The really nice part of the paradiso videos is the chemistry you guys have together while talking and playing, so keep this format. I can't get enough of these videos.
excerpt from taylor on Granadillo wood: Granadillo is informally considered a type of rosewood. Sonically, it’s comparable to Indian rosewood, but it’s harder and denser, yielding an additional bell-like ring. The wood traditionally has been used for marimba bars because of its clear, chimey tone. Classical guitar makers later borrowed it and have been using it for at least 50 years. Pairing granadillo with a Sitka spruce top will yield clear, ringing, long-sustaining notes. It tends to be very limited in availability. Goes Well With: A variety of body shapes and playing styles. If you like clear, bell-like tone and the sound of a rosewood guitar, granadillo will probably appeal to you.
This is classic BS propaganda. The idiot libtards have banned Rosewood for any use, and as per CITES, you cannot own a rosewood anything, including guitar fretboards. The ban was mainly due to Chinese using up all the rosewood for furniture. Now, if you want to take your rosewood neck guitar into another country that signed onto CITES, you have to get special "import" papers becasue you are carrying a prohibited item. Look it up on the internet. So now becasue of the Rosewood ban, guitar makers are scrambling to convince people that Granadillo is as good or better. All test done by independent players have come out the same - Granadillo is shit compared to Rosewood. Rosewood guitars will soon become very expensive and rare - it new law came in on January 2, 2017.
Andertons should start a podcast! Just do some improve jamming, talk gear or whatever. I'd tune in every week. Wouldn't mind even just an hour straight of these guys playing whatever comes to mind.
+AvaMM Sorry, not sure how to link on TH-cam but it is a YT channel called "ThatPedalShow" you will see some familiar faces if you watch the Andertons channel a lot
Just love what you both do. Smashing blend of quite different playing styles. You are really fortunate to have each other. Not many two players sets so well tuned!
It ain't over till it's over! Haha you guys had me singing at the end (very embarrassing). As for feedback, it would be cool if you swapped guitars at some point, just to give a sense of how playing style might be affecting the tone. Cheers guys!
I don't always comment but just thought I would say I enjoy your videos a lot. Great knowledge and playing, what's not to like? Thanks so much for all y'all do!!! Cheers
been waiting for this sort of video for a while!!! contacted Gibson personally about searching for a left hand j200 so I have to wait until Christmas for one :( such an amazing guitar!!
+martin suffin You'll love it! I own 3 of them myself. In fact the wife knows that if there's a fire, she's on her own.. I'm rescuing "The 3 BOYS!" ...........No one does jumbos like Gibson!
Nice demo guys, but I think more people are moving to the smaller bodied guitars lately. I'd like to see some 00 or 000 or even some parlor size guitars. I can't imagine buying one of those jumbo sizes.
The playing in these videos is just so damn tasteful! We all love a bit of Chappers shred en Lee pentatonics but you guys just blow me away every time :) I'll probably never be able to afford half of the things you demo but damnit, it sounds awesome!
I'm curious about what pick Pete said he was using at 12:40. It sounded like he said Jeff 306 but that's not familiar to me here in in Canada. Really enjoy your demo's and I'd love to hear more of the same type of music. Your info is very descriptive and there's not too much frivolity. Great job guy's, Thanks
Really enjoyed that video, great playing too. Would be nice to see more comparisons, maybe talking a bit about the difference different woods and bracing makes? A video on picks would be cool too. And as someone said below, would be nice to see you swap guitars as you both have different styles of playing. Thanks for making these videos for us, very enjoyable!
I would like to see (a) swapping guitars mid-review (b) different tone-wood comparisons with opinions and information about their effect on the sound (c) price comparisons across different manufacturers (d) more acoustic stuff! Other than that - great reviews - keep them coming :)
I've played an SJ-200 at my local guitar center, and it sounds great. Wish I had the money to buy it. How much sustain does it give out? Because from what I hear, maple bodied guitars don't have a big amount of sustain.
Your playing is fantastic - I feel like you give a good idea of what the guitar can do just with that 1min jam intro. Well done videos are amazing thanks for the free entertainment.
Guys please tell me what effects, DI's, preamps, pedals, pickups or what ever sound setup you use in the opening intro. It's the best acoustic sound I've heard.
