as a big guy I think the recent trend of companies putting out athletic cut jeans has been a style game changer. I carry most of my excess weight in my torso and my thighs really aren't that crazy big, and so for years it was either wear straight jeans that fit me at the waist and have my calves and ankles swallowed whole by excess fabric, or wear slim jeans and look like humpty dumpty. With more relaxed jeans being more on trend these days, buying the tapered athletic cuts let me have that somewhat relaxed look in the thighs without drowning my legs in denim from the knee down. My favorite jeans are either the easy guy cut from naked and famous or the relaxed taper from unbranded. Both of which would normally taper perhaps too sharply for most people, but being 5' 10" with a longer torso and shorter legs, I tend to prefer the higher rise which helps even out my proportions, and then I get them hemmed which makes that taper look less agressive and probably the best look i've had in years when it comes to my denim.

I have muscular legs and usually grab a pair that fits my thighs well then get the waist and below the legs tapered. Off the rack, usually a taper fit seems to fit me best. Either the 541 athletic or the Levi’s 512s one waist size up from my normal size fits great

    • @alexcrowder1673
      @alexcrowder1673 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I literally can't even put 512s on. My waist is 28-30 but pants that small have narrow leg holes. SInce i have thick calves, literally nothing made past 2014 fits me. Its like pants are getting thinner and thinner no matter what "cut" you get... i get saving the environment but what about my leg hair and testicles? Dont they have a say in this? Lol.

I'm in the lean muscular category so jeans have been a struggle for years. FINALLY I found the fit that is best for me. It's the Athletic Fit jeans by American Eagle. Really comfortable tapered style and has extra room in the thighs. I'm 5'9" 195lbs, 33" waist. The 34x32 is a mid rise with a slight break in sneakers. In Boots they just cover the laces. PERFECT for bodybuilders like me. I've got them in undestressed black, gray, dark denim, and white. I was skeptical about the white but I get complemented by women saying they like white jeans on guys 🤷‍♂️. I'll take it.

My thighs and calfs are too muscular and made the athletic straight look like a slim. It's always better to get the straight pant regular. Sometime the length can get hard to find for bigger men I try not to have my pants stack at he ankle area but sometimes u gotta buy wats available or wait for more products to get shipped in. Polo jeans are great they have a stretch to them and with a regular or straight fit they are so comfortable on big men and look tighter/fitted without showing off my backside when bending over lol. So muscular men shoudn’t show their ankles with chino pants or jeans?

Muscular you mean fit guys. How about big muscular guys like myself, with 34 waist and 30 inch legs... Can't find the perfect fit. I have to use loose pants and taper then with tailor

If you're muscular I have some brands that might work for you.
    Duer relax fit
    Dsltd
Lucky brand 363 (get them tapered)
    Levi's 541 (levi's flex version) less than 98% cotton.
Everlane athletic 4 way stretch denim and chinos.

No man should ever wear low rise jeans. Light wash jeans specifically the 501s looks great on a person who is in decent shape.

    Low rise no crotch room?

She is wrong about the rise. Low rise will make your stomach look bigger if u have a longer torso and have weight in that area.

i agree, thats why mid rise is best with guys with a belly.

You are neither muscular or chubby so how can you do this video . . . My waist is 60 inches but can't find my waist size in inches.

I'm chubby and I can't stand chubby dudes who where skinny or highly tapered pants. Great advice here.

For us gym bros, this guide is wack. I'm not wearing regular fit. Steve Cook should have been consulted for this video.

Actually did a video with Steve about this on his channel... As mentioned in the video - EVERY brand has different measurements and names for their cuts. Hence why we give you the measurements to do yourself so you can disregard the things that vary by brand.

@@MensFashioner Yea I know, thats why I mentioned him. That said, he wears tight fitting pants so again measurements dont matter.
