Having made a 100 layer lasagna...twice, I thought I was one of the few people to have ever seen lasagna subduction zones. I would also like to say, "pasta sheet subduction zones" is one of the most magnificent phrases I have ever heard.
@@IrisGlowingBluealso an EXCEPTIONALLY difficult technical achievement beyond a certain point. It requires a consistency in the entire lasagna from start to finish that isn't easy with almost crepe-thin sheets of pasta.
Its insane how every single guest is amazing. I was kinda skeptical ab mythical kitchen as a concept being that it felt a little bit forced with their first videos. This interview series is one of the best on youtube now and deserves all its credit.
I confronted my mortality at 7 yrs old. I was born with a congenital heart condition and 7 was the first time I realized the wheels might fall off sooner than most. It doesn't help that doctors answered my dumb question "how long am I going to live?" The data says 30. I'm 39 and feel great. I'm glad Hank is okay but I absolutely empathize with never wanting to ever confront mortality...
As someone who's struggled with chronic illness and the constant looming of dying, this was amazing. I agree with Hank. It's terrifying, but curiosity is so important. I've spent so many days doing research into the treatments and medications I take and are available to me. All the procedures they suggest I dive deep into statistics and the effects. It gives you a sense of control in a situation where everything seems so unpredictable. You never know what's going to happen or how something is going to effect your life, but gathering information and making decisions for yourself is so important. Thank you Josh and Hank for this lovely episode. It really inspired me and made me feel like I wasn't alone.
I have constant existential anxiety/overthinking, but people like Hank Green help so much. It turns the "nothing matters, I'm just some creature" into thought provoking conversation, reminds you of the wonders of our planet and everything beyond it. For anyone else interested in existentialistic media, I'd recommend the game Cell to Singularity, it was one of the first ways I started coping with those anxieties
Hi I literally just lost a friend this morning and Hank saying that we all have a little bit of each other within us almost made me start crying all over again
I have a huge anxiety about death, having lost friends at a young age. The idea might bring me to a panick attack but somehow Hank and this show has helped me a little. So heavy but so good, thank you ❤ glad you’re still here
It would be hilariously morbid. The Man is in a perpetual state of existential dread. Hank has always been the chill one, he only just started thinking about mortality seriously in more emotional depth when life punched him in the face and I am certain that he's STILL more chill than John.
I’m glad to see Hank back in the Mythical universe and so glad he is in remission. He is such a cool human being full of knowledge and curiosity and just… I just respect the hell out of him. 💜
I’m 20 mins in, and I’m delighted Hank felt the need to count his Lasagna layers!! Its on brand for him & love it! Both the Green brother's curiosity and love for knowledge and learning is so wonderful & entertaining