Enjoying all the demo's lads, prefer you playing to a tapper specialist. As you asked for suggestions: 1. compare body sizes within one manufacturer, 2. compare woods of same body size within manufacturer, 3. same body size and wood but different manufacturer, 4. expensive vs. affordable, 5. compare different guitars within the context of a track, 6. best ways to improve an old affordable guitar (e.g. my old '96 sigma - new electronics, upgrade nut and saddle, etc.)
For your next Acoustic Paradiso, would you possibly consider using some other mics as well? I like the NT5, and it gets a lot of that great strumming sharpness that acoustic guitars are known for in many recordings, but also having a large diaphragm condenser and/or a good ribbon mic can help get some of the low-end warmth, especially when the acoustic is a larger-body dreadnought or jumbo. Also, in acoustic sets its often nicer to put more of the low-end of the acoustics, especially if there's not Cajon/Bass/Upright/etc. When I'm mixing acoustics in a full band, I'll usually aim for an acoustic sound that rolls off somewhere around 85-100hz. In acoustic sets, to compensate for less in the mix to fill, I will go all the way down to 75-50 if necessary. Again, this helps from my experience to help fill out a mix where there's just acoustic or acoustic/vocals. Also again, the NT5 sounds great. I love using small diaphragms for acoustics. Having another mic with more low-end response to be used in conjunction with the NT5 would be more representative of the acoustic in real life, and how it sounds in a room. I know this looks and probably reads like a lot, and maybe even a harsh criticism, but I have no intention of saying this video was badly done. The mic placement for the NT5 was very good, and the playing was great as usual. Good luck to your videos, and I look forward to seeing more of the Electric and Acoustic Paradiso in the future!
I am personally a finger-picker through and through, and the no 1 thing I am trying to make out from acoustic videos is how the guitar fairs when finger picked / though I am certain a few chords should be strummed for the more typical user. Another thing I am looking at is the neck width, in finger picking I like the strings to be a bit further apart.
Does Anderton's stock Seagull Guitars? If so, please review. If not, why not? I'm a long-time Seagull owner and I have to say they are wonderful guitars for the price. My current Seagull is a Coastline S6 Folk. Love the wide necks.
These 2 have just amazing chemistry ... so i'm waiting for an Acoustic Paradiso album in the near future :) make it happen! i would buy it in a heartbeat.
happy with you guys doing the acoustics. Would like to hear dread's of similar price being compared by Gibson, Taylor and Martin. Similar woods, similar prices - but different brands.
That's a really good sounding pickup system (relatively). The sound doesn't totally collapse. I'm assuming it's the built in "mic" system adding to the under bridge pickup. Definite improvement.
Great video! Love this kind of stuff! I have a 2016 SJ-200 and I love it. As to the type of playing you should do, it should fit the guitars being demoed, as in this video.Great playing, well done.
Great Demo and playing. The Anthem system sounded horrible though and didn't do the guitars itself any justice. Would you mind demoing a J-45 regular vs J-45 Vintage Spec 2016 model?
The J-200 sounds a little too tinny. I prefer the J-100 and I even think it looks better, although I like the bounded fretboard and headstock on the J-200 :)
+Igor Sekulic One reason the J-200 sounds tinny is because the pickup is blended in more strongly with the undersaddle. If you listen to the segments that are microphone-only, it's not tinny at all. I agree with you though, when the pickup is active, sounds really really tinny. I wish they'd just left the pickups out entirely or just had a short pickup segment at the end.
+Jesse Watson the maple back and sides definitely have to do with it too. I like the walnut better. I'm really not even a fan of Gibson acoustics at all but that J-100 surprised me.
As for as the playing goes... a bit more fingerstyle guitar and slide playing would be lovely, but that's just my personal taste :P As it has been mentioned by so many others - you are doing a great job, keep at it! :)
All jokes aside, I would love to a mic comparison for acoustic recording, especially with a few different placement techniques. Are you guys sticking with those mics for these features? I just thought that using the mic comparison video as a mic selection poll might be a cool way to go. :)
+Ryan Simmons Hi Ryan. Those are the Rode NT5 mics and we did this Rode mic comparision video a while back th-cam.com/video/cuQfuGJYsgw/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching.
+Ryan Simmons We do put out a lot of videos so we dont blame you for missing some :). We have got some more acoustic videos coming up next week where they have used some Neumann KM184 and some AKG C451 microphones, so keep your eyes and ears out. Thank you again for watching.
