    I had this exact same fault a couple of months ago using data logger I found that both front door handles was keeping the vehicle systems on, they both had water intrusion into the connectors of the handles. Replaced both handles plus the looms and was all OK. Great instructional videos 👍

    Great video thank you. Having similar issue with a 2007 ford focus, has similar handles/locks. If this happens to be the issue, can you just leave the handles disconnected, or turn off the touch/proximity setting? And still have the car lock with the key fob or key. Being a 2007, they arnt in a rush to buy new handles or sensors for it. Just happy if it drives and stops killing the battery. Thank you

    Hi Steve, always watch your videos with interest. I realise your probably very busy but hope you can spare a bit of time to answer a question for me. I watched your video some time back regarding water ingress from the windscreen washer pump to the BCM on a Mondeo. I had that exact problem and had to have a new BCM fitted So my question is, to stop this happening again with the new BCM, can I cut the wire just before it goes into the BCM plug and rejoin it with a spade end connector. Hopefully this would stop the water tracking along the cable. Would this work, without causing any fault codes or engine warning lights to come on. Hope you can find time to answer this. Ta.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly that, i replace the washer pump as in my opinion its faulty, then i cut and solder the wires to stop any further tracking of water

    • @paulchester656
      @paulchester656 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply Steve, much appreciated. Will fit a new pump, as you suggest, and cut wire and fit spade end connector.

  • @Thesheddweller
    @Thesheddweller 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I have subscribed to your channel and I was very interested in this particular video. I have a question... I own a mk4. 1.5 diesel focus Vignale 2020. It was second hand with 3000miles on it, I too keep having a flat battery. After 3 days of rest, the car won’t start and the dash goes bonkers. I have placed a battery condition meter in the accessory socket recently and it shows an almost constant 14.7volts charge rate (same reading with a good multimeter). The sales garage does not appear to be concerned about the high charge rate and put it down to my dash cam consuming 0.4Ah… It is left plugged into the accessory socket. Should the accessory socket still be able to drain the battery with the ignition switch off? and isn't 14.7v too high. Thanks for the videos they’re very informative.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      14.7v isn't too high, but if it is constantly this figure then the battery is discharged and requires charging (which the alternator is doing). If there is a 0.4a constant drain then this will drain the battery in a couple days at least. If the battery is constantly going flat, jump started and charged, then it could well now be faulty. I would look into hard wiring the dash cam into an ignition live (careful though as they can knock out DAB reception). The battery monitor sensors on these vehicles have a faulty batch .. if the part number on it is not ending with C* then it requires changing and there could be a BCM configuration update available

      @@SYDiagnostics Thank you for your advice, so kind of you to reply. I am only too happy to talk with you over the phone and pay for your consultancy time please advise me if you feel this would be best.
      My battery monitor sensor is labeled as JX6T 10C679 CA, should I ask my local garage to replace this with a JX6T 10C679 CC ?.
      Thank you for your very helpful reply.
      Regards.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thesheddweller Hi, The battery monitor sensor part number is OK and doesn't need replacing, Can you remove the dash cam from any power source and re-check? 0.4A is too high a drain (0.02 - 0.05 is acceptable) it has been known the the telematics units can stay awake too with a 0.3-0.4a drain. If you have registered on ford pass app and can connect car to a wifi source, then these can be updated via the "wifi" section and check for updates. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins then re-connect. Try the amp drain again, often the telelmatics unit will re-set. Only camera ive fitted on a Ford Focus mk 4 was a genuine ford camera and i cant remember the fuse numbers used (one ignition one permanent)

  • @petervarga4592
    @petervarga4592 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good stuff. Thanks. I'd have a question which is kind of related to this topic but not exactly.
    I'd like to tap in one of the circuits to connect a dash cam but I'm not sure which fuse would be the best.
    I have chosen either the tail gate fuse or F80 the moonroof. However, since my car has not moonroof but has a fuse in F80 and there is current in it, I am not sure it is an "empty' circuit and is safe to connect to it or it has something else connected to it.
    I'd really appreciate if you could help me out with that. Cheers

  • @PinguTM
    @PinguTM ปีที่แล้ว

    would pulling the fuse fix this issue??? (I don't use keyless anyway)

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what else is on the circuit, there may well be issues by pulling the fuse. To answer your other question, the handles are available only from Ford
