You forgot to show the (imo) worst attack she can trow at you, the one where she put all exploding crystals in a ring formation.
That attack is the one I think will kill most of people against her
Yep unfortunately she didnt do that attack but its the same as the other spiral attack, you go around the center
I died many times to this attack; but after many many attempts I finally defeated the shopkeeper... and then died to a tier 1 Selicy
my favorite way to deal with the crystals is to shove them at her and have her die from them. :>
@@esty8nine What's the cue of when to move? You go around the circle, but so does the attack, so if you're off cycle, you just take every single hit.

A good way to cheese the fight is to pick up Soul Link and survive until you see her throw out the ice pillar attack (6:50). Bop her with Soul Link, and when she nukes the pillars she'll one-shot herself.
I once tried a Viruspell + Deck Slam build and copied Viruspell without turning her hostile until Deck Slam could one-shot her; that's how I learned the hard way that your deck resets when she turns hostile lol
Lol yep. Tried the same thing with a shiso run and Sera cannon (had 7000 money and two Sera cannons with double cast)

Took me 3 tries, your guide was pretty good except for her last attack (That got me) where she summons a bunch of crystals that explodes. The pattern is very similar to the clockwise one, but it caught me off guard.

After watching this video, I was able to defeat/unlock the shopkeeper in about 4 or 5 attempts, thank you. The first couple attempts had the exploding crystal attacks, but the attempt I succeeded in did not.
What about the ice mines attack? For me it was the only attack I had problems with.

this video is greatly informative and helped me unlock her, but for anyone who hates not having every character unlocked, uh, read more
the gun dude is busted. start a new game and if the first boss isn't the shield maiden, restart. kill every hostage with your gun, take every route for treasure, and set focus onto phalanx and whatever stops opponents from moving, spare the shield maiden and on the next stage, go for the shopkeeper. dont spend money, then shoot her a bunch.
absolutely busted and not very fun, but I hated having a locked character, so there's a cheese tactic.

I sat and tried this fight over and over when I first got to game to unlock shopkeeper. Was interesting to see another method of avoiding the first attack you showed. Sound cues are my best fired here and I just move up a tile from the center of the attack. Lets you lay on more damage, but it's a little riskier I suppose. Nice guide. Good to know all my losses are from me just not executing the stats effectively.

Cool. I actually had a completley different strategy for a world 2 shopkeeper fight, use Gunner world seed Reva: fight and spare Reva, going for the treasure route take the center option. Have double glimmer as focus asap. Knowing the patterns is still inportant, but this way you gen get a bit of extra fighting power and support to fall back on.
there are so many cool ways to pull it up ! =)
For her attack that encases the tiles around your area, if you have a spell that brings you away from your area (think Step Slash), you can actually time it to dodge her massive attack. Of course, another thing you could do is just facetank the ice she throws on you by moving all the way to the front. The damage she deals is much lesser than getting trapped and taking the massive hit.
not that attack man, when she's low she sometimes does an alternate version of that move, like the comment said, exploding crystals in a ring formation.
I have no idea how to dodge that attack and I agree that this guide is absolute trash thanks to that, there's also another pattern he never mentioned but I don't know how to describe it.
I guess this video's strat for those attacks is "don't have them happen against you"
Still haven't managed to beat her quite yet, but i def. am a lot more consistently dodging atks now thanks to this video, so thanks a lot!
Just beat her! Then my switch immediately crashed . . . between the crashes and framerate issues, I've really not been having a good time playing this on the switch; hopefully these issues are fixed soon
@@nejiha For what it's worth, I have played for like 20 hours and have gotten no crashes at all. Framerate issues can be annoying though. From what I hear, there is a patch coming.

SHOPKEEPER LIKA A LASTBOSS
Very little will see this I imagine but it is similar to the sans fight from undertale scary at first but a complete pushover once you finally start to pay attention and learn instead of panicking
This is makes particular sense due to the attack where she pulls you to a side and you have to get away in time, like the sans fight
Anyone else notice the damage she does to the ice pillars?
Yeah, you can reflect that with Reva. If you get a Shield Beam and she casts that attack while on the same row that the missile lands, you can clear the pillars with the beam and then hit her with the reflected attack for big damage. Helped me beat her with on stage 1 as a new player.
The issue isn't unlocking her, it's unlocking Solo Saffron. As you point out, taking enough damage from her that the actual boss kills you isn't difficult, and you can't even hope they'll spare you because you aren't Reva. (For those playing at home, Reva with enough mana regeneration can kill Serif in the "scripted" ending of the Neutral route, letting you backdoor into the Genocide ending)
As someone who runs Saffron mostly I feel like it is much safer to engage her in second loop. She has higher health but her patterns ain’t much different and having far more relics meaning it is way easier to tank her attacks now. When she uses the ultimate crystal she isn’t moving at all so it is possible for Saffron to simply outlive her by spamming higher damage spells.
Nice boss guide as always, really helps understanding what's happening with all the action we don't have time to think while in combat. I think it could have been nice to add one more tricks to beat her pretty easily. If you're using soul link on her while she blast her ice pillar, this deals her around 4 or 5k dmg and pretty much one shot her :D
Obviously, this tricks doesn't work everytime we fight her and it's a good thing to know how to beat her properly ^^

Thanks again. Beat her after one day grideing to learn pattern. There is one more attack that she uses that you did not cover though. She summons shard crystals around the edge of your side. I only saw it once though.

