My father bought a vector battery charger when I was 15 years old. I'm 63 years old....and still using the same charger. Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it.
My dad bought this charger from home depot about maby 2-3 months ago, I had to try it today and ill let you guys know on an update. The battery in one of my dads car is either dead or too old because its 5 years old but hey it wouldn't hurt to try. Ill give it a few hours and see what happens. If it doesnt want to crank on its own power then i know for sure its the battery! Amazing video! Very Helpful!
I recently purchased this charger.B ut it is a Black and Decker. I looked it up and Vector sold out to Black and Decker in 2006. I purchased an AGM bttery for my generator. But the battery was shelf dead. I hooked it up a charger but it wouldn't hold a charge long enough to start it. So I looked around and found this charger. I hooked it up and put it into recondition cycle for 36 hours. Then I put a full charge into. Well it's been 3 weeks and it's still holding a charge.
This battery charger is branded with different names, the Vector as seen here, Black & Decker, and Stanley. Perhaps some others. I have the B&D and I like it.

This is the third video I looked at, but the only one that explained what the readings mean for each function. Great job. I actually have a Stanley 15 amp charger, but it looks and functions almost exactly the same.
It does output 50 Amps during the 60 sec boost cycle. That's why it needs a 5 min cooldown. Even if it's only 60% efficient about 11 Amps will be drawn from the wall outlet during a boost.
To address the comments, This doesn't just charge your battery it also reconditions it. The use is more for reconditioning that anything Cause it's not for portable use. You will need to plug this into a AC outlet to use it. I would say this pairs well with a jump starter. Because if your battery died then it needs to be reconditioned.
Another thing to mention is to make sure you’re using the correct gauge of extension cord if you have to use one. Don’t use a light duty cord. I have a 100ft 10g 20a cord and it does just fine. It suggests an 8g at 100ft if it’s charging over 16amps, but that is kinda overkill. That, and a good extension cable can be kinda expensive. i bought the same thing at home depot last week from black and decker version. I am going to charge my battery out of my 1996 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 which has a no power no start problem since September 2020. it has a new battery since September, October new alternator, February 2021 new stater. it has been really cold, snow, ice in the teens for highs and lows since December it has run since. the battery is low so going to charge it then put it back in and hope it starts up and keeps running. was running, shut it off, no power or start. will try your video.
You didn't explain the battery recondition process. For those who may not know. My instructions says to check the battery make sure you have a charged battery first, by using the charge button, or the engine start button to get the battery up to be able to recondition. After that reset and hit the reconditon button let it work by itself for 24 hours!!! Do not touch or tamper with it. After 24 hours it will automatically go into charging mode until it hits the float mode which means that the recondition process is complete. You can float charge your battery for about a half hour or so. If it is a dead battery than youu can repeat this process 2 more times if needed to make sure it holds a charge.
I think that's something I can use, I mostly work out of my garage or on the road (mobile mechanic) so I'm usually working on one vehicle at a time besides at $60 I can buy 2 just to have one in my wife's car. I do do a lot of diesel work so I'll have my Clore jump 'n' carry to help jump those when necessary.
It's a pretty cheap unit for what it does. You got the idea, you still have the Clore for the "real" jump-starts. These chargers are great to place on the battery while you're working on the car. So many electronics in our vehicles these days, so they drain the battery fast when they're not running. ...you know that better than us. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great video, a lot of positive vibes. I noticed you plugged the charger in to an extension cord before hook up. Will it function with out plugging in the charger. For instance - if I’m in the parking garage and the car will crank put is just having a tough time starting.
I have a charger and because there is no cord management is the pain in the ass to connect them to the battery because the positive in the negative if you don’t have the cord management can collide and just freaking short the shit out of the charger so the cord management is amazing
I connected to a battery to charge and immediately it went to “Battery Recond” mode. I left it connected for 10 hours and ots still just reading “battery recond” does this mean its nit charging at all?
Trying this charger now. I am trying this with the battery removed. I will give you my absolute honest opinion. It seems very light for a battery charger, but the performance is the tell all.