I went shopping for a SJ200 and came home with a SJ100 which has a two piece back of flamed maple as the sides have, also it has crown inlays and a moustache bridge. The neck is maple and is 3 piece. The 200 was an amazing sound but the guy in the shop said I should compare, I liked the 100 better although little difference. I saved myself £600. I've had it since 2003 and it sounds better every year.
These secret to their great playing is in the left upper corner around 6:34.... You asked for ideas? - for a lot of beginners, some of these little licks and inflections that the guys play would be nice to add to their repertoire - why not do a little 45 seconds at the end of every video on something that beginners could try - that way you'd get the audience coming back for more than the guitars...
J100 sound more clean, j200 wet sound, I vote for j100. Also design is more minimalistic. I like it. You guys are great. I love picture , sound, how you're playing. You have a nice energy. 18min run so fast with you!
I have been trying to find a review / demo of the SIGMA SG200 ( basically a copy of the Gibson J200, I know!) Andertons sell them...yet nowhere can I find any demo anywhere, from anybody! Seems very odd.
The Gibson J200 is an amazing guitar with a great overall tone response. However, the tone in the footage could have been blended/adjusted better. Perhaps they could have just used the mics (?). Also strumming near the bridge (11.43) will give you a higher treble tone as opposed to near the sound hole.
It could be interesting to see some comparisons between guitars that are similar in size and appearance, but at totally different price points, to see if it is worth splashing the extra cash on a higher priced instrument - e.g. Comparing a £200 guitar to a £2000 guitar. I think the current format is fine, but due to your different playing styles, perhaps swap guitars at some point.
In terms of materials used and design, a J-100 is identical to a J-200 Studio, isn't it. In fact a J-200 Studio is a renamed J-100 which is no longer marketed as such.
ACOUSTIC electronics!! Do some reviews of acoustic amps like the Marshall as100d vs Rivera or Fender or some other ultra-prem amp. Heck even acoustic pickup reviews would be awesome!
Just curious, Mick, Pete, Captain (had to toss the boss in), do you guys read any of these comments? Not only is your playing pretty damn awesome but the comments are hilarious... Neither one of you need to be out after dark by the way... Thanks for all the entertainment, Cheers!
+Buddy Martin Hi Buddy, thanks for the kind words! Yes we read the comments. We don't respond to everything as it would take our whole lives, but if there's a direct question or whatever, we do our best to answer. Thanks for the feedback!
The really nice part of the paradiso videos is the chemistry you guys have together while talking and playing, so keep this format. I can't get enough of these videos.
Don't get new players, you two are great for this series.
Your playing and your demos are pure class. Keep the videos coming.

Keep these demos coming. I love your beautiful jams and actually get a clear idea of how the gear sounds. Good job.
I just want to say, your acoustic jams and videos are amazing. Please keep it up! Very enjoyable hearing you two play
Andertons should start a podcast! Just do some improve jamming, talk gear or whatever. I'd tune in every week. Wouldn't mind even just an hour straight of these guys playing whatever comes to mind.
+MikeGaming Kinda like ThatPedalShow, once a week have a 30-45 minute episode focusing on a single topic, like "Great Strats of History" or something.
+The10000lbGorilla where can i find it?
+AvaMM Sorry, not sure how to link on TH-cam but it is a YT channel called "ThatPedalShow" you will see some familiar faces if you watch the Andertons channel a lot
Happy with you guys doing what you do.
I love how Mick's guitar looks. Those inlays and that pickguard combined with the bridge just looks amazing.
You guys are the perfect players for those demos and hell yes you should do more acoustic guitars. KEEP IT UP, GREAT STUFF.
Cheers
Just love what you both do. Smashing blend of quite different playing styles. You are really fortunate to have each other. Not many two players sets so well tuned!
please don't change from Mick and Pete. absolutely love listening to these two on an acoustic
the reason i love these dudes on this channel is they make me want to practice. Change nothing!
I want these guys to perform at my wedding
+JasonL1214 I am sure that could be arranged.... Mail us and we will pass it on.
you mean a comparison of two guitars and everything? LOL haha I would have love to attend! :-D (y)
You guys are awesome! I totally enjoy watching you guys and get loads of good information. Keep up the great work guys!
