I can't count how many times Backissues has been like : "Okay, this book is so dumb..." *describes book in glorious detail* Actually that sounds awesome. the end.
...PICTURE THIS: the scene in the Avengers Movie when all the avenger are standing in a circle for that awesome glamour shot then captain America spouts orders to all of them ...Now imagine that scene where all the avenger are replaced by the ComicPoP crew everyone except Captain America Captain America: Sal! explain whats going on to every who just got here while stroking your goatee ever so gently. Tiffany! do your best Dr. Strange impression. Ben! Get very annoyed and confused because after an epic story the ending kinda sucks and Ethan! (Ethan turns his head as Captain America points to him) .........get physical.
Oh my god. These goddamn close ups crack me up man. That Ben heavy metal close up. That gradual close up for Ethan. That "what a douche" Sal close up. xD
The reason that Norman & Harry Osbourne's graves are at the cemetery is cause Spider-Man keeps that place in business! Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacey and lots of other people are buried there, Spidey brings that place good business!
Funny thing about this story. I grew up only knowing the story as it was presented in the SNES game. It is stripped down to its bare bones there. Carnage breaks out and visits Jameson. In return for not killing him, Jameson releases a nationwide paper (somehow), which attracts Venom's attention. Carnage, Scream, Demogoblin and Doppleganger slaughter everyone they see at random, inciting riots across New York. As the city's problems grow, it attracts the attention of the other heroes who join Spiderman. The story ends with everyone believing Carnage to be dead, except for Spiderman and Venom, who confront Carnage at his old orphanage. They fight him there. I never beat it so I don't know what happens afterward.
Now Ethan and Ben know why the clue for Sal's gift was "I feel it in my blood". Fantastic episode. I'm all nostalgic now... between this, off the rack, and the Wizard stream. Thank you guys for this whole week of awesome throwbacks.
23:09 Ben: Why does every god dam Spider-Man story need a Goblin. It's sort of like how every Batman story needs Joker, not saying it's bad but kind of ironic
I always remember the big difference between carnage and venom was that venom would say 'we' while carnage would say I as he had merged completely with the symbiotic due to him being full on crazy. Not sure if that is being continued now though. Also there's nothing wrong with some 90's black cat as a 13 year old I remember she was drawn properly hot back then!
At this point in the characters time, he couldn't release the symbiote at will. After Spider-Man and Venom acquire the sonic gun, they realize it has little effect on Carnage until Firestar shows up and we learn that Carnage is extremely weak against heat. Carnage is left incapacitated until Shriek desperately runs over and intentionally cuts his face which releases the alien from his body and returning him to near full strength. At this point Cletus Kasady, explains that the alien has permanently altered his body and that his blood is literally just the alien oozing out of his body. Later on when the alien and Cletus Kasady become "complete" he can release it at will. By the way, not only was Shriek a metalhead, she was also.... a groupie ;)
Cyclops is the Perfect Example of when a Hero cheats on their significant & it all goes to hell for them. That was just psychic cheating & I don't think his character has ever really recovered or have fans really forgiven him.
TheDVDGrouch agreed we can also say that about spider-man aka peter parker ever since one more day his character hasn't recovered from that either nor did mary jane either she got screwed over too
your joking right? how much do you want bet that jean grey banged wolverine many times before that sht. cyclops was just the one who got caught cus he doesn't have the ability to mind rape any body who happend to catch them in the act
TheDVDGrouch I don't know if it's fair to single that out as the reason fans have not "forgiven" Cyclops. He's probably the least likeable hero in all of Marvel.
+TheDVDGrouch You're right I've never forgiven Scott for cheating on Jean and it's one of the reasons (possibly the biggest) I can't stand Emma so much.
Wow, Wizard Magazine in the background. Used to LOVE those mags! Especially the special ones that included a poster, or a mini-book, or a trading Card!
But this story is awesome. It's Carnage gathering a group of super villains doing evil and Spider-Man getting a group of super hero to fight them. That is awesome.
the only thing i remember about this was the game. and thats only because a friend of mine was playing it on a stream and we had a running gag of "surpise carnage" as he kept showing up out of nowhere.
In comics there are some truly powerful weapons the likes of the infinity gauntlet, the lantern corps rings and the ultimate nullifier to name a few but none of these compare to the might and magnificence of the love powered hope Ray. (P.s is it just me or is that thing intended to be in deathlocks groin.)
