    Quote 100% (19:57). UV layout can not be done by the modeller for me too. Also i add that, as a texture artist, you should teach what’s important too keep in mind when modelling, like for instance straightening an arc shell, expecially if you are gonna work with the same person for a long time. This will improve the speed of teamworking as hell

  • @irkendragon

    If you don't use zremesher, what process do you use to give your sculpt good topology? I'd like to hear more about the process of setting up a mesh's topology/UV's to make use of tileable textures.

  • @KRGraphicsCG
    @KRGraphicsCG 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've been using Substance Designer for generating high res alphas for some of my creatures and because it automatically tiles, it is perfect for sculpting. And I have started doing work with UDIMs and I split the model in such a way that I can get my extreme details, and keep the animation mesh intact...

    yeah joined during covid in texture/lookdev and pretty much everyone is working in isolation. Generating curvature maps in Substance and doing manual painting is the norm, where the modeler just hands it off. Great to hear the experience isn't the same everywhere.

      As for the latter part of your comment, Yup. Mari tutorials online are virtually non existent. Flipped normals provides a pretty rare and appreciated insight into the VFX industry, in fact to say we're lucky to have them would be a grotesque understatement. Unfortunately, I can't recall practically any videos on the entire interwebs demonstrating actual hands on texturing something from 0 to 100 as a tutorial that isn't older than three years in Mari, except perhaps the yiihuu vagrant one and that's Maya only, not in english and one of the very..very few.
