Well, Jiggs took a bit more time probably, but she still took a lot of assets from Kirby. Excluding Pichu and Young Link wouldn't have done anything to add new unique characters. Melee's development time was just WAY too short unfortunately.
@tedgonzalez985 oh I see now. It was more that they rushed the development of the game a bit & wanted to make characters that didn't involve too much detail. That makes sense. I guess the hype for the game must've been pretty demanding. It still would've been cool to see a few different characters even still
