Awesome this is working on MiSTer now! To assign a controller to port 1 in any core, its quite simple. Just choose the "Reset player assignment" option in the OSD, just below the input binding options. The first controller you press a button on after that is assigned as player 1.
I don't know how you did that, I've spent weeks on it and it still doesn't work! My lightgun is on 1.9, joystick mode, it's detected when I launch the script Start Lightgun, even the camC is detected. Still, can't use the controls on the lightgun to navigate menus, and of course can't use it in any games using the NES_sinden core. The white border and crosshair appear fine, the input settings are all the same as in the video. I even removed my gamepad and relaunched the Mister to use the gun as first controller. Nothing works, I'm lost. Can someone help me please? :(
@@JoeHedrick Hello Joe, thanks for the proposal, I'd love that. I managed to set it up to access the menus but now the trigger doesn't work and the crosshair doesn't seem to move. I'm on Discord, I'll send it to you in PM
Works good for me... Duck Hunt crosshairs seem to be off a little, is there a way to calibrate the crosshairs to be in the centre of where the scope is aiming?
I keep getting "read only" errors when it's trying to install the LIB files user /user/lib. I had to change the folder permissions using WINSCP on the folder and drag them in manually using FTP.
Mine arrived today. At best, my little crosshair basically skims along the top border in a very jerky fashion. That's in the NES core, which is as good as it gets. psx/gen just sit there in the middle. SNES seems to pull up a controller option screen and crazily rotate through l/r button assignments. Works on PC, just hates the mister.
Pro tip - You don't even need to use ssh, just press F9 to drop to console. Not super useful in this specific case (because you need to copy the script over), but useful for other maintenance tasks you might want to do.
Love my sinden wish someome would release a huge build with everything on it. The sinden is held back cos of this and more people would jump on board. Yeah theres a few builds out there but nothing perfect and requires tinkering which most people cant or dont have the time.
That is a good idea. I dropped a huge hint that I want one of these guns for Christmas. If no one has added it by then, I'll add a default off option to update_all.sh and submit a PR. Then, when you get a gun, you'll just need to edit the config file and it will grab the Sinden stuff, install them, and keep them all updated - likely by just downloading and calling their setup script, which seems the sanest approach.
Sinden guns are really too complicated :( I regreat my two guns. I never really succeed to use it correctly. Don't want to wast more hours in configuration.
And wifi for me. This is using an old version of MrFusion that's incompatible with the current MiSTer wifi and bluetooth drivers. Recommend a clean install for this to work correctly.
@@benjaminapeterson unfortunately I don't want to replace the 200gb of data and have to reset up everything on the SD card again. All my settings for dos games, my entire library of games.. etc. I'll just want from them to put out the kernel update.
@@mattunwinI have 2 approaches that, I think, might solve the issue for you. 1. I have all the games on an external 2TB SSD. Bonus - it means I don't have to mess about with the SD card. 2. At that point, the SD card can be really small because there's not much on it. Which means that, before doing a massive change, you can save an image of it (I use ddrescue) and, if things go sideways on you, you can just write that image back to start again.
@@matthewcaron3319 thanks. The issue was already resolved with updates to the release. And edits to the mister ini will allow you to load the forked mister main for only the sinden core.
@@mattunwin oh, neat. Thanks for that information. I am still researching what has changed in the past 6 months - there's now cores that need an extra RAM module too, apparently, so I ordered one of those. But I'm trying to get up to speed on what the Sinden gun needs as well.

I use this all the time when using the TMNT core because everyone wants a specific turtle.
Outstanding how far this project has come, the utmost props to you for reviving the lightgun for the flatscreen age
Amazing update for the Sinden guns! Cannot wait to try this on my mister, since its usually problem free once cores are set up.
And handles different controllers way better than other retro emulators.
Great video, just ordered two. Thnx for the amazing update. finally get to play my old favorite lightgun games again in the livingroom on the tv :)
Thanks to the set up scripts on the github I got mine up and running in a couple of minutes. Great work!

Well done bud, love that this is finally out!
Great stuff!!! Thx!
Is it actually possible to play with two guns for 2 players games?
Nice. I didn't know could do this, I will be looking at setting this up!
Ordered 2 as well.
Awesome, I built myself a Mister setup (solder it allll by myself cos I’m a big boy now!) a few months ago - can’t wait to try this out!

What’s the ETA on sinden support for other consoles/mame etc ? Thanks

What systems is it compatible on, only on PC, or also on consoles?

it's plug and play on batocera. zero tinkering required
💯👌
How big does the SD card have to be if I only want to use it for Lightgun games?
for some reason my sinden cores dont show a border? changing the video scale doesnt change anything. theres just 0 white border anywhere