Uh are you referring to the Mastermind brainwashing thing? Or her close relationship with Wolverine? Because the former was psychological manipulation that occurred when the two were taking a break while dating (i.e not married. Not even together, really) and the latter was just a strong friendship and mutual attraction that neither of them acted on.
iamjason Emma wasn't the one married to Jean, Cyclops was so it doesn't matter if she truly loved him (doubt it since she slept with Namor) or not. Just like he was married to Madelyne Pryor but left her and his son once Jean was back. Also when did Jean cheat? She was attracted to Wolverine but I don't recall reading about them having sex.
20:00 The X-men as a whole were bouncing around between the Savage Land and outer space, if memory recalls. Say what you will about the ninetiees, but everyone had shit to do in the Marvel Universe. EDIT: Oh guys. I got a suggestion. Do a back issues of "Inferno" one of these days. It's deliciously stupid.
Yo sal. Another great episode. I've seen everyone. U guys at the weekly pull have actually gotten me interested in comic books. I'm in the middle of reading infinity but I was wondering if u could do another event from the ultimate unverse because I never hear much about that stuff. Keep up the amazing work guys #gettingphysicalwithethan
It was a stupid story but I really like it. Fight scenes are exiting (especially final fight) and Carnage team is funny (mostly dark humor). The biggest problem is 14 issue, it should be five or four issue.
I have wanted to see them go through this story for a while now. My next wish is the worst story of the Justice League. I can't wait for Ethan and Ben read that and then CRY FOR JUSTICE!!!
Coming back to this since I only found this channel a few months ago one of you I forget who brought up something that does end up in that recent run of carnage books about him making other symbiotes I think
Carlos Rodriguez JMS's entire run up until the Gwen Stacy twins arch. Stop before that one. Also Kraven's last hunt. And anything in the sixties is pretty fun.
I'm reading Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man run right now and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. The art takes a little while to get used to but by 10 issues in I was loving it. I'm at around issue 60 now and it hasn't once gotten boring. Definitely recommend.
USM, all of it. Although, you'll be super attatched to the art by issue 111, but sadly the original artist who has pencilled all 111 issues, leaves then. at the end of the series, he returns tho.
If this be my destiny is really good I think to get it you have to get the master works collection its cover should have Spider-Man trapped under heavy machinery with water pouring in.
Hey Sal, I've watched all of your Spider-Man Back Issues, and I noticed you dislike a pretty large amount of them. What is a Spider-Man story you would recommend? I've read Ultimate Spider-Man and really enjoyed that.
Still cant believe Sal achieved the dream of many chubby nerds...scoring the beautiful redhead!!! You guys dont give up on your sweet love you might find what you were looking for
soooo is it possible that the clone saga could ever be in here due to the fact that it is what it is i would just love to here you guys explain and react to it
So if "love" is Carnage's weakness a Care Bear could beat him.
🤣🤣🤣🤣omg
“I’m an intensive Care Bear.”
I can't count how many times Backissues has been like :
"Okay, this book is so dumb..."
*describes book in glorious detail*
Actually that sounds awesome.
the end.
thank you... another overlooked gem because it didnt meet "community guidelines" ...
Trust me. Maximum Carnage sucks. Like 10 of the issues have nothing that happens in them.
I will say: the book looks great.
The problem is that it is very repetive and the fights have little meaning. The game, from what I heard, is much better.
"Spider-Man's a menace, I saw him eat a hobo." quote of the video.
*Absolute Carnage gets announced*
*All the chimneys in New York start sweating*
...PICTURE THIS: the scene in the Avengers Movie when all the avenger are standing in a circle for that awesome glamour shot then captain America spouts orders to all of them
...Now imagine that scene where all the avenger are replaced by the ComicPoP crew everyone except Captain America
Captain America:
Sal! explain whats going on to every who just got here while stroking your goatee ever so gently.
Tiffany! do your best Dr. Strange impression.
Ben! Get very annoyed and confused because after an epic story the ending kinda sucks
and Ethan!
(Ethan turns his head as Captain America points to him)
.........get physical.
I rate 8/8 mate... Would probably steal the Oscar from Dicaprio.
"The Avengers suck." Oh man, the picture that followed that statement was amazing.
Why am I just now finding out about ComicPop?? And how the hell did I get addicted so quickly?! Been binge watching back issues for like 3 days now
That Ben close up Re Shriek. Killed me. I've been burning threw these since I stumbled across this channel. Great stuff.
That Ben zoom in with the rock music had me rolling! That was hilarious, you could tell Ben was getting super excited about Shriek.
