  • @SuperMoonm

A bit of misinformation, every train has AC and non AC compartments, not just a few. They also have non AC compartments. Indian trains are made for every class, rich or poor to dirt poor people. The difference is in the services offered. So every train has AC reserved compartments, non AC reserved compartments and non AC unreserved compartments. So for the same journey, a 1-A compartment might cost upto 10,000 (more than 100 dollars) rupees while non AC unreserved might cost barely 100 rupees (barely a dollar).

Take it from someone who has travelled in 32 countries and in train in almost all these countries if they have one.and yes I have travelled in high speed train in Germany and France as well. Indian trains are not very bad and infact very comfortable. German French high speed trains get very uncomfortable if you have to travel more than 2-3 hours because they are only sitter. And like chair cars , luggage space is only overhead or end of cabin. Imagine lifting heavy suitcases above your head so that luggage is out of path. Indian railways Infact now they are very clean than earlier. It's easy to store luggage below seat and you can sleep even at day time at upper berths. It's easy to see glamour outside and diss indian railway. but I used German ICE every year. That 1 hr ride is just little less uncomfortable that getting stuck in plane.

I'm loving the India series. I never had the opportunity to travel via train while I was in India. In 2005, I was stuck in Mumbai for 4 or 5 days, due to flooding, and considered taking a train out to get out of the city, because my flights kept getting cancelled (avoid Mumbai during the monsoon season). But even the trains were not running due to the flood.

almost all trains have ac coaches, soon they will have more high speed trains like vande bharat. Ticket booking is really easy , all you need is an irctc or make my trip app, or you can even use its website. You can also check the train information online, like the platform number and the coach position at the platform. I have never booked a window ticket in last 15 yrs. Hopefully it helps in the future.

1AC, first class, has 4 person compartments and a few two person coupes. A wall and a door separates the compartment from the aisle.
2ac is second class. A curtain separates the compartment from the aisle. 3ac is third class.
I always book 1AC for overnight trips and 2ac for day trips.
Definitely bring your own toilet paper
Each car has two types of toilets, a European/American style toilet and an Indian style squat toilet.
As a senior I got crazy good discounts on fares and have done thousands of miles on India Rail. I absolutely love it

Just get an IRCTC account. I just got back from traveling in India for a few months and I used my account to book most of my tickets, I had no problems paying with an American credit card. The online platform is really temperamental and poorly designed but it works if you're patient, you can even choose your berth preference (side upper is best if traveling by yourself). You can even book narrow gauge trains online like the Kalka-Simla train. My biggest complaint about the online system is that you can only make 6 bookings per calendar month. You don't have to go to the station, fight the queue, or fill out a reservation form.

@Heat Ray being multilingual helps. I made account sales to most of the 50 states and Canada for many years. Obviously the accent from New England is so different than that of the South. Along the way, one begins to notice patterns of words and expressions that give you a clue of where you are calling. Whether you are in the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, Europe one will learn similarities and differences if you listen.

    • @mikeballesteros2275
      @mikeballesteros2275 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@Heat Ray although I speak no Asian languages, if I listen in on a conversation I can differentiate whether they are speaking Korean, Japanese, Chinese or Vietnamese. I'm sure many other people have this ability. If you speak Spanish I'm sure you can tell the differences between the Spanish spoken Mexico, Central America, and South America. Good day!

YES, it's impossible to book the tkt as a foreigner. They demand in Indian phone nbr, and you "can't " get that when abroad. Therefore does expect to be able to book that from home prior to your trip. It can be a hassle especially if you want to travel during peak seasons such as during Indian holidays. Encourage everyone to try the trains there, as it is an experience. Allow yourself plenty of time to find the right platform and train as it can be quite a challenge. And yes, do ask locals for assistance as suggested in the video 👌

Ok, but Italy has the most UNESCO sites in the world. Would be very interesting to see. I'm sure many people in Mexico would like to see. Remember, we that speak Spanish can somewhat relate to the countries and peoples whose language belongs the "Romance" languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian).

Basically these travel blogs on India have 2 category
1)Good blog, which will show you developed side and under develop sides.
2)funny blog, this blogs have many things in common like first they will choose to go to cheap hotel, will eat from anywhere
(even we see before where we are eating), our food have many many types of Spices which foreign countries don't have, so basically they can't tolerate it at first as they had ate it, also I don't know why but they think only Indians scam other ,they think if you go to another you will never get scam there, everybody around the world scam(not everybody many are also good), then also I don't know why but these bloggers have especial love slums, no seriously WTH.

      It Depends on the thinking..
If you are a real tourist or traveller who just just wanna dive in and soak Everything then you are obviously Awesome
      But
Some ppl have something like...idk how to describe it but they see what they want to see or believe , then very shamelessly , they show it to the whole world without having a thought of others.. they just want to disrespect .. thats it , that's the only thing they have in mind. It doesn't matter where they are or what they're seeing. Yes India have slums , so ? Is it a bad thing? Some poor people living together and living the life on their own is a bad thing huh, poverty is present in almost Every Country, Even the US has so Many homeless people and nobody has the balls to talk or go there in those areas.. but India, is an Easy Target for people like these.

Never get the AC or first class or second class if you're traveling in a normal train across India. It's freezing, day and night because they blast the AC on high, non stop, and it's hot outside..so you'll get a cold. Not to mention that because the little compartments in first and second class are closed off..if they fill up, they're way to cramped. Always take non AC sleeper. The people are real people and super friendly, it's open and breezey, and a much more fun atmosphere, unlike the people in 1st and 2nd class....who're full of themselves because they have a little money, and more interested in their laptops and tablets..than in talking to you and sharing food and stuff. This guy is also clueless, so he ended up paying way more for his ticket then he had to. Just go to the tourist office at any train station the day before, and get the tourist quota tickets for any compartment.
