Adriana, I liked your points about core values and how to know what your personal core values are. As I was going through your video, one thing I thought I didn't agree with was when you said that if I answered yes to any of the questions, it wasn't a core value. I thought of the question if you have ever lost a value when stressed. My thought process was that we aren’t perfect and a value lost may still be a core value. The important thing is that we keep with it trying to develop that value. I then had a light come on, perhaps seeing it more from your perspective. Maybe the value you lost during stress isn’t necessarily a core value, but perhaps determination is in reality the underlying value. No we aren’t perfect, but perhaps if we go through your test, maybe there’s a value we are missing underlying the value we thought was at our core. Thank you for sharing. This video really helped me in identifying my values.

Hi Janelle- thanks for the comment. Yay...so glad you live by your values. They are powerful and make decision making a lot easier. What was the most memorable decision you made based on a core value?
Hi bumped into your video when searching for a simple way to explain to my partner what core values are so that we can talk about his and mine. Thank you for helping me to save a bunch of time.
Thank you so much Adriana, In such a simple and easy way you explained what are core values and why theya re important along with the litmus test questions that we need to ask before choosing our core values , Much Gratitude to you
In a perfect world, we would never sabotage our core values. In the real world, things like trauma, grief, and fear have a tendency to take over. Furthermore, if we have been controlled and abused by another, including religion and the workplace, we tend to not have access to our core beliefs and find our lives have been carefully crafted by someone and/or someone else. It is why so many of us live in great dissonance and search for videos on how to discover our core values and beliefs. We are not two dimensional creatures. I went to your list and found many descriptive words on characteristics. Among those were a few core words, such as fairness, bravery, and family. They fall into different core categories. For example, bravery is a core emotion that inspires action and defines the way we show up in life. Fairness would be more of a core belief, meaning everyone should be treated fairly, despite status, religion, political leanings, gender, etc. Fairness is demonstrated by several of the characteristics you listed, such as equality, accountability, ethical treatment, honesty, attentiveness, balance, etc. There is a massive difference between core values and beliefs and character qualities. Qualities won't always reflect our core values when under great duress. We'd like them to, but no one is perfect and we aren't the same in every given moment or day. This does not mean our core values are not real. It means we have violated them, just as many others have before. We learn to violate and hide our core values to survive. Though I do believe we can dig for those values by starting with characteristics and qualities that we like, such as the many provided on your list, it is important to understand the difference between a core value, core belief, and how those either show up or are covered up in our lives. If they are being covered up, as is the case for many, starting with generic qualities can help with the discovery process. This will often showcase how and when we are untrue to ourselves. I would like to add that core values and beliefs do evolve over time. As we gain life experience, what was once a core value in our earlier life may take on a different life later. For example, in my youth, I refused to respect authority unless it proved to be valuable and trustworthy. I believed most weren't. Giving people grace was not a priority, so proving one's right to authority was difficult. Sometimes impossible, depending on a particular position held. Today, I do not immediately dismiss those in positions of authority unless they make it a point to demonstrate unchecked power and privilege. In my youth, I believed most people in positions of authority were out to control and enslave me. Many were, and I was defenseless outside rebellion. Though I still hold this belief to a much smaller degree, I know there are many deserving people in positions of authority worthy of my support. One of my core values is fairness. Because of this, I do not believe people in positions of authority should be treated any better than anyone else. A core belief is that all authority and power should be questioned when necessary, which involves things like bravery, accountability and transparency. This keeps people and institutions in check and balanced. Sometimes a person may hold our life in their hands, literally. In order to survive, we might violate our core belief by holding our tongues. Do you see what I am getting at? Thank you for providing a starting place.
Hi Michelle. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I can see that this is an important topic to you based on your in-depth reply. I appreciate your perspective and I am sure others who may read your comment will find it useful. Please note that what is suggested in the video can and ought to be accommodated to suit individual needs. Think of it as guidance and insight. The ultimate goal for everyone is to reflect on their answers and to revisit identified core values until they find the one/s that resonate with their heart center, soul and inner wisdom. For some people this can be immediate and for others it may be a longer journey. There is no ‘right’ answer only what is right for each individual. Once a person finds their true core value it will stay with them as they will cherish it, be aligned with it and use it to make life decision with it. That is the ultimate end goal. Cheers.