Funny thing about this story. I grew up only knowing the story as it was presented in the SNES game. It is stripped down to its bare bones there. Carnage breaks out and visits Jameson. In return for not killing him, Jameson releases a nationwide paper (somehow), which attracts Venom's attention. I'm tripping out, watching Sal explain the hope machine to Ethan. "I don't understand!!!!"
"I don't know what that means!"
ComicPOP! Are y'all celebrating 11,000 sub?
I remember reading this for the first time and constantly thinking, "When will this end?"
I bet Ben would like the Aunt May Herald of Galactus issue.
Now Ethan and Ben know why the clue for Sal's gift was "I feel it in my blood".
Fantastic episode. I'm all nostalgic now... between this, off the rack, and the Wizard stream.
Thank you guys for this whole week of awesome throwbacks.
NEXT on Getting Physical with Ethan: The Hope Ray!
Ethans face when he hears about the doppelgangers razor web is priceless.
i loved maximum carnage. the book and the game. nobody will ever change my mind. it was my first ever crossover. freaking dope
23:09 Ben: Why does every god dam Spider-Man story need a Goblin. It's sort of like how every Batman story needs Joker, not saying it's bad but kind of ironic
@33:38 I wish you guys would do a back issues on Mary Jane. You are spot on in how she was written at the time.
Venom and carnage and Spider-Man they will always be best friends.
The words "epic fight in the church" are now only allowed to be uttered if it refers to Kingsman The Secret Service.
Ethan " How do you build something that shoots HOPE I don't understand."
Neither do I LOL
"New York, New York" plays while Shreik and Carnage have a day out in New York, a serial killing montage.
maximum carriage is amazing
I always remember the big difference between carnage and venom was that venom would say 'we' while carnage would say I as he had merged completely with the symbiotic due to him being full on crazy. Not sure if that is being continued now though.
Also there's nothing wrong with some 90's black cat as a 13 year old I remember she was drawn properly hot back then!
supersi1980 That's continued today (Cletus Kasady/Carnage referring to himself as "I" as opposed to "we").
Ben gets happier every time Spider-Man's situation gets more shitty lol
23:29 Spider-Man is always implied! That needs to be a shirt.
At this point in the characters time, he couldn't release the symbiote at will. After Spider-Man and Venom acquire the sonic gun, they realize it has little effect on Carnage until Firestar shows up and we learn that Carnage is extremely weak against heat. Later on when the alien and Cletus Kasady become "complete" he can release it at will. By the way, not only was Shriek a metalhead, she was also.... a groupie ;)
Another great back issues on ComicPOP...
Ethan face once he hears that the machine shoots hope rays.... priceless
I really want to hear more about this AVPVT treatment that Sal's got tucked away cuz it sounds awesome!

TheDVDGrouch I don't know if it's fair to single that out as the reason fans have not "forgiven" Cyclops. He's probably the least likeable hero in all of Marvel.
TheDVDGrouch Oh, shit for Cyclops started WAY before that. He started by abandoning his wife and newborn son to chase his dead girlfriend around.
I still have the cards from those issues!
Benny's cutaways are so damn classic
In what other world would screaming THERE'S SO MANY FUCKING GOBLINS be relevant?
PS I'm saving that soundbite for my message tone, thanks Ben!
But this story is awesome. It's Carnage gathering a group of super villains doing evil and Spider-Man getting a group of super hero to fight them. That is awesome.
First english language comic I ever read back in 1994! Special place in my heart.
"Black Cat is just a cosplayer" this line killed me. And great episode guys!
Watch it Ben! , Don't diss Maximum overdrive with electrical devices in the house!
43:46 I started laughing so hard at your reactions to the Hope Machine.
You guys actually made this sound kinda cool. Heavy metal chicks and razor webs cutting cops heads off. I like it.
I'm neutral towards it. It's really badass, but really stupid at the same time.
the only thing i remember about this was the game. and thats only because a friend of mine was playing it on a stream and we had a running gag of "surpise carnage" as he kept showing up out of nowhere.
Been waiting for this for my entire life, probably.
12:21 is the best Sal quote ever
25:45 you can. it's called sumbag spider-man. and nobody would blame him because it's black cat. their friends with benifits... sometimes.
Havent read this series in ages so I reread it and even after this video ripping on it, i still love it
Nothing wrong with that.
Still love the video btw lol
"...and Tom Lyle, who I will never discuss." Aww no Robin volume one? lmao
44:23 Ethan's face is exactly how I felt at that moment.