Hell yeah, candied salmon! I think the best simple thing I’ve done with my kids is to answer questions with “let’s find out” if I don’t know. Great answer, Hank. This man is a gem, so glad he’s healthy (getting healthy?) again.
@@jakerz117 It’s okay if you learned about this work because of John Green, and that is cool because that’s likely what he wanted to do, but he knows about it because it was already a highly influential work of art.
24:26 Great point by Hank here. Knowing a lot and being expected to know a lot creates this external pressure that produces internal resentment for learning. I wonder if it would be possible someday for schools to allow older children (maybe 13-14) to choose topics they want to learn about in each subject, with some guided rules on what they can pick.
Every time I see more content of Hank Green he just gives me so much joy and hope and inspiration. I'm so glad he exists and I'm so glad that he was on this show.
Okay, Josh is one of the finest interviewers I've ever had the pleasure to watch, and I think it's because he's also probably an excellent teacher. The fact that he found common ground with Hank on subduction to explain the noodle discrepancy was inSANE. I hope I can have both of these dudes' enthusiasm someday.
I can't help but watch this and just have the biggest smile. I feel like sometimes while watching these the guest is like such a huge person they've lost touch a little. Not that Josh can't make conversation with anything or anyone. But this episode is so refreshing.
Hank, and I know you'll never read this comment...but I HEAR what you are saying in "if you look too hard it can become a problem", among the many other things you've dropped in this show regarding the darker side of this short life. I KNOW what you're saying, and I'm sorry you're in this effed up club now. I am so, so, so infinitely sorry. Honestly, the Elf spaghetti video helped me in a way I can't describe, and I've been better because of it. Better, not good, but better, and as someone struggling with trying to just get back to thinking about the cosmic wonder of ALL THE WEIRD THINGS without having panic attacks that feel like I won't survive them, I can't put into words how much your speaking publicly about your experience has improved my outlook. You're a wonderful human being, and I hope others who have looked too far and seen too much at too young an age, find these bits of content and hear someone who also knows this DEEP struggle.
Hank literally just gave my hope for my children's future at minute 24:53 . I cannot express how much finding this video today have helped me. Thank you both. 💚
Maybe it's a mistake on my part, but I've never just *listened* to him speak for more than a handful of minutes, he is such an incredibly curious person. I went to school for biology and I never met another person in my major that got so excited over the intricacies of anatomy and phisiology. I've tried to explain how crazy knees are to people before and I got wild looks- it was great to see someone be so excited and passionate about life's little intricacies :) great episode
You seem like you might be neurodivergent. That's ok, you'll find your people. They'll be people who just love people that get passionate about things. Sometimes they're not particularly nerdy themselves but they're nerd enthusiasts so to speak
Aw man I love seeing this man so happy 😂 he literally is what made me so passionate about learning and always staying curious and he’s just so special. He deserves all the happiness and success
Going on the internet et being curious about science and animals and stuff kept me alive in the darkest of depression, so yeah, I do feel like that's a good meaning of life.
I can relate to the intriguing or fun aspect of having a medical horror story going on within you. I go back and forth between getting wrapped up in the doom of my epilepsy and lyme and being grateful that I'm my own experiment subject. I've made so much progress with both, lyme feels like something of my past at this point and it's something that you really get left out in the cold with after you're off antibiotics. Epilepsy is so much more difficult cause the doctors are the experts and you're just supposed to listen to what they say despite their treatments barely working. On top of that the treatments often times completely changing who you are, we need to do so much better in this area. We're clearly missing a key component.
Every episode seems to get better and better. This one is definitely my favorite so far. To see someone who faced the possibility of death recently talk about their experience and still have such joy towards living was such a interesting and uplifting experience.

The fact that josh's one pec twitched at how surprised he was while hank explained to him what a meatball corndog is, priceless😂😂 21:54
How did you catch that,!?!?!?!?
@@PACHEKODEMONIt's easy to catch... if you're staring at his pecs the whole video 😂

Ngl most of us gym guys dont even notice (somehow), or we are hyper aware of our muscles twitching and its horrible. no inbetween LMAO
I had to go back to see that lol
Hank is one of those people who have always made me love the world. He makes me want to understand the world.
Having made a 100 layer lasagna...twice, I thought I was one of the few people to have ever seen lasagna subduction zones. I would also like to say, "pasta sheet subduction zones" is one of the most magnificent phrases I have ever heard.
Quick questions,,, why and how?
@@Chefstep.Charlin Valid, have a good day
@@IrisGlowingBluealso an EXCEPTIONALLY difficult technical achievement beyond a certain point. It requires a consistency in the entire lasagna from start to finish that isn't easy with almost crepe-thin sheets of pasta.
“imagine a horses ass…”
“i am”
this lil interaction had me rolling
Its insane how every single guest is amazing. I was kinda skeptical ab mythical kitchen as a concept being that it felt a little bit forced with their first videos. This interview series is one of the best on youtube now and deserves all its credit.
Well, there was at least that one that was so awful their episode got pulled after a couple hours.
dude i think this series is easily the best thing to come from this channel, it's hard to make compelling food content
what episode???@@dwmlue9299
Huh? Which one was it.@@dwmlue9299

Hank's prospective on everything is so genuine and intelligent. He's definitely on my list of people I'd love to have a beer, (tea) with.
Hank’s outlook on life is really so beautiful, and he and Josh were such a great combination here. This might be the best Last Meal yet.
It's nice to see how genuinely thrilled Hank is by the food.
Hi I literally just lost a friend this morning and Hank saying that we all have a little bit of each other within us almost made me start crying all over again
Us Hank Green enjoyers are eatingggggg lately. It’s crazy seeing how many collabs and media spots one person can fit into a trip to LA haha.
I have a huge anxiety about death, having lost friends at a young age. The idea might bring me to a panick attack but somehow Hank and this show has helped me a little. So heavy but so good, thank you ❤ glad you’re still here
Hank is the perfect kind of guest because everything interests and amazes him in the best way.
PLEASE put John Green on this. It would be a totally different vibe but so so interesting
I love the multiple times Hank gave Josh a really short answer and then it just cuts to them staring at each other in silence for a couple seconds
I’m 20 mins in, and I’m delighted Hank felt the need to count his Lasagna layers!! Its on brand for him & love it! Both the Green brother's curiosity and love for knowledge and learning is so wonderful & entertaining