Do you guys stock Takamine acoustics? I've had a Tak 12 string for over 25 years and I love it as much today as the day I bought it....
It ain't over till it's over! Haha you guys had me singing at the end (very embarrassing). As for feedback, it would be cool if you swapped guitars at some point, just to give a sense of how playing style might be affecting the tone. Cheers guys!
Excellent, the J100 does it for me too - I have a Gibson Songwriter and that is superb...these videos are so brilliant.
I don't always comment but just thought I would say I enjoy your videos a lot. Great knowledge and playing, what's not to like? Thanks so much for all y'all do!!! Cheers
J-200 is a marvelous guitar, what a great sound
Loving the videos, your chemistry when jamming is great and a reminder how much fun guitars are.
been waiting for this sort of video for a while!!! contacted Gibson personally about searching for a left hand j200 so I have to wait until Christmas for one :( such an amazing guitar!!

You guys have a magic about ya both and love watching all these acoustic videos. Thanks guys looking forward to seeing some more updated duets
"I'll play an A minor because I feel great". Let's print those t-shirts Captain !
lmao
Yeah and/or "Spruce Springclean".
Funny guy that Danish Pete.
Nice demo guys, but I think more people are moving to the smaller bodied guitars lately. I'd like to see some 00 or 000 or even some parlor size guitars. I can't imagine buying one of those jumbo sizes.
+ArielsSmartyPants Videos are in the making. Thank you for watching.
They have a better and bigger sound than than the smaller versions. Thats why big gibson guitars are priced at 10-100k.
The playing in these videos is just so damn tasteful! We all love a bit of Chappers shred en Lee pentatonics but you guys just blow me away every time :) I'll probably never be able to afford half of the things you demo but damnit, it sounds awesome!

Put a guitar tuner on that will tell how long the sustain is
That intro jam was brilliant, absolutely brilliant!
Absolutely loving the jam at 12:50
I love the sound of the J100. What model is compatible to it ?
the J100 definitely does it for me in this vid. nicer midrange punch for sure
Your playing is fantastic - I feel like you give a good idea of what the guitar can do just with that 1min jam intro. Well done videos are amazing thanks for the free entertainment.
Love the video, guys. Would really enjoy seeing video on which acoustic models have best electronics for percussive playing, etc. thanks!
Nice stuff.....................have you guys ever reviewed 'Maton' acoustic guitars? I would like to hear your opinion on these acoustics.
Guys please tell me what effects, DI's, preamps, pedals, pickups or what ever sound setup you use in the opening intro. It's the best acoustic sound I've heard.

I have a 2016 j100…love it!!!! Although I played a j185 vintage, that was unbelievable in tone,volume,and comfort…..smaller body
love this stuff. Often watch these videos more than once. How about the plectrum video Pete. I'm curious what you have to say on this subject.
For your next Acoustic Paradiso, would you possibly consider using some other mics as well? I vote yes for strummy picky, and no for tappy slappy. Also, maybe Acoustic Paradiso needs more of a rural wardrobe sensibility ;)
Love your videos. One the acoustic side, I'd love to know your perspective on size and style differences and the impact of the various shapes.
Hi guys, these guitars sound just awesome.
One question - which microphones were used for recording this particular session?
Does Anderton's stock Seagull Guitars? If so, please review. If not, why not? I'm a long-time Seagull owner and I have to say they are wonderful guitars for the price. My current Seagull is a Coastline S6 Folk. Love the wide necks.
Awesome playing. Almost forgot this was a demo :)
These 2 have just amazing chemistry ... so i'm waiting for an Acoustic Paradiso album in the near future :) make it happen! i would buy it in a heartbeat.

so fun listening to you two play:)... ty
Mick and Pete....really love the reviews you two do! Great sound and some serious artistry coming through both of you. Cheers from Texas!
Cheers from Texas back at ya. Glad to see ya support the Blue! And love guitars, there are still some normal folk left 😂.
Purple Heart Scott We support the blue with our TAX money. When I'm on the road the only thing I look out for are the cops!
I agree with @Igor...the J200 sounds a little tinny and plastic. Maybe that's from over mic'n the guitar. J100 sounds warmer.
well it's the back and side woods, walnut gives a dark sound, while maple gives a bright sound.