Litmus test 3:39 would you sacrifice anything for money? 4:01 have you lost any of the core values at the time of stress? 4:09 do you wish that after 25 years this value still holds true to you? 4:37 would you stop holding it if Sometimes it becomes a competitive disadvantage.
Very helpful, thank you!!! I am now convinced what my core values are, the values that I honestly and genuinely will never trade for all money in the world . Thank you again ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
1- choose 3-5 core values from a list. 2- know what this value means to you. 3- ask your self about it. If you are not following the values 24/7 you can start again.
I personally believe peoples core values should continuously evolve over their lives. Their is one thing that might count as a core value that has stayed constant throughout my life, and that is the refusal to believe that I can know what will be important to me in the distant future. It is the reason that I never got a tattoo. I knew in my 20's that I would not agree with the things I find most valuable to day when I was 70. I guess maybe my true core value is that my values will grow and change throughout my life as I learn more and more about the world and my place in this world.
This is awesome, thanks Adriana! I'm a big fan of striving to embody my values in everyday life, but I really like how you break it down into only 3 to help you navigate!
Most Underestimated Underrated Overlooked Thing in ones self discovery. It is damn real important one... Honestly no words to say, Great Service friend ❤
Authenticity, dignity and Freedom. I feel these three to my core and they will never be negotiable that’s how I know. I’m trying to figure out if I have two more that I feel this strong for.
Really strange question, ik, but I'm very curious about something. Do you still have those core values and what do you think about The Unabomber Manifesto?
My core values is my religion islam,, my privacy, equal rights and justice to everyone, gracefulness, authencity, loyalty, Conscientious, empatic, peacefulness. I think evil is my biggest enemy and I will win In-sha-Allah
Hey Adriana, i just wanted to say thanks a lot for this video... lately I’ve been having a hard time identifying my real core values and these 3 steps made it so clear that my core value (so far could only identify one haha) is EQUALITY!
Hi Hamim, I am so happy to hear that this video has helped you on your path to identifying your core values. Take your time, and remember, they are ones that you choose to live by, so don't rush it. One is a good start and a great core value I might say. Soon you will identify 2, and then 3! Thanks for watching, cheers!
I agree with the litmus test questions you provided aside from the first one involving money, especially a large amount. It complicates and contradicts some people values and for those that live painfully in poverty, it’s incredibly unfair.
I don’t know how much I agree with this after writing the questions down and really hearing what your saying about it in the video. I can see how some people can answer yes to these questions and still be living by there core values . For example : someone who values money or wealth , someone who values competition and innovation, maybe even someone who values grit and independence . I really have to really think about this video .
Hi Bianca, thanks for your comment. Your core values are ones that stay with you 24/7 and will never change as they are connected to your essence of who you are. Find your 2-3 values that resonate with you and then you can have as many supporting values as you would like. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, cheers!
My core value is at the core of my values. I start with my why and move to a proprietary system of robust measurements to extract the data necessary to accelerate my core value paradigm to achieve maximum success in half the time.
Great video. I wonder is there a complete book about personal branding as a whole and choosing direction in terms of a vision/misson statement? My three core values are 1. Spirituality 2. Family 3. Altruism/support. Maybe growth/learning/improvement.
Thank you, Cann. I am so happy that this video on finding your core values was so helpful to you. I have a 2 part course I put out when COVID started on developing your personal vision statement. It’s free and on my channel. Check it out if you have time:) thanks for watching, cheers
Thankfully, no I'm not BUT I will say that the three steps are a great litmus test to run my core values through, nonetheless. I can tell you that no amount of money, for example, could sway me from them...and while I've passed up some opportunities as a result, my integrity has remained intact as a result. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and have happily subscribed!
Thank you Stacey for your comment and subscribing. I really appreciate it. Sounds like you already get it! Good for you to sticking to your core values. I, too, have passed up opportunities because it was directly against my core values and I never regret it. Living my life authentically and from the heart is really important to me. Sounds like its the same for you. Would you mind sharing your core values?
I'm immersed in this. I read a book with a similar theme, and I was completely immersed. "The Art of Saying No: Mastering Boundaries for a Fulfilling Life" by Samuel Dawn

