    I'd be interested to see a deeper dive on the transitional mesh process. How those are textured and implemented.

    That teeth to gum transitional mesh is such a nice detail. I knew it was often used for the eyes but hadn't thought of it for the teeth. Love those subtle details. Got a sub from me.

    Hey Jared, cool video, it's nice to see your approach. I'm a Texture artist and if I can share something with you it would be to multiply your AO at the end of your edge wear mask. Usually the edges are broken and scratched because they are the first point of contact but the edges in cavity areas are not really exposed. It makes sense to have dirt accumulating in the cavity but not so much to have edge wear in those cavity. Also, Gold doesn't rust :D

    Hey nice work Jared! You’ll want to turn on your background in substance painter while texturing(preferably tomoco studio since it’s a neutral light). It’s not possible to accurately color correct otherwise. It’ll look a bit weird having a clear studio background, but your textures will benefit a lot from establishing realistic values. It was a standard that really helped me personally a lot while working on textures for COD. Keep up the great work!

    Love this video and thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is my first time hearing the term transitional mesh and seeing it used as a tool to soften borders between two surfaces. Can you go into how that works in a quick video and how you apply them in your work. I can see the shapes of the meshes in this video when you select them but I am not sure what setting or texturing process you use on those pieces to make it so that they blur the edges between two surfaces.

    • @jchave7
      @jchave7  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, maybe in the future I can go more into that. It’s purely a strip of Geo that covers the seams between both meshes. For example the tooth to gums. I place a strip over that edge and use transparency and roughness to make a kind of blur between the models. That’s really all it is.

    Hi Jared, first of all I really love your content, the best tricks and methods to texture in substance painter I have only founded in your channel. Happy to learn from you :). the Second is I was actively following the full process for texturing the Orc in Painter but it seems they are all now private, I also could not find them in the live section. So I was wondering if you could enable them again or perhaps I could purchase them somewhere. I am really interested in those of Zartha. I would really appreciate that. thank you

    Hello Jared.
    Small question: To do character texturing in the industry, do you have to be a character artist, or, can you be a general texture artist that can do organic and hard surface texturing?

    • @jchave7
      @jchave7  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Character artist in games aren’t specialized to only doing textures. They’re making the character from start to finish. You’ll do both organic or hardsurface depending on the characters but texturing is usually pretty much up to the character artist

    @jared Technically gold is one of the least reactive metals, So the rust on the helmet was added on the implication it was an amalgam of gold and some cheap metal correct? Just asking as i got flak once for adding rust to a crown haha. where i somewhat explained out of it haha.

    • @jchave7
      @jchave7  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha 🤷🏽 I mean that’s probably the science behind it but I mean it’s an orc….. that doesn’t exist so I think rust on a good crown is probably ok to get away with. Sometimes you make art direction choices that don’t adhere to reality. That’s the fun of art is making things that don’t exist. Obviously grounding in reality is a must but also can be broken as long as it doesn’t break suspension of disbelief

    Love this serie! I was wondering. Were you baking your mesh into the same file that you were renderingyour images? Is it better to setup 2 different files or 1 file is fine?

    • @jchave7
      @jchave7  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do a separate bake file so that I can iterate or make revisions if I need to. It’s better in my opinion to keep the 2 seperate
