Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think it's great to still get use out of those older cameras so they aren't just sitting collecting dust even if you're not shooting film anymore. Hope you've gotten some great shots with them over the years!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! It’s a really fun system. If you’re someone that gets enjoyment out of the equipment you use, not just see it as a means to an end, it’s a hard system to beat (imo).
The digital back does have a cover that attaches to it to protect the sensor when not connected to a camera body, but no there's no dark slide for it when attached to the 500CM.
Great video! With the adapter to use the older lenses, is it now completely manual or is the sensor choosing the shutter speed to go with your chosen aperture?
Thank you so much! With the old lenses on the newer bodies, you use an electronic shutter, so the shutter speed is governed on the camera body and aperture is governed on the lens itself. Definitely slows you down and takes some time to get used to, but it’s much easier if you’re running in aperture priority mode to let the digital body do some of the work.
For sure! The old lenses are obviously not as optically sharp or clear as the new ones, but I think they add a really nice look to the shots (as long as you're okay slowing down for manual focus).
looking at your video I would like to go out and shoot, thanks very much!! I have the 500 C/M, the 903 CSW and the CFV50C and now the CFV100, so much fun to use it. I would like to ad: the CFV backs are usable on many other cameras. I use it with adapter on my 4x5 cameras and even on pinhole Zero45 and on the universal Cambo Actus with all kinds of lenses and very often I use shift lenses on the 907X, for example the Canon 24mm TSE and the LAOWA 15mm f4.5 Zero-D Shift
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve been thinking about swapping the 50C for 100C but I haven’t made up my mind. That’s really cool it can be used with those other systems as well!
Last but not least, Hasselblad RAW software Phocus has optical corrections for all older adapted Hasselblad lenses, correcting vignetting, distorsion, AC's. With the old manual lenses Zeiss V system, X-Pan you have to notice lens type, aperture and focus distance for each frame and write them down in Phocus. With newer H series adapted lenses corrections are automatic.
You can adapt V lenses in a cheaper way. I bought a V to Nikon F adapter, and a Nikon F to Hasselblad X adapter. None of them are expensive. I put them on top of each other, and can now use V lens on my X bodies. Bonus is, that you can also use Nikon F on X cameras, and V lenses on Nikon cameras, both of which I do. I have a whole video on my channel on adapting lenses to Hasselblad X cameras in the cheapest possible way. My channel is Key2adventure.
Very good film to show the white teeshirt and the daylight outside. We can't see anything on camera, with the shadows and surrounding plants distracting. Focus the main light on what you are showing. And add a light, neutral table top to highlight the camera
I've had my 907xCFV100c for about six months now -but not been tempted to use it vintage style on an old 500 as really I don't see the point - the new lenses are so sharp - however I can see why others do and thats great -keeping those old cameras alive with a bit of a modern thinking and none of that unnecessary film nonsense which is time consuming, messy and expensive by comparison - also the 1.3x crop akin to the H5D, and the H6D but not the H6D100c seems a bit of a killer in my opinion
I still shoot film occasionally so it’s fun to be able to use the camera body with a digital back. It’s a slower process for sure. I don’t think it would make sense for anyone to have it as their main setup. But it can be fun just for something different and the look you get out of the old lenses!
Just to be a bit pedantic, the H5D-60 (and btw the H4D-60 too) has no crop just like the H6D-100c, while the H5D-50 (the CCD one, without “c”) has a small 1.1 crop. Only the H5D-50c (CMOS) and the H5D-40 do have a 1.3 crop.
…and btw, if you look at the older CFV CCD backs like the CFV50 (again, without “c”), you’ll just have a much smaller crop (1.1), but ISO usable to 400, not beyond…
I have used the 100C on my 500CM, it’s just lovely to use and the lenses have a beautiful softness which just stays the same the more you zoom in to the file. It’s fun and I also get lots of comments from passers-by when they say it’s great to see someone using film LOL! But using the 100C with the 907X and the modern lenses is a pleasure too and a lot more compact, incredible for a 100MP camera.
If anyone is upgrading from the 50 back to the 100 back and wants to cut me a deal, please send me a message. Otherwise I'll stick with my 500c and my lens trio.
I just picked up a 500c w/an 80 mm f/2.8 and Makro-Planar 120 mm f/5.6 lenses and two A12 film backs. I could certainly see getting a CFV 100C to use on the 500c.
Hasselblad screwed up with the CFV backs….because it almost makes portrait mode impossible with an old body, INSTEAD of having a featured ROTATING sensor.
Excellent video... I have the 501 C + some lenses and I m very close to pull the trigger on a digital back for it... I love that also I'll be able to mount my lenses on the 907X ... 🙂 just subscribed to your IG acount ... love your IR also Jerome (aka @grompicts ..
Best video I have seen regarding both of these cameras and when you marry one to another. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Very well presented. I have the 907X and three bodies from the film years that I use often. Thank you

Excellent video... I have been thinking of a Hassie system to replace my current 35 and 120 setup plus the added bonus of digital - so awesome.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! It’s a really fun system. If you’re someone that gets enjoyment out of the equipment you use, not just see it as a means to an end, it’s a hard system to beat (imo).
Absolutely great video for this application. Thanks for producing.
Glad it was useful!
By the way, Hasselblad still uses the “vhpictures” code, right up to the most recent 75P lens
Super cool. There’s no dark slide or way to protect that sensor back during transport though? Is it a dust magnet?
The digital back does have a cover that attaches to it to protect the sensor when not connected to a camera body, but no there's no dark slide for it when attached to the 500CM.
Thank you for sharing and explaining.
You’re welcome! I hope you found it useful
Great video. I'm been wondering how this worked and how easy/complicated it was. Thanks.
Thank you! Hope I helped!
Really love using the X system and though i still shoot film most of the time, its a relief knowing my 500 will leave throughout the digital era
Yeah it’s great that the film systems aren’t just left to rot but can still be enjoyed.
Good info thanks 👍🏻
Thank you, really glad you found it useful!

@@PavornocPhotography Thanks! I've had my Blads since the 80's, be nice to not have to reinvest in lenses again.

@@PavornocPhotography Yeah, that's why I like them. The new stuff is too sharp and images, to me, look fake and unrealistic.

Whats the len adapter name?
It's called the XV Lens Adapter. You can find it on Hasselblad's online store under Accessories or at BH Photo or other stores.

Thanks for the suggestion. Still very new to video making.
Is it compatible with hasselblad 2000 series?
It is, yes.

When I tell people the camera is just a box with a hole in it, they never believe me 😀

Honestly I just use live view on the CFV and turn the whole camera on its side 😂
The only thing I was interested in this video was the comparison of the screen/viewfinder (ground glass) and the image quality. That’s not here.
I'm sorry that my video, which wasn't about that, didn't cover that one specific thing. I'll try harder in the future.

I think it’s really fun to use the two systems together. It’s not ideal for you main workflow, but you can get some really interesting images.
You cannot buy the back alone, it's bundled with the 907X
@@jean-claudemuller3199 yup I know 🙂 Thx