I've been on a Dear Hank and John tear for the last 3 months, I'm up to 2023 finally. Hank is such a one of a kind curious, enthusiastic, intelligent and warm person. This is such a lovely treat.
This is one of the best ones. I love Hank's energy, I love these moments where Josh gets to show off this deep personable side.
I can already tell this episode is going to be awesome. I love Hank
Josh teaching Hank about cooking by relating it to tectonic plates is amazing
I didn't know who hank green was, but this is one of my favourite last meals ever.
Just proves to me how incredible this inverview format is.
Really check him out. He's been on the internet longer than Rhett and Link. He's an amazingly accomplished man. Plus, just a really good dude.
The concept of people not knowing the Greens 🤯
I just started watching this series, and I always tear up whenever Josh asks, “are you happy?” 🥺 Incredible listening to what some people have gone through but are absolutely content in life 🫶🏼
Hell yeah, candied salmon!
I think the best simple thing I’ve done with my kids is to answer questions with “let’s find out” if I don’t know. Great answer, Hank. This man is a gem, so glad he’s healthy (getting healthy?) again.
I've never heard of Hank Green. I am apparently a fan of Hank Green. Great guest!!
Oh man, you are going to have so much fun. Seriously I'm so happy for you!
His last words are actually pretty great. I want to live the kind of life where my last thought was "Well that was fun".
20:02 is peak Hang Green energy. Really this whole video is peak Hang Green energy, but the intense analysis of the lasagna is just incredible
Josh and Hank need a mini series together. These two just vibe.
Hank has such a childlike joy for food I think more people would benefit from having
Josh citing "this is not a pipe" to hank like his brother John didn't make it popular 😂😂
I think Rene Magritte himself made it popular haha
@@winterkeptuswarm I don't think the Belgian artist who died in the 60s had a larger reach than a 2012 New York best seller
@@jakerz117 dude literally was a "founder" of dadaism and that piece is one of the most well known contemporary works lol
I was looking for this comment 😂
The boxing ring analogy is a great metaphor for burnout or compassion fatigue in my industry- social work - and others. It’s a great reminder.
I want to see a series where Josh and Hank do food science! Or maybe just a Phone-a-Hank segment when Josh starts talking food science in a video.
Yes Hank can help with the experimental design process of Mythmunchers.
As someone going into week five of chemo myself, I really needed this. Thank you.
The breakdown of the lasagna was my favorite part
Between this and Tom hanks I genuinely believe these are the most beautiful episodes that everyone should see
Hank literally just gave my hope for my children's future at minute 24:53 .
I've tried to explain how crazy knees are to people before and I got wild looks- it was great to see someone be so excited and passionate about life's little intricacies :) great episode
ankles are ridiculous too, like the human body is just a mess lowkey
You seem like you might be neurodivergent. That's ok, you'll find your people. They'll be people who just love people that get passionate about things. Sometimes they're not particularly nerdy themselves but they're nerd enthusiasts so to speak
Aw man I love seeing this man so happy 😂 he literally is what made me so passionate about learning and always staying curious and he’s just so special. He deserves all the happiness and success
Going on the internet et being curious about science and animals and stuff kept me alive in the darkest of depression, so yeah, I do feel like that's a good meaning of life.
"Is butt legs" caught me so off guard and I don't know how to explain to my girlfriend why I've been laughing for 5 straight minutes, someone help
25:17 this is the most insightful advice i could’ve received today and i genuinely appreciate hank so much for his way of explaining it this way
Living through year two after losing my husband of 40 years, and you are so right, I MISS him!
"I love liquids. Sauces are like drinks you put on food." Alrighty, then; never change, Hank 😂
Yeah, he's the right kind of person to be like happy to be alive, if that makes sense
Hanks hair is coming in curly! Love the slight fro!... and omg... chi is where I first had boba, too... glad you're still here, dftba, man bc you are
so weird but one of my students' moms told me after chemo her hair came back super curly! must be a thing
