    This is really a great idea, and most stations produce accountability by having the papers as data to show they are completing their stations correctly. I especially love the race block game to spell new words. Very nice! Thank you for sharing! This also would be a way to differentiate, as you could make some drawers more challenging.

    Thank you for sharing your tips! I enjoy learning as much as I can about classroom management, I feel it is super important to be on top of this. I currently use Brag Tags and LOVE them. Such a positive way to reward students. I am lucky because at my school, we have a copy service that we can send things out to be copied , laminated AND cut if we want. It takes some extra planning as you have to wait to get things back, but not long. The time saver is worth it. I know some teachers also have parent helpers or student helpers as well.

    So many great ideas but I honestly do not see many of my students being able to do many of the weekly booklets. They are still learning how to master scissors skills. If so many were low before COVID, nos things are way worse. I am going to do my best to try this and see how I get the students to respond and progress. The stamping and texting seem very doable.

    I don't know if you've answered this elsewhere, but how does this work with your students on different levels? Do different reading groups have access to different Can-Dos or is it just differentiated by their individualized spelling words? This is simply amazing. Can I ask what your success rate is for your students learning to read on grade level? I'm curious because in most of the country, it's very low -- like 40%, and I'd like to know how much having these kinds of activities make a difference.

    • @AnnaDiGilio
      @AnnaDiGilio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there… thanks so much for watching. 98-99% of my students left my classroom each year reading on or way above grade level. I was able to achieve this with my students every single year for over 18 years. Once I really focused on my craft and the most important aspects of reading instruction with a solid phonological and phonemic awareness foundation, I was able to see these results year after year. :)

    Do the words they work on for word work correlate with the words they make on Monday in Guided Reading?

    • @AnnaDiGilio
      @AnnaDiGilio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Amy... Well.. It kind of depends. The words that I used during my word work instruction was always linked the the phonics skill we were working on that current week. Our spelling words also followed the same phonics skill. However, the guided reading resources that I sell always included work work. The word work scaffolds from emergent skills up through the transitional for word attack skills and the use of different phonics patterns. So, if a teacher doesn't have a specific scope to follow in terms of phonics instruction, I provide a scaffolded approach to which phonics patterns they will attack with each lesson. Hope that helps

      Loved watching your video Masterclass, you shared your youtube channel with us! I just watched your word work and will watch more in the coming days. You said there was a freebie? Can you direct me to it? Thanks again for your help in making me more confident in my "literacy stations" and Guided Reading work.

    Hello Anna, I am a returning 2nd grade teacher and I am glad I found your videos as a refresher to what second grade curriculum and rotations should look like.
    Where do you get your spelling words from? Do you have a spelling words recommendation for second grade?

      @@AnnaDiGilio Thank you Anna but that is not the one I was talking about. I have that one. Let me see if I can explain it better to you. In the Word Work Daily 5 video, you have a small standing frame that is dark pink in color. Inside of that is a picture that says, "Word Work". It is like one of those "chalkboard" signs that I have seen advertised and they are small in size like that one. It is placed in front of you and the word work cart. That is what I am looking for.

    Hi Anna! What is the name of the person who you said you ordered her product from TPT? I am trying to type in her name or the product, "Sunny Days in Second Grade", but nothing is coming up for it. Please help!! P.S. I have your Guided Reading Program. I will be using it in full force with my second graders this year and I just ordered the Spelling Tab-its and the poster.

    How do you feel about the belief that students shouldn't be taught spelling directly?