Hello Adriana, thank you for this video. I have a question about the litmus test; will these questions still apply to someone who is trying to find their identity!? Someone who was living a life based on the narrative of others and trying to start afresh? Thank you 🙏🏽
@SUZIEand AMHIGLYFAVOURED, You can use the litmus test and these questions. Finding your values can also be a good way to helping you find your identity. Thanks for watching, cheers!
I have a question. With the question, “have you lost any core value in times of stress?”, what if it’s a core value you admire but it’s hasn’t been implemented in your life before? For instance, I like the idea of self-improvement/self-growth but in the past, I’ve been a lazy person and chose comfort over working on myself. Should I cross it off my list since it’s something I’ve failed at in the past when times became tough or should I still consider it if it’s something I really wanna implement in my life?
Thanks so much for watching the video. Regarding your question....cross off core values that you ignore all the time and if you are honest with yourself only have due to pressure or expectation from others. Remember, core values are something you live 24/7, not when it’s just convenient. Now...the question I have for you is why do you chose comfort over self improvement? Is fear driving this response? The fact that you are asking the question is a good thing. You now have awareness of it. Decide now if self improvement is truly important to you. Will you at any point in time regret not connecting to yourself and being the best you can be? If you answer yes, put it back on your core value list and start living it. No more excuses. Otherwise take it off your list. Failing at a core value you do not resonate with will only set you up for failure. That is not the purpose of finding and living your core values. Hope this helped and all the best. Cheers. Ps: living core values, 24/7, in itself is self improvement.
I found this test really helpful. My core values - Health (mental , physical, spiritual) was top followed by Openess and Compassion. But maybe they’re universal ? I can’t see these changing over time .
I think a good question to also ask, if you aren't living by these core values that you selected do you feel like you're not living to your full potential or to your truest self?
It is also possible to find improvements on what we consider our actual core value as well as on our life progress and different perspectives that can make them be adjusted, Thanks for this video ❤
1. Define Values 2. Understand values 3. Litmus test (would you sacrifice money for this value? Have you lost any values in times of stress? Do you envision that this value will hold true in 20+ years? Would you stop holding these values if they ever became threatened by competition?)
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very Thanks !

Outstanding vedio. Thank you for putting this together and explaining fundamentals of core values. Your questions about validating if the core value is truely a core value was an eye opener for me. I have always struggled with this determination and now you have shown me a path forward. Thank you 🙏
Thank you Kira....understanding your core values will allow you to choose the right decisions in your life which will hopefully lead you to more ADVENTURES!
Hi Anna, Yes! This step is so important to make sure your really know your core values. It's essential not to skip this last step. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Fantastic video, I love the steps. But, I personally disagree about keeping the same core values for the entirety of your life, as we grow older, we can experience life lessons and wisdom that may change our perspective on certain aspects on life, which may cause use to re evaluate our values
Thank you for watching. As we grow older we will learn and possibly look at this a bit differently. There are things we thought were important that many not be as much so. Having said that a core value is something we live by no matter age or circumstance. It’s the line in the sand that we draw. For example, if honesty is one of your core values, it is one you live by regardless of your age, life experiences or lessons learned along the way. Thanks for sharing and hope this helps differentiate between a value and a core value. Cheers!
Can I make a decision of A relationship that was violated prior to discovering or implementing most valued core beliefs of Being or core values? Thank you
Hey! I loved this video. Thanks so much for putting it together. One question I had was, do you think it is good or reasonable to have any core values that are aspirational rather than purely descriptive? For example, there are some traits that I don't think I've always embodied in the past but that I would like to use as guideposts in the future. If you wouldn't call these core values, what would be a good way of thinking about them? Thanks!
Hi Matt! You are very welcome and thanks so much for watching! Thanks for the great video! My questions are: 1. I can't get the list below 10, but it seems too many, is there any ideal number? 2. One day I feel ths is the top, nex day that priority, but cannot fix prio, is that normal? How to fix priority? 3. A few depends on the other or next values, is this case are they just one Ie Honesty and Accountability, what I think = what I say = what I do, hard to differentiate. Same with Brave and Confidence, confidence is a byproduct when I'm brave, direct cosequence. In these cases, are they 2 or just 1 value? I call 2 value metavalues, referring to other values like Freedom because without them, the rest don't make any sense. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance

