@@julosx You are correct. Episode 718 on 2/22/19. In that episode they list it as a 1940 instead of a 1941, but they are the same guitar. Joel shows up in this episode also to talk about the replaced bridge. My Gibson book tells me that by '41 the "stair-step headstock and mustache bridge had been replaced with the traditional headstock and "flying bat" bridge. Maybe it was a late ''40. Good eye. I missed this since the dates were different. Agnesi correctly identifies it as a SJ-100, not a J-100. Various re-issues of the SJ-100 beginning the the '70's were designated J-100s.
Thanks for that little playing mistake mr Lemmo... thank god he's human 😀😀 what a great player with a beautiful sounding gibson... The guitars are the stars!!!!
Oh my Michael! That was great. Your apprecistion of that guitar was clear. Your original stuff was wonderful and brought that thing to life. The guitars are the stars but they cant be appreciated unless they can be played by an artist like you. Thanks and well done!
A canon indeed!! Kudos to Joel and his vast experience bringing it back to this condition!! Great playing and awesome shooting as always to Mr. Lemmo and the virtually invisible shooting Queen, Jen!! I really enjoy watching all of you, and the guitars just make your jaw drop!!
Badass guitar , incredible enough to begin with but impeccably restored to all it's glory by Mr Whitehead , and opened up beautifully by Mr Lemmo , stepping aside from the usual blues oriented stuff on a unique and outstanding flat top Friday , thanks guys.
The first song Lemmo plays sounds like it could be the background for a western movie where they are relaxing around the campfire at night or riding off into the sunset. Nice job.
What a great peice of history.joel, you look like you did a fantastic job on this old, wartime, beatup beast.one of gibsons finest models! Best fft ever.nice job playing.Nice original.Mark woulda played the shit outta that thing!way to keep the show together jen!
Wow! The first piece towered over the other pieces, which were excellent And displayed the guitar's flexibility as well as M Lemmo's talents, amazing sounding guitar too.
Your show has such a beautiful atmosphere since Lemmo is the host ... what a humble and talented guy he is - and great to see Joel on the show (bring him back)
It must be difficult to determine the thresholds between leaving a guitar as it is, doing a repair, or making and fitting a replacement. It was a nice touch to show the old bridge in defence of the replacement. For some reason, It was noticeable to me how well the camera captured Lemmo's fingers chording. I remain appreciative of these excellent promotions for your shop and of your respect for the instruments, my thanks to all involved.
Enjoyed seeing Joel. Definitely appreciate the insight of a luthier when discussing vintage guitars. Nice idea guys. Should do that more. Like seeing GOTD evolve and expand. Great work.
Wish you’d start doing a lesson of the day which would also allow you to showcase the guitar of the day! I’d love to learn that first song you played it was absolutely beautiful brother. Keep it up! Much love from Kentucky!
Hell yeah Joel! It takes a good mechanic to keep a car running and it definitely takes a good guitar mechanic to make that vintage guitar sound like it's supposed too ✊🏼
I havent even watched the first minute and I know this guitar will be heaven! An Lemmos playing will be great (No Magnatone, no Reverb overkill too - thank the Lord)
I’m a totally biased d-18 player, but that sounds like the best Gibson acoustic I’ve ever heard! Lovely playing by Lemmo as usual, sometimes a bit of a silence gap makes the song!!!
clear as bell, I sold one to Norm a few years ago, playing as always fantastic Lemmo. makes me regret it now, I'll be in the store in a few weeks Michael you need to sign Norms book for me. see ya
I hope this masterpiece goes to someone who will play it and do it justice and not just some rich collector -- it be the best all-around Gibson flattop I've ever heard, and I'm mostly a Martin guy.
That guitar sounds like a real gem. When a sound like that comes into your possession how could decide to sell it? It's too good! A keeper. I would have given the new bridge an aged look tho. Great work all the same.
I have an early 40’s Gibson Bannerhead, but can’t find another one like it...any clue on where to start looking? Seems to be a lack of info on these guitars
Hey Norm, would love to see Joel do a "Repair of the Week" video so we can watch him bring some of these beauties back to life.
Excellent idea!!!!
Yeah great idea!
That would be amazing!!!
yes!
Dude that'd be bad a**
Great idea to include Joel and show off his fantastic work. Please do this more often.
What a great sounding flat top. Thanks to Joel for bringing this baby back to life!
In another GOTD, Mark Agnesi shortly before his departure already demoed this very guitar. It seems they couldn't sell it back then.

