Taurus has comes out swinging with this new pocket pistol. The 22 TUC is a super light weight 22LR pocket pistol that has a 9 round magazine and features a tip up barrel for easy chambering. If you are familiar with the Beretta Tomcat and Bobcat series there are a lot of similarities here. The aesthetics are very angular and futuristic such that is seems like the TUC would be right at home in Blade Runner or in the hand of an Edgerunner in Cyberpunk 2077. The poly 22 has been in Taurus Arms catalog for a long time and the TUC is the newest iteration with some very good updates. The sights have followed the small pistol trend and are large and very usable, the slide serration are deep and angled so manipulating the slide is easier that in previous models and the double action only trigger breaks at 8 and a half pounds. With the good sights and decent 8.5lbs getting on steel wasn't hard at all. My first few magazine had me worried because the penultimate round in my first few magazines through the TUC would fail to feed. But turns out this was on me. I wasn't using Taurus' recommended ammo and I hadn't put a single drop of lube on the TUC in my eagerness to get to the range and get this video out to you. A quick field cleaning and switching to a recommended ammunition and the tiny TUC ran really well. Taurus recommends Eley Club, CCI, Blazer, Remington Thunderbolt and Winchester Super X. I also had very very good result with CCI Polymer Coated Clean-22 Subsonic. Federal Punch, a .22 LR marketed for self defense ran very well to and I only experienced one failure over 50 rounds. And it was easy to remediate. Some people will try to tell you that a 22 long rifle is never enough for personal defense but lets be honest. Its way better than nothing and the pocket pistol is about convenience. As Taurus says on their website, "the 22 you carry beats the 45 you left at home", and you have no excuse to not pack the miniscule TUC when you pop into the corner store or the grocery store for a couple of items. After all, as Taurus again points out on their site "The First Rule of Gunfighting: Have a gun." This will be no means replace my Sig Sauer P365XL 9mm or my Smith and Wesson M&P9 but on days where I don't want to change out of my lounge shorts, the TUC will ride in my pocket.

I have had a bunch of pocket guns including an early PT22. Nobody has surpassed the Kel-Tec P32 in my opinion as of yet.