Hi, how did you create or come up with the litmus test? Is it your own creation or is it a tool commonly used, if so how? I have been googling about it without great success other than the reference to ‘test for acidity or alkalinity using litmus’. Thx.
The litmus test is used to to measure a person, situation or idea. When you run your core values through a litmus test you are asking yourself, Does this idea bring me joy? Is this relationship in integrity? Does this situation create a sense of aliveness? If you answer yes then they have passes the litmus test and can be considered a core value. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, cheers!

You are so very welcome! Thanks for watching and wishing you all the best. Cheers!
Video starts at 1:42.
You are welcomed
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Great video. I love how you explained core values and broke it down into “dummy terms”
Thank you so much and thanks for watching g, cheers!
Thank you so much Adriana, In such a simple and easy way you explained what are core values and why theya re important along with the litmus test questions that we need to ask before choosing our core values , Much Gratitude to you
You’re very welcome and thanks for watching, cheers!
Great video on core value. Love the LITMUS TEST to actually test my values.
Thank you for your comment Karina. When you did the litmus test where you surprised by the outcome?
Hello nice to meet you where are you from I will like to know more about you if you don't mind?
Cheers.
Litmus test
3:39 would you sacrifice anything for money?
4:01 have you lost any of the core values at the time of stress?
4:09 do you wish that after 25 years this value still holds true to you?
4:37 would you stop holding it if Sometimes it becomes a competitive disadvantage.
Thanks for watching, cheers!
Very helpful, thank you!!!
I am now convinced what my core values are, the values that I honestly and genuinely will never trade for all money in the world .
Thank you again ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
I am thrilled that this video was helpful! Thanks for sharing and watching, cheers!
1- choose 3-5 core values from a list.
2- know what this value means to you.
3- ask your self about it.
If you are not following the values 24/7 you can start again.
Thank you so much for watching, cheers!
@Joseph2day thank you for sharing that and for watching, cheers.
Love, Faith, Strength
Wonderful! Thanks or watching and sharing. Cheers!
Thank you so much for making this public. I will use this with my students to help them discover their own core values. Love & Light.

This is awesome, thanks Adriana! I'm a big fan of striving to embody my values in everyday life, but I really like how you break it down into only 3 to help you navigate!

Authenticity, dignity and Freedom. I feel these three to my core and they will never be negotiable that’s how I know.
I’m trying to figure out if I have two more that I feel this strong for.
Hi Melody. Thank you for sharing your core values and for watching, cheers!
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!! CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH
You are so very welcome! Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
My cores values determine the course of my life. So important.
Agreed! Can you imagined if everyone understood and followed their core values? Do you have one core value that resonates with you the most?
PS: love your channel...I subscribed. Perhaps we can collaborate?
Awesome video that not only explains what core values are but also provides three easy steps to shortlist, define and select them.
Hi Rajesh! I hope this video helped you to find your core values :) Thanks for watching, cheers!
Hello nice to meet you where are you from I will like to know more about you if you don't mind?
I appreciate how easy it is to follow your step-by-step guides.
I am so glad to hear that this video was so easy to follow. Thanks for watching, cheers!
My core value is at the core of my values. I start with my why and move to a proprietary system of robust measurements to extract the data necessary to accelerate my core value paradigm to achieve maximum success in half the time.
Sounds fantastic! Thanks for watching and sharing, cheers!
great video Adriana, love these steps on finding your core values!
Thanks for stopping by to watch this core values video, Christina. So glad you liked the steps. Cheers!