Acoustic guitars really come down craftsmanship, it's pure art.
It's pure craftsmanship
Aahh... Beautiful. Joel's handiwork, Michael's playing and Jenn behind the camera. Trifecta!!
Song 1 - "It's a Mellow Sound (but I'm working on it)" by Michael Lemmo
Song 2 - "Here We Go (Keep Going)" by MIchael Lemmo featuring Jenn

Oh, I see what you did there....
Nice to see a true classic brought back to life. Excellent playing as usual.
That first song was simply beautiful
That first tune was nice. Excellent demo of a beautiful guitar.
Beautiful job on a beautiful instrument filmed by beautiful Jen!!
Thanks for that little playing mistake mr Lemmo... thank god he's human 😀😀 what a great player with a beautiful sounding gibson... The guitars are the stars!!!!
Mike I have to agree, that gibson is just a sweetheart. Amazing tone, nice writing, playing and presentation as well.
Michael, your originals on acoustic are truly special.
amazing pieces of music as usually, especially the first one. lemmo is an incredibly creative player i mean those chord progressions are too beautiful
Oh my Michael! That was great. Your apprecistion of that guitar was clear. Your original stuff was wonderful and brought that thing to life. The guitars are the stars but they cant be appreciated unless they can be played by an artist like you. Thanks and well done!
Great playing, Michael! Gorgeous sounding guitar. There is just something about those WWII era Gibsons.
Technically, this one is even a pre-war Gibson.
Good to see that Lemmo has decided to ~PLAYYY AUTHENTIC!!!~😎
Man, wish I could own a guitar like that. Sounds awesome
This is still my favourite guitar that’s ever been posted for a GOTD
How is it still your favourite guitar of the day? It was posted today???
Peter Parker It was also in a video with Mark sometime before he left. They repeated a couple guitars as the show has gone on
Different guitar man! Mark did a sj100 not a j100
Love to hear stories about rescue restored guitars, whoever owns this will have another lifetime of enjoyment.
Joel is fantastic and knowledgeable. He should be a regular on guitar of day.
they should let Joel do a repair video once a week I would like to see him bring some of these beauties to life again
Yep , that's a beautiful sounding guitar, it's a keeper
Glorious sound!
BEAUTIFUL!
Nice work, Joel.
You can just tell she’s a delight to play and the tone ‘live’ must be incredible (even sounded fine through iPad speaker).
Norm is lucky to have the both of you. Keep up the good work gentlemen! Thanks!

I hear about old acoustics needing a neck reset, it would be great if you could do a video with Joel explaining why it's needed and how it's done

Beautiful!
Wow! The first piece towered over the other pieces, which were excellent And displayed the guitar's flexibility as well as M Lemmo's talents, amazing sounding guitar too.
Joel was great, I liked hearing the story of it. Great chords lemmo
Can I add another vote for more repairs! Really interesting, great to hear from Joel
That baby sounds great ! Nice job Joel ,great playing Lemmo, and thanks Jen !
Great job ML. Good work Joel and Jen.
Your show has such a beautiful atmosphere since Lemmo is the host ... what a humble and talented guy he is - and great to see Joel on the show (bring him back)
4:41. Sure, 'we want stock' but, it's here and glorious !!!
Flat top Friday, best day of the week! Good job Lemmo
Wow that's the best sounding acoustic I've ever heard I wish I had 100 grand and I would buy it
I both wish I could play like that, while playing that guitar. Great episode as usual! Thanks Jen and Lemmo. :)

