1989. What a great time. Driving around in my 1981 Chevy Camaro Z28 with headbanging rock blasting thru the Alpine on 11. Little did we know there were bands in Seattle rehearsing in back rooms and warehouses to come along and take it all away in 1991.

@jamesdeprato4959 - Ah yes, The Headbangers Ball. The last episode had Ricki Rachtman (hope i spelled it right) with his long hair, and his last song aired was a poison song. Metal was allegedly on its way out. This was when 90's alternative was on it's way in. Almost overnight, Rachtman cut his hair off, and embraced a whole new style of music. I had given up on new music all together because I refused to change just because some Alternative (expletive deleted) told me I had too. I had given up on new music all together, and then, I heard Deicide, and I had a new purpose in life. Metal was making a huge comeback. I still listen to old school Death metal to this day. The only bad thing is the newer stuff is so watered down (nu-metal - metalcore - etc.) just to get a bunch of rednecks to buy t' shirts. Sorry, but any metal band that has these types wearing their T- shirts is not doing their job.

Lots of gatekeeping in the comments for what is metal and what's good here. I found it all entertaining in some way. Some of it was awesome. Some of it was awesomely bad. As an 11-year-old at the time I was just hoping for the occasional Iron Maiden video to pop up. I should have settled for Queensryke because they have a similar sound.