Hello nice to meet you where are you from I will like to know more about you if you don't mind?
Great video. I wonder is there a complete book about personal branding as a whole and choosing direction in terms of a vision/misson statement? My three core values are 1. Spirituality 2. Family 3. Altruism/support. Maybe growth/learning/improvement.
Thank you, very well explained .
You’re very welcome. Thank you for watching, cheers!
Thank you so much for this video and the core-values list! I did this and I found out new things about myself :)

@@AdrianaGirdler Cool! : ) Will hav a look. Thank you.
This is brilliant! Love your 3 easy step process! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Finding your core values is something I truly believe in so I'm glad this video had a positive impact on you. Cheers!

Nice video but the Litmus test questions arent framed well. Inspite of that, this is very very helpful in finding values. Thank you. Love from India ❤
Adriana .... I’m about to do a video on this very topic aim at leaders and communicators. You nailed it. Maybe I should just post your video on my site and call it good! You nailed it. LOL
Too many people have no idea about this very important topic and how it impacts their life.
Haha! Wow, thanks so much for the compliment, Rich! I agree, core values are more impactful than many people realize. I'm glad the video resonated with you, and you can totally feel free to share it with people who you think might need to hear it! I'll be watching for your video to come out and I can't wait to see your take on the topic! Thanks for your comment. Cheers!
I think a core value that you admire could become a supporting value
I found this test really helpful. My core values - Health (mental , physical, spiritual) was top followed by Openess and Compassion. But maybe they’re universal ? I can’t see these changing over time .
I am thrilled to hear that this video helped you to find your core values! Thank you for sharing them with me and for watching, cheers!

I think a good question to also ask, if you aren't living by these core values that you selected do you feel like you're not living to your full potential or to your truest self?
Great question to ask yourself. Thanks for sharing and watching, cheers!

Tatiana Czuchnowsky thanks Tatiana. What are your core values?
Thank you so much, Adriana! I love that!

1. Define Values
2. Understand values
3. Litmus test (would you sacrifice money for this value? Have you lost any values in times of stress? Do you envision that this value will hold true in 20+ years? Would you stop holding these values if they ever became threatened by competition?)
Thank you so much for watching. Hope this video was of value to you. Cheers!

Outstanding vedio. Thank you for putting this together and explaining fundamentals of core values. Your questions about validating if the core value is truely a core value was an eye opener for me. I have always struggled with this determination and now you have shown me a path forward. Thank you 🙏

Thank you. Good questions to 'test' your values.
Cheers!
Do you mind clarifying what you mean by it "becoming a competitive disadvantage"?
hey @TessRolston - think of this as the opposite of a competitive advantage, so usually something negative. Cheers!
Can I make a decision of A relationship that was violated prior to discovering or implementing most valued core beliefs of Being or core values? Thank you
If you are still apart of the relationship then yes you can apply your core values moving forward. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Great short video on core values. However, I wasn’t able to find the core value list on your website. Please advise. Thank you.
Found it! Thx! :)
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video, cheers!
Very nice video 👌,short and to the point
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching, cheers!
To answer your question, your core values are ones that stay with you 24/7 and will never change as they are connected to your essence of who you are. Find your 2-3 values that resonate with you and then you can have as many supporting values as you would like. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thank you!
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thanks for the great video!
My questions are:
1. I can't get the list below 10, but it seems too many, is there any ideal number?
2. One day I feel ths is the top, nex day that priority, but cannot fix prio, is that normal? How to fix priority?
3. A few depends on the other or next values, is this case are they just one
Ie Honesty and Accountability, what I think = what I say = what I do, hard to differentiate.
Hi Zoltan. Aim for 3 core values if you can. I have a two part series on how to find your vision and I think these will help to answer most of your questions. I will leave the link to the videos here for you. Thanks for watching and wishing you all the best and great success. Cheers!

Is there an opposite of values? Like knowing what we aren't? Would this be a helpful exercise?
Sometimes know what we aren’t can help narrow down the list. Try it out and see if that works for you.
Lovely! Very helpful. :)
Larissa Czuchnowsky Thank you Larissa. What are your core values?