This story is definitely a cluster fuck but hey I love it anyway
I don't read comics nor have I ever bought one so thank you for letting me experience these :D
Woooo! Max Carnage- thanks guys!
I always thought Maximum Carnage was the one with all the rainbow venoms
It may have been Maximum, but it was never.....Absolute.
Ah, the SNES game :) I can't remember this comic, besides I loved it, as a kid.
36:30 basically foreshadowed Absolute Carnage
Sal " Maximum Carnage Maximum dumb" but for some reason I wanna go get it LMAO
25:28-25:45 Bullshit Cyclops did. It's one of the things he's done that makes me hate him.
+Just Milese Reviews AGREED. People handwave that bullshit and it PISSES ME OFF.
Jean cheated on Scott too, at least Emma truly loved Cyclops.

Just like he was married to Madelyne Pryor but left her and his son once Jean was back. Also when did Jean cheat? She was attracted to Wolverine but I don't recall reading about them having sex.
YES!! Thank you for doing this episode. Carnage is my favorite comic character. Please do Carnage USA and Carnage vs Deadpool sometime.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES YOU FINALLY DID IT!!!!!! jajajajajaja this was my personal equivalent to world war hulk
Firestar is scorching Carnage: *burning*
Spider-Man: Stop!
Deathlok: Do it.
Venom: Do it.
Emperor Palpatine: Do it.
One of the fist graphic novels i remember buying
My question for you guys, what was more insane: Maximum Carnage or All-Star Batman ?
ABSOLUTE CARNAGE is Coming boys....
Hi guys awesome vid keep up the great work
Carnage + shriek + mass murder = sex ?
Climax score
Carnage-Shriek
235. 256
I love what Maximum Carnage could've been, but sadly the video game was way better than the actual story.
love carnage when he is done right 😀
I never owned pt11 and pt12, I'm not interested in reading it either but I'll watch this. Thanks Sal. :)
Sal, how do you get your hair so silky smooth every episode? I've honestly never seen a bowl cut look so god damn luscious.
the beauties of editing
Max Cartwright I would assume natural juices & berries along with a lot of brushing.
I totally remember when Dagger died when I was like 4 or 5 it was such a big deal
I love this show!
It was a stupid story but I really like it. Fight scenes are exiting (especially final fight) and Carnage team is funny (mostly dark humor). The biggest problem is 14 issue, it should be five or four issue.
So the Human Torch isn't home. Can't Spider-Man use a flame thrower? I say Spider-Man with a flame thrower is just as useful as Human Torch.
I've been binge all of the Marvel and indie episodes of back issues for the past week and a bit. (I'm not a dc fan, sorry) these kick ass!
Bens face at 9:50 kills me
I have wanted to see them go through this story for a while now. My next wish is the worst story of the Justice League. I can't wait for Ethan and Ben read that and then CRY FOR JUSTICE!!!
Xecutioners Song. I will continue to haunt you until you do. LOVE the channel, listen all the time. "Barristo!"
I love this comic series. IMO it's really good.
Coming back to this since I only found this channel a few months ago one of you I forget who brought up something that does end up in that recent run of carnage books about him making other symbiotes I think
Superman: Earth One next!!!!!
Yeah maximum carnage is definitely one of the most 90s comics I’ve read
Lay back, get your lotion out, and click 0:26 over and over again.
such a classic comic run. and great game
Are there like any good Spiderman stories like at all? Any trades worth picking up
Carlos Rodriguez JMS's entire run up until the Gwen Stacy twins arch.

Deathlok= care bear stare
Hey Sal, I've watched all of your Spider-Man Back Issues, and I noticed you dislike a pretty large amount of them. What is a Spider-Man story you would recommend? I've read Ultimate Spider-Man and really enjoyed that.
Stay tuned. Also he's been around since 1962, so I think my coverage has been a drop in the bucket comparatively.
Is that a bat symbol at 22:41 on the pumpkin bomb?
Still cant believe Sal achieved the dream of many chubby nerds...scoring the beautiful redhead!!! You guys dont give up on your sweet love you might find what you were looking for
My fav character
Thank you for pronouncing symbiote correctly.
Thank you.
why is wildcats 1 so prominently placed in the background?
did you like carnage USA? i haven't read it in years, but i remember it fondly. imo it's a waaaaaaay better carnage story than maximum carnage
HHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG I have been waiting decades for this video.
The hope gun is pretty much the orgasmo gun
soooo is it possible that the clone saga could ever be in here due to the fact that it is what it is i would just love to here you guys explain and react to it
You should do skaar:son of hulk
