Agreed. I play for the win. I don't care the way I win. Poison, Mill, Clock, Oracle, etc. A win is a win. It's all part of the game. Only thing not acceptable is cheating. Weaving in paper or ghosting online.
@@nathreetimesnineequalstwen7172 I didn't make them put a click heavy loop in their deck. They did. If they time out then clearly they need the practice. I provide them that opportunity. You guys have to remember that right now Magic has 3 games. They are all based off of the paper game, but all 3 are different in their own way. There is paper with it's rules. You share a clock and can't do 4 horsemen style decks. Lots of manual shuffling in older formats. MTGO and it's rules. You have all the freedom to do what you want, but have your own clock to consider. Arena and it's rules. The one that's most distant from the original rules. Automatic Mana Weaving, and passing automatically removes bluffing. Also you can be timed out in mid automatic combo. So no Infinite loops here.

@@nathreetimesnineequalstwen7172 Having your opponent play their own deck isn't "being a jerk". Making a shallow, judgmental comment like yours, on the other hand, is typical of one.
Timing out opponents is a perfectly valid way to win. I think it's iffy to not scoop to an infinite combo in the hopes that they time out, but otherwise full green light.
Mtgo could do with a feature that's used on some chess-sites: a gentleman button that gifts your opponent 15 seconds on the clock, for those exact situations where slow play is not their fault, and you wanna beat them fairly without any salt. Although, since mtgo uses their clock to synchronize multi-match tournaments, perhaps that would be too easy to abuse.
Harry! Love your videos, 100% would watch the full vods with comments if you streamed! Would love to see more content and vods are an easy way to double up on the long form some of us enjoy as well! Great deck, happy to see Spike helping out.

Interesting thought, but it wouldn't really work in a tournament structure that depends on all previous rounds to finish before decided the next matchups for a league. One pair of stallers could delay all players in the tourney by hours if they wanted. In one-of matches or casual games, I definitely agree.
@@OGDaybreak I guess you can set it up as the player who hits 0 now has until the last game is over to finish their game. If they don't finish in time, then they lose.
I built a list like this around a year back. Really nice to see something that felt unique and creative to me see some potential at a competitive level. It was just an Esper kitchen table list that was all about abusing Sagas using Hex Parasite, Power Conduit, and Ferropede. I think I built it a few months before Kaldheim.
Depends on the reason for time out. If they time out because they take 2 minutes to make every decision thats on them. If you make them click through an infite combo that can be short cut in paper thats a bit shitty
I made a version of this deck awhile back with maindeck Chalice of the Voids... Can add or remove counters from them at instant speed to stop your opponents resolving things while still allowing you to cast cheap stuff at that value, and being tutorable off saga as well
3:08 "Vial in a nettlecyst" Is that a term like bolting the bird used to describe a certain play? If not and was just a mistake it definitely should be a thing.
round 1 was the grimiest thing I've every seen. Old wisdom I was taught, your opponent has to make you respect them. Show me the kill. If it's mtgo and it's a loop that the only thing separating me and dead is a billion clicks, sure I'll scoop to save time, especially if there is no other negative change of your board state besides the time ticking down and it's all 1 turn. In paper you demonstrate your kill loop or goal, you've just gotta do the same thing 1000 times, I'll scoop because I don't want to be down a game with a dwindling clock. But that circumstance they're passing the turn, milling out, and you're still getting draws, then no, show me the nuts. It's not a time out victory, it's the opponent taking too long to seal the deal, that's on them.
As someone who plays Lantern Control in paper, I see nothing wrong with timing out at all. If I end up going 1-0-1 in a round, I'm pretty pleased with myself.
Hi, nice video and nice brew. About the hammer on inkmoth/blinkmoth, the only downside of the hammer is that it looses flying when equipped, so infect wouldnt do much in this situation
My only issue with timeouts is that they dont happen in paper, and that takes me out of the game. It should just be standard 50 minutes + time rounds IMHO.
As long as playing in a league costs real money and the reward for winning is possibly earning some value out of that, timing an opponent out is A-OK for me.
Timing someone out is fine. People whine about people taking 2 minutes to think through their outs and calling judges over for "slow play", so the timers are much preferred.
One thing is play for the clock ... Another os playing your game and your oponent Run out of time.. example... If. U know u are dead for an infinite combo or something like that ... Than its kind of d*ck move to not concede.... But if you are still in the game than its not really your fault.
I only think playing to the clock and timing out an opponent as a wincon is obnoxious if they're doing an infinite combo, ie forcing them to click through Splinter Twin or something. Personally, it sort of just feels like bad sportsmanship. Obviously not against the rules, but it's a). really dumb MTGO doesn't allow you to demonstrate a loop like you can do in paper and b). If you can't actually answer the combo then you've effectively lost and trying to make them lose to their own dexterity or whatever is just kinda shitty
Personally I think you have no responsibility for your opponent submitting a click intensive grindy deck. They chose that themselves. So as long as you're not purposefully waiting odd amounts of time to force them to take a few extra seconds each time they pass prio, you do you. You deserved the win.
Need to ask AspiringSpike about that one! I didn't design the deck. If I had to guess why he did it, it's cause the card is extremely slow in a fast Modern format.
@@HarryMTG im not sure if he gave u this list before or after Fiddlebender since u mention it so ye, either he thought that or this was before he added it to the list then? :o
Ragavan is a pushed, oversight, bonkers fucking card in of itself but it's NOT a win condition. Modern is not Legacy and if you cannot remove Ragavan or outright ignore it with a much stronger form of interaction then your deck is likely doing something wrong.

Nothing wrong with your opponent timing out, you both have separate clocks, it’s not like paper where we share a clock.

sounds like a great idea - just don't implement the button for those tournaments
yo great concept - I'd love to see more collabs like this in the future
timing is completely fair. it's a part of chess. after playing mtgo exclusively for months, it felt weird not having a similar system for paper magic.
I had a guy tank for 2 minutes once in standard on his first turn the play Elvish Mystic

Nice deck.
Magic Aids is also coming up with new decks from time to time. Wasn't he the first to try the power conduit + Urza's Saga engine?
No he said in his first video that he took the idea from someone else
No
Magic Aids is definitely an excellent brew master. Just gotta watch his videos at 75% speed to help make his commentary easier to follow 😂
he was the first to really put it out there. he is also a forefather of 5c humans
Would be nice if there was an optional feature where you can give the opponent your clock time to extend nice games both players are enjoying :)

I saw that idea with Power Conduit and Sagas a few weeks algo in the Magic Aids channel. Really amazing

Not tutorable off of saga. Has to be an artifact with specifically 0 or 1 mana cost
You can't tutor for Chalice
Love your interactions with the streamers you are drawing inspiration from.
Also the clock thing, "don't hate the player, hate the game".
in chess, they say the clock is a piece. i believe that same logic can be applied to Magic. timeouts are fair game

If not and was just a mistake it definitely should be a thing.
I just use “vial in” for any activated ability that makes something cheaper. Maybe I picked it up from someone but honestly don’t remember!
Love these consistent uploads
The Power Conduit / sagas interaction is *cheff's kiss*.
The new Seb McKinnon Plains from DU look extremely sick, excellent choice.

TBH I never saw Ragavan as an Issue... however that Saga interaction is interesting!
Why you tempt to me again with this.
Can someone explain why OG Eiganjo is here?
Low deckbuilding cost to just include it in place of 1 plains, and it works with Jegantha