Ed R he was playing very close to the bridge. Get over the soundhole for the big old sound.
having just bought a J200, (which is marvelous!) I really appreciate the J100 comparison!! Thx for that!
both Gibson's sounded great.
what's the price difference?
Bengt Thulin 900 euros on thomann
15:59 i love James Bay he inspired me to play guitar i was waiting whole video for someone to mention him
Great video! Love this kind of stuff! I have a 2016 SJ-200 and I love it. As to the type of playing you should do, it should fit the guitars being demoed, as in this video.Great playing, well done.
Love the guitars. Sound fantastic. FYI: Link in description appears to be broken.
Great Demo and playing. The Anthem system sounded horrible though and didn't do the guitars itself any justice. Would you mind demoing a J-45 regular vs J-45 Vintage Spec 2016 model?
Can you guys do a review on the Taylor GS-Mini & The Martin Mini? Will love you forever
I love you guys! (in a non-homoerotic, GAS-driven way^^ ;-))
would love to see a comparison of the J45 Range i,e, standard vs custom vs true vintage.
Often Mick played closer to the bridge which changed the tone to the "tinny" sound
Ive just seen the gigson g45 studio acoustic. When are you getting them in?.
Oh right, thanks for giving me the heads up! Apologies for missing the obvious there.
+Ryan Simmons We do put out a lot of videos so we dont blame you for missing some :). We have got some more acoustic videos coming up next week where they have used some Neumann KM184 and some AKG C451 microphones, so keep your eyes and ears out. Thank you again for watching.
I have a SJ-100 2016 Walnut. Beautiful guitar! But now I'm considering to maybe sell it for a Hummingbird. Not too sure..
I'm really enjoying the demos, the only the thing I'd say is perhaps let's hear how the controls changed the sounds.
Martin Dreads - Centenary year, they reckon (they used to say 1931, but who's counting?) How about a round up? X series, Road, D15, 18, 28..?
Please do a review of the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio! Love all your videos, you guys are awesome!
Please do more sj-200 stuff
Awesome video guys
Love you two playing together,...still waiting for that EP,.....and I know you've heard it alot already.... but, yea,...get a room
"I'm gonna play an Am, because I feel... great !" Now I can only feel great when playing an Am ! Nice videos !
Awsome! That intro gave me the urge to sing (i can't, don't and shouldn't sing, but I did) :-)
I like the Dunlop Nylon pick @ 11:59.
Does anyone know where is Mike now?
Excellent video and comparison of two great models. Strangely enough, I prefer the J-100!
great now i want to buy both of them!
I usually watch just to see you guys playing together.
J100 sound more clean, j200 wet sound, I vote for j100. Also design is more minimalistic. I like it. You guys are great. I love picture , sound, how you're playing. You have a nice energy. 18min run so fast with you!
Pete always seems to get a beautifully smooth sound when strumming any acoustic.
Do a video on Maton high end guitars
+Mads Heimdal Henriksen We only do videos of the stuff we stock. And unfortunately we don't stuck Maton . :(
LOL!!
What do ya mean??..NO MATON GUITARS??!!
You guys should compare a Martin d28 and the d35
I have been trying to find a review / demo of the SIGMA SG200 ( basically a copy of the Gibson J200, I know!) Andertons sell them...yet nowhere can I find any demo anywhere, from anybody! Seems very odd.
I'm in the market for an acoustic guitar. I'd like to see some
Can you compare a Martin mini dreadnought to a Taylor mini
The Gibson J200 is an amazing guitar with a great overall tone response. However, the tone in the footage could have been blended/adjusted better. Perhaps they could have just used the mics (?). Also strumming near the bridge (11.43) will give you a higher treble tone as opposed to near the sound hole.
Love to see a Martin D-28 vs a HD-28. And the same with a D-35 and a HD-35 :) Loving these videos guys! :)
Sing when you play an acoustic, that's part of their charm
"If you'r going to San Francisco be sure to wear a flower in your hair..."
Pleeeeeeze do more acoustic shows.
Nice vid + guitars. Thx
Just curious, Mick, Pete, Captain (had to toss the boss in), do you guys read any of these comments? Not only is your playing pretty damn awesome but the comments are hilarious... Neither one of you need to be out after dark by the way... Thanks for all the entertainment, Cheers!
