Pants length is an infuriating issues for me haha as a 5’8 guy 30” inseam is perfect but most pants sold here is 32”. It just doesn’t make any sense as men here stand 5’6-5’8 (numbers are pure from my own observation) and 32 is the norm while it is just too long. The only jeans that fits me is Levi’s 502, it’s a match sent from heaven for me.
The Break for me depends on the shoes I select for that outfit. That bounces from a slight break (lace-ups) to no break (boots/loafers). I hem my jeans to achieve the look I desire so I break the natural rule to achieve fit.
that's the thing w/ cuffing too, like sometimes a no-break with a sneak is a half break with a chelsea. So I like to cuff as necessary to always have that no-break situation
I’m so frustrated anymore. Never had this problem much. Now at 35 years old, I’m 5’8ish… some 30 length feels sooo short and 32 is dragging. Most 32” length are long. I’ve even measured my AE jeans comparing 30 to 32 and it was a 3.5” difference in length.
@3:13: in my opinion, that’s way too short. You’re 5’9" wearing a 28" inseam. I’m 5’9" and at minimum, I need a 32" inseam, sometimes even a 34" inseam. If I wore a 28" inseam, they would look pretty much on par with how you’re rocking those pants (maybe even a bit higher) - in my opinion, "high water" or "flood" pants.
Absolutely perfect length for jeans. Looks a bit shorter than it is because he's wearing loafers with no socks but the jeans touch and slightly break off the top of his foot. For slacks/pants it's still a decent length although you might want a tad longer. Great variance exists as to legs to torso ratios.
Im 5'7 (172cm) and usually wear jeans with 29" inseam in jeans(i must hemmed them because 30 " is a little too much)give me half break and its my choice because give me flexibility to go cuff for slight or no break look. My advice is when you tailored jeans dont only look at you inseam lenht but overall jeans lenght, Different rises can vary about inseam you want
Hmm, but when you measure from the inseam, it goes from crotch seam to cuff, so overall rise doesn't affect the inseam length. If you measure overall jeans length (from waistband to cuff) then yes, this can change.
True about the pants style over the decades. ;) Back in the day, where I'm from, if you wore any jeans short than a half a break, we called them highwaters and got laughed at. 😒
I am 6’3” I wear 32L and it gives me quarter to half break. You don’t talk about when you actually sit, jeans with no break makes you look like you just have very long shorts 😅, not pants. However for dress pants it has to be 34L.
I'm 5ft 5 and nothing fits me well. Going to the tailors for the first time today after me and the wife can agree what break looks good and what looks like I just shrunk my jeans!
depends on your inseam length! some people have long torsos and short legs, others have short torsos and long legs. I'm guessing the avg for your height is around a 32" inseam, but you have to try a few pairs at diff lengths to see what works best
@@tyskioo 32 works good for me. If you want to show sock when you sit down, try 30. I think 34 could be far too long. 32 will touch the ground if i let my pants sag and will be above my heel if i hoist my drawers way up
break depends on what outfit you want to go for that day and how you are going to carry that type of style it can look soo cool or really tacky not much in between but you're definitely right about no break when dressing sharp, it needs to be just right. to me though, dressing smart everywhere would get boring, need to let loose the creativity and uniqueness sometimes not like harajuku street fashion tho that's a bit too much for me =D

Is it ok to wear full break on jeans? I am 5 foot 9 and when i wear 32 inseam jeans, I get full break but I kind of like it that way. Just a ordinary kid in high school. But when i wear pants that aren't jeans when I wear 32 inseam pants sort of like trousers but not really, I get half break. If I wear skinny jeans i get Mid break at 32 inseam, I am growing too i'm only 16 and 7 month late bloomer, I do have longer than average legs for my height and if I cuffed my jeans 2 inches I would probably have no break or slight break. Last year when i was around 5 foot 5, 30 inseam was long like it was almost at ground when i wore shoes but now they are at top of my shoe or slightly higher.
I’m 6’5. 34” inseam seems fine without shoes but slightly too short with shoes on. So I usually have to get 36” for this reason but sometimes they look a little long. Wish I could consistently find 35” inseam
Right there with ya man. Same height, same problem. Usually a 36” fits perfect, but sometimes they are a bit longer. It could be the exact same style and company, but one is just longer. I’ve worn a 34” a couple times now. It’s fine with shoes on but def wish they were a tad longer without shoes. Maybe I just need to get used to this high-water look. Kids used to get made fun of in middle school for this look where I’m from, lol.
Same. I’m 6’2 with a 32” inseam, I think my torso is longer than my legs.. anyway, I buy 32” length and after a wash/dry cycle I feel like they’re too short and it creates a bell-bottom look so I wish there was a 33” length jean size. I just ordered some 34” length jeans so let’s see how it goes. I think as long as I don’t wear Converse shoes(which I don’t) I should be fine.
But the things of long jeans they look kind of normal with high top sneakers but ones you don't got sneakers on you have to walk around with the jeans bottom folded so you don't be stepping on them

Yeah, that can be tough. My suggestion would be Levi's and Bonobos. They seem to have the most waist x length combos. They can be much more than $40 though. If it were me, I'd save up for 1-2 great pairs of pants, instead of buying 10 pairs of cheap pants that all suck.