Does this work in a motorcycle battery? When I connect the cables and hit the charge buttons the screen shuts off after a few seconds. Is my charger just faulty or am I doing something wrong
Was looking for instructions for EVERSTART BC50BE -- apart from Vector's better cord management, this appears to be same product, rebranded! Thx for the video!

Yes, it does. It's not a battery jump box. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews ok thank you
Thanks. Very informative.
You didn’t show how do you unplug the alternator wire Except that he was excellent
Sorry about that. Thanks for watching.
So this is not a PORTABLE charger?
How long does the battery recondition cycle last ?
Another video addressed this and said 24 hours to run the battery up and down several cycles.
@@HorseTVGlobal, thank you. I actually did 2 days, but only ended up with 2.8.... I'm guessing this battery is shot.
I thought this was a jump starter. Going to be returning this. Label was misleading. I hate that.
No, it's a battery charger with a starter option that boosts the Amperage. Must be plugged in. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching.
I connected to a battery to charge and immediately it went to “Battery Recond” mode. I left it connected for 10 hours and ots still just reading “battery recond” does this mean its nit charging at all?
good question..... answer?
Mine does the same, it’s been longer then 10 hours.. I can’t find any info on what that means. Hopefully someone has an answer
In another question he said it takes like 24 hours to recond the battery.
Says in manual recon take over 24 hours then it'll enter charge mode
I left mine charged for days and it didn’t remove from recon. Had to take it to our auto mechanic to bring the battery back to life.
Trying this charger now. I am trying this with the battery removed. I will give you my absolute honest opinion. It seems very light for a battery charger, but the performance is the tell all.
Let us know what you think. Thanks for watching.
Does this work in a motorcycle battery? When I connect the cables and hit the charge buttons the screen shuts off after a few seconds. Is my charger just faulty or am I doing something wrong
Wow, that seems wierd. If it shuts off, then you may have a faulty charger. I'd exchange it. Thanks for watching.
The Video never mentioned how long it took to charge the battery on the bench..?? Nor how long it takes to recondition the failing battery ??
That all depends on the battery, and how dead it is. Reconditioning should always take overnight to 24-hours. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews it feels like forever to even see the black part of battery to fill.
Can it amp down for use on a motorcycle battery?
Was looking for instructions for EVERSTART BC50BE -- apart from Vector's better cord management, this appears to be same product, rebranded! Thx for the video!
If you have to plug it in before it can start the car it makes no sense what if you are on the road
Exactly. No sense to me. 🙄
Can you charge a lithium battery with it?
Depends on the battery, but yes, you should be able to.
Does anyone know if it will charge lithium ion batteries?
can you run the battery recon mode without taking the battery off the car?
You can do it in the car, but we'd recommend removing the battery cables. Thanks for watching.
Black & Decker product?
why is this identical to everstart???
Exactly same. One as Everstart Maxx hmmm makes me suspicious. Who actually makes these???? Same as the Black and Decker as well
So this thing is not portable??
😂😂😂
Should have tried it on a stone dead battery. The example used is not very helpful. My battery Icon is flashing instead of going from empty to full.
Sorry that it wasn't more helpful. Thanks for watching.
Hi can it be left on all the time as a trickle charger or true battery maintainer
Yes, it can. It will automatically sense the battery and trickle charge. At the same time, I wouldn't buy this in the place of a Battery Tender or a dedicated trickle charger. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews thanks so much for the response and it was a great review!
This is not a portable charge ? U have to plug it in
It just flashes for me. I can't get it to work.
Have you tried it on more than one battery?
The Vee-Hickle annoyed me LOL
Sorry about that, we'll do better next time. lol. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews Lol. Thanks for the review! Happy New Year from Philadelphia!
Anyone else notice the spam bots in the comment sections lately?
Sorry about that. You would think they could filter these out better. Thanks for watching.
Mine broke after 15 months of light use...no refund from Vector
