Green Goblin immediately assuming Spider-Man died with no evidence other than that he fell makes so much sense in hindsight after his whole "the shock of falling will kill you instantly!" thing on the bridge
Here’s my defense of the Green Goblin’s monologue about how Gwen died: When he was shooting, “Fool, she was dead before she your webbing reached her”, what he (mainly the writer) meant was that the moment she went over the edge the speed of her falling was her doom. It didn’t matter if his web reached her or not, either the impact of hitting the water would have killed her or the sudden stop by the webbing would have. As for why the Green Goblin would have shouted this, outside of the writer hoping to explain this, it was to make Spider-Man feel far more terrible in that no matter what he did she was going to die. Though I do agree that him shouting this only makes him more guilty because he caused her to go over the edge in the first place.

I saw Romita's original artwork of Gwen's death on display in an exhibit in Philly a few months ago. It was pretty surreal seeing something so important to the history of my favorite character in real life.

In a lot of the comics spider-man doesnt get his just do when it comes to pure raw strength. Is he as strong as thor? Not even close. Hulk? Never. This comic is the reason why I find the ending of Spider-Man 2002 so confusing. It’s used so much iconography from this story but tweaks it to include Mary Jane. It’s such an odd choice to replace Gwen with MJ.

I always took it as cause she was knocked out and hit with the glider ot concussed her, and that plus the shock of falling killed her. That or Norman just wanted the credit for killing her.
For the drug stuff, it wasn't just Stan's idea to integrate the drugs. The Nixon administration asked them to do it, and he pointed to that when the Code wouldn't approve. The drug issues doing well with no real push back despite the Code not appearing lead to changes in how the Code would address drugs.

This is already one of my favorite Back Issues. The bit about New Yorkers yelling at Green Goblin about the bridge killed me.
I think the intent of the Goblin lying, telling peter that she was already dead was to tease him. Sorta like you never had the chance to save her.

I always took it as cause she was knocked out and hit with the glider ot concussed her, and that plus the shock of falling killed her. That or Norman just wanted the credit for killing her.