Like a Ring in the Bell...........Nice
Work Joel. 🎸💚
I can feel those strings...
Love the songs man.
The second song reminded me a whole lot of daughters. It had the same first chord and the chords following were very jazzy and sexy.
Awesome job on the Guitar Joel! Great job as usual Lemmo an Jenn.
I heart you Lemmo, you are my favorite rocker forever.
Super interesting stuff from Joel. Whole new perspective to it.
Awesome mike loved it!!
Wonderful sounding guitar. Great restoration work.
Love the apron, true craftsman.
Reminds me of the guitar on the free wheeling Bob Dylan album, the sound.
I’m a totally biased d-18 player, but that sounds like the best Gibson acoustic I’ve ever heard! Lovely playing by Lemmo as usual, sometimes a bit of a silence gap makes the song!!!
It sounds amazing!
Another great guitar! That baby sings and sings just right. This makes what, four or five flat out amazing Flat Top Fridays in a row?
Great Lemmo! He invented the pick picking!
Nice Work Joel , Michael and Jen
Yes! And I think we were too mean to Joel last time and made him shy. Love to see the repair work and details...
Great job 👍👍👍 keep up the good work.
Killed it Lemmo! Love that guitar, played some good stuff this flat top Friday! Which bybthe way is the best guitar of the day!🤘🏼
God damn his originals are great
Joel - Very cool dude! Lemmo - the usual
Jen - Glad somebody over there can keep these rogues together!
Until next time Adios!
Normans Rare Guitars -- Where the guitars are the real stars.
And lemmo
Loved this one! Always love Flat Top Fridays at Norms! Beautiful playing too! However! Gotta do a Maton!
clear as bell, I sold one to Norm a few years ago, playing as always fantastic Lemmo. makes me regret it now, I'll be in the store in a few weeks Michael you need to sign Norms book for me. see ya

Amazing with the pick picking 😂😍
Joel is a beauty. Enough said.
I hope this masterpiece goes to someone who will play it and do it justice and not just some rich collector -- it be the best all-around Gibson flattop I've ever heard, and I'm mostly a Martin guy.
Good to see an authentic Gibson 😉
That guitar sounds like a real gem. When a sound like that comes into your possession how could decide to sell it? It's too good! A keeper. I would have given the new bridge an aged look tho. Great work all the same.
Sweet!! 🤘🤘
"keep going, keep going" - Jen :)
Now that was awesome and funny TY Mr LEMMO ! Kudos The first tune was amazing !! Great phrasing !! you do like your D lydian !!
Nice job. I inherited my mothers 1949 Gretsch New Yorker, with a sliding DeArmond pickup! She toured with it all the way through the sixties!
Awesome guitar. Are all of these sunburst? I've never seen a natural Gibson J 100.
1:53 for the guitar
He's playing authentic
Love u lemmo
Michael great chords n very nice sounds what guitar strings n size on that guitar . Very nice fixed guitar thank Love 💕
Nice work Joel. I like working on guitars but I would be afraid of doing anything to a guitar like that. Maybe after a lot more practice.
Fantastic, I was a bit disappointed by Weirdass Wednesday. But this totally makes up for it.
Nice!
Beautiful. I must say, did the first piece remind anybody of the soundtrack to the Land Before Time? If We Hold On by Diana Ross.
Another video to add to my "learn to play this later" list...
I have an early 40’s Gibson Bannerhead, but can’t find another one like it...any clue on where to start looking? Seems to be a lack of info on these guitars
What year did Gibson stop making the tribal band on the back of these j100s? I don’t even see them on the ‘41 reissues
That was kool! More of Joel...............kool kat!
That thing is a fuckin cannon! Sweet playing Michael!
Sure would be great to see some Dean Guitars soon! :D
Online Guitar course by lemmo at an affordable price like 10$/month, 355k of norm’s subscribers would buy I bet
