@@theancientsam dead space 2 honestly was the last good survival horror action game since Resident evil 4-5 and the return of Resident Evil 2. Sure, opinions are subjective, but it’s pretty hard to deny it. Dead space 1 is so goddamn clunky and narrow and it feels like you’re trying to beat the controller more than the game sometimes. Just me. Never played on pc tho, only 2 and 3 on PC.
That one part during the start of the outbreak where you hear a baby crying in a laundry machine slowly turn into necromorph before the light went off was pretty cool and messed up detail yet I still can't get over that eye poking scene I could barely watch it.
Okay I gotta say this. The scene were Isaac opens his helmet when Stross is about to kill him, does no one see Stross hit Isaac's helmet before the qte? Probably struck an emergency open latch or something.
@@alastor8091 I always thought it was the latter one. Like Isaac was still hoping that Stross may come to his senses if he sees him or something. I've heard people asking "Why Isaac acting so dumb?" while in reality he was behaving more or less like any normal person would be.
@Lavadi It's not a combat helmet, it's for industrial work. You would want an emergency open hatch on the front if you or someone else had to take it off your head to treat or assess injuries in the workplace. Isaac is an engineer not a soldier.
I admittedly was initially freaked out and I love the Dead Space series, but it would've build better tension if they invested more time in atmospheric sounds and not cuing "scary" with loud music or Necromorphs just shouting announcing their presence. I'd probably have lost my mind if I got bumrushed by a necromorph and there were sound cues to go on that didn't involve shouting or loud rampant music. I'd like to imagine if they toned down the music audio and focused it more hearing background rummaging, footsteps running toward you, or even having the Necromorphs sneaking up on you to try to get a kill. I'd like to think of another example of the Regenerator from Resident Evil 4, you hear them breathing before you even SEE them and it allows a sense of dread to be felt before even facing them directly. If Dead Space had more self restraint and subtlety it would've probably been a far scarier experience, the concept was perfect for it, the execution not so much.
Dude, there are so many videos out there of dead space 1 and 2where they just stay in one place and the atmosphere plays itself, very tense, would recommend it
No matter how many times I played dead space 2 walking through that stupid room with that TV screen that screams for no reason will always scare the shit out of me.
The most fucked up part yo me is that final clip where Issac shot himself in the head with the bolter and it exited his eye... not because it was gorey but because there's nothing fatal between you chin and eye so unless he bled out about 3 minutes later he's still alive just in an AMAZING amount of pain
One might definitely pass out from the shock alone though, and I imagine firing a huge javelin like that into your face is enough force to give yourself a bad concussion.
@Mister Majestic that's up to personal preference. both are equally amazing games imo, but ds2 rocks harder cus its a lot more fun and action packed rather than being horror focused

Fan of the OG game who played Dead Space 2 on launch and loved it here: The original was “scarier”. The atmosphere was darker and more isolated, and the Necromorph as enemies were new and scary. Dead Space 2 was more “horrifying”. It lost a lot of that isolation from the first game, but replaced it with the terror of seeing a place lived in by tens of thousands of people falling apart as it happens. All these years later, the scene with the husband dragging his crying wife away from their apartment as she screams “I can’t leave my mother!” is seared into my mind. That is the true, existential horror for me. Far more than a Necromorph jumping out of a vent and roaring at me. After all, I knew the Necromorphs by now. Knew how to kill them. They were no longer as terrifying themselves, but what they could do to other people was.
I recommend you upload a lightly edited mostly raw video on your second channel to give the TH-cam audience a little more to watch in tandem with the shorter videos