I notice you used Regular Saphron for this video. Do you believe she is the best character for taking out the shopkeeper? Like in terms of her starting deck and attack, since you are getting to her early on with minimal cards.
Obviously everyone has access to her so she's the right choice for a guide video like this, but if someone had full access to the other characters do you think they might be better off with Selicy or Gunner?
So She has strengths like starts with a wide verity of cards so you can branch many different paths depending on the cards you find early on. She also gets a "2nd life" so it makes here really strong for the early game and my purpose for that was to just kill the shopkeeper early in the run for the purpose of the video =D

do you ever think that the devs will add more customizability to pvp? instead of the base decks with more cards, like a draft mode or a pre deck build time?
I heard he would deff like to add that kinda stuff eventually, hes grinding on patches and balance right now hard !

I fought her and like 12 seconds into the fight she just.... Died. Took 2000 damage in an instant I didn't even have any particularly strong spell

Was she patched for 4:33 to not work recently? Every time I go clockwise, when I'm pretty sure I'm faster than the attacks can come up, I end up getting hit anyway. It's like the attack has a delay that's long enough for you to move into the hitbox from before, or something.

I was able to beat Shopkeeper last night after maybe 10 or 15 attempts. This guide was a ton of help to me, I don't know if I would have had the patience to try and find the safe spots in all of her patterns while for hours and hours on end. However, for this video to be a complete guide for defeating Shopkeeper, I think that you should remake it to include her exploding shards attack. I was able to figure that attack out by watching this video (th-cam.com/video/P_miVNjSHtA/w-d-xo.html ), so I wasn't completely unprepared for it; but someone who relied solely on this video would be entirely caught off guard by it. Your video is incredibly helpful otherwise, but cutting corners by not even mentioning her shard attack makes it where players need to rely on another video in addition to this one.

If that fucking clockwise circle attack wasnt a thing i could beat this boss easily. I get hit by it at least 3 times. god damn, fucking impossible to practice a pattern that's so chaotic and fast. needing to attempt a boss 30 times to figure out ONE pattern isn't good game design
The trick is to maximize the amount of damage you do, and minimize the amount of damage you take. EZ

It practically one shot every enemy i hav come across up to loop 4(can't go further hitting my gpu limit, wish i i could record it, but my laptop doesn't meet recording requirement)
This guide is bad, doesn't even list all of the attacks...
I wanted this game to be good but its just way too fast. It's actually bad game design. For 99% of players (even me w dozens of hours invested) I can't afford to get a spell or item because I can't physically keep up with its naunces as there is just way too much going on.
My advice to the devs are in three key areas.
-Balance the game better, certain categories like Slashfik are way too weak and having 0 cost kunai's that deal 40 damage is retarded, you're better off aiming one large 200 damage+ spell
-Pause the game when entering a new fight. (You literally have 1 second to analyze the battlefield and figure out who to fight, who not to fight, who to fight first, second, third. ALONG w learning their patterns)
-Slow the game down A LOT and allow for the field to pause while "reloading". Holy SHIT this is the biggest weakness, it makes the BN formula so much WORSE, late-game you cannot fucking tell what is happening when 90% of tiles are flashing red - I feel like I'm going to have a seizure. Those bosses bombard you non-stop and can ruin an hour long run in a couple seconds.
I thought Gungeon was hard at first but good rng can make the game really fun, even the legendaries in this game seem so weak, many common spells and artifacts do BAD things for most builds. Even the guy in this video's only strat is - cheese her with sudden burst. What about EVERY other build in the game? Oh ya, its not viable
You just need to learn the enemies' and bosses' patterns better. I agree that it can seem unmanageable at times, especially during the late game, but I'm still learning and improving. It feels incredibly rewarding to grow as a player in this game, and I'm looking forward to all of the content that this game has to offer.
Actually kunais are great, you can burst them all in a row and some artefacts give them damage or poison buffs. For example a deck with the scavenge ring and card thrower artefacts allows you to burst a solid 15x60 damage kunais all stored at the end of your card pile. It's like a lot of cards, they're great once they fit into your build.

sadly just because a game is catered to a certain type of gamer doesnt make it "bad game design" lol but i feel the pain in your words, sorry its so brutal for ya !
