were a lot of colors of Rit Dye to choose from. Vick decided to work with some of the sunset tones…yellow, blue, orange, purple, pink, and teal. In contrast to the last dyed custom where Vick mixed the dye with water and submerged the shoes, he opted to apply the dye straight onto the material using a squeeze bottle.
Dyeing the shoes this way produced much brighter tones, but was much easier to mess up. Applying dye directly onto the material doesn’t give you any room for error. Thank goodness Vick has the hands of a surgeon!
Vick also added some custom Nike logos and redid the tongue tags to really bring this custom to life. Then he painted the leather to match the sole, and finished it off with a the Dremel to give the denim a distressed look and feel.
Do you like how these turned out? It’s been really fun to experiment with new ways to customize shoes and to get Vick out of his comfort zone!

To dye cleanly without staining the other parts, you can use a wool dauber, Vic. Anyway, your gradations are cool. Unfortunately, it's hard to get a good synthetic dye like Rit in my country 😩

The ending result came out fire the rainbow like denim reminds me of the J Balvin Jordan 1s and the Nike text where the wings logo used to be also reminds me of the Nike Team Convention Highs

Does that dye rub off on other cloth if you wear it and it gets wet? Like say floor boards of a vehicle
it shouldn't if you let it dry
Maybe use a graffiti empty mop marker and fill it with dye, you have more control

I wouldn’t have did those to my denim 1 but I think if you would’ve went to a more solid color like black denim could’ve went crazy

Vick, Jordan brand uses the worst leather imaginable and the outside of it isn't even leather. It's coated with a plastic material and embossed with a fake leather pattern. Try to burn the outside of a Jordan leather and you'll see the top layer melts. Watch some of Rose Anvils reviews of Jordans. It's eye opening.

i did this too but got lucky and only one hole ripped ion my white leather which i painted up instantly after dry
If I rit dye shoe laces will they rub onto white leather?
I was thinking about using rit for my Jordan 4 white cement. The material underneath the netting has turned yellow…do you think rit would work on that? Again, its not for the entire shoe, its just the marerial underneath the netting
We have personally never tried it. I can ask Vick what he thinks would happen.

So I already had the angelus paint and you guys did something similar on the Jordan 4 white cement but you guys airbrushed it and used 2-thin. I dont have an air brush so my question is what do you think if I used the white angelus paint with 2 thin but I brushed it on instead of air brush? I think im gonna try it either way but if you have any thoughts ill take em…thanks for getting back tomme
