1:28:20 I'm so glad hank green and slime are sharing my story. i have had the vomit inducing constipation before, I'm a recovering opioid addict, and something fun that they don't tell you about heroin is that it really slows down your GI tract, you tend to get really backed up, and then it hardens as a big brick as your lower intestine absorbs more and more water, it forms a blockage, and then you slowly stop getting hungry as you fill up over the course of a few weeks, and if you come off during this time, everything slowly starts moving again, but the front moves faster than the back, and you start getting nauseous. basically it is the same sensation that you feel when you just ate way too much food, but it's constant, 24/7, until the blockage is removed and things start moving again. imagine basically slowly starving to death while feeling fuller than you've ever felt, so full that it's making you nauseous. the only relief comes when you do some exercise that moves your abdomen, the mechanical stimulation forces the contents of your small intestine back up into your stomach, and you vomit this putrid slurry of watery shit-vomit. it honestly tastes way worse than vomit, and I'm assuming just by the odor that it probably also tastes worse than shit, because it is actively off-gassing sulfur from these undigested sugars and fiber actively being eaten by your microbiome. it's kinda like if you put shit and vomit into a food processor and then left it in a tupperware in the sun for a few days. anyway, relief finally comes when you evacuate enough of that matter from your small intestine and either pass (not severe) or actively break up (for very severe) the blockages in your lower intestine. fortunately, opiate withdrawals cause fairly severe diarrhea, so your body is like actively trying to help you solve this problem the moment you stop taking the drugs. in my case, i managed to pass it after repeated flushing with irritant enemas (which kinda make your loins feel like they're on fire, like you put a chili pepper up there), eventually i just got one of those half gallon enema bags, did a stimulant enema and chased it with a half gallon of water to really force it up there, that managed to do the trick and rehydrate it enough that i was able to pass it without dying or going to the hospital. honestly, it's kind of a miracle that I'm alive, i do NOT deserve to be here, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to be alive today, sober for six years!

I love how Hank can dish it, while still being kind and personable. He’s a wonderful role model. This is my first video here, and I’ve known hank since I was in high schools in the 2.0 days. Look forward to more!
"I do a lot of slides" may be the perfect opening line for the crossover I never in a million years would have thought. Now I just gotta wait til they ask if he is cut or uncut.
I love that Hank, while fully understanding the general vibe of this show, was not ready for actual interesting and insightful conversations/ questions.
Ok so my school was super religious, and this story is like a poem or whatever about a guy who walks on the shore and theres footsteps or whatever and this guy talks to god and asks him why theres only one set of footprints, "didnt you say you'd always be my bae and walk with me?" and god says that he carried him in valorant all along or whatever. I think.
And tbh, Slime's reaction was nice, too. Just "oh, I didn't know", and immediately started using female pronouns. That is exactly how that exchange should always go. No recrimination or defensiveness or arguing. Just acknowledge the new information and move on.
i keep coming back to this episode. Hank was such a good guest. I like how the boys played off Hank and vice versa. This episode is definitely one of the best

Watching the vlogbrothers while in highschool is what got me hooked on youtube. Like 15 years later still here and loving what creators are able to produce.
On the topic of comedians and crowd work, another reason that some comedians post a ton of crowd work isn't because their regular material isn't good, but it's that they don't want to post all their jokes and then have to constantly come up with new material so people don't get pissed that they've already seen the jokes on youtube or whatever other platform. For example, Randy Feltface has a TON of crowd work clips, way more than his written jokes, but it's to get his name out there, but not give away all of his stuff.
Same with Gianmarco Soresi, whose crowd work is incredible, but it's the only stuff you can really find online because the rest he decidedly doesn't share.
I’m only halfway through and this is already by far my favourite episode. Worlds colliding. Massive thank you to hank for coming on and the boys for being hilarious as always
So, I have no ideas who any of these guys are except for Hank, but can anyone confirm, the gentlemen in the green hat is giving major John Green vibes, having an existential crisis over atoms 😂😂😂
I love them finding out just what. all. Hank. has. done! I've been following the VlogBrothers for longer than I care to remember, so at times I forget that Hank has done ALL THE THINGS! So seeing these guys discuss it in a short span of time, and it's such an impressive list, it makes me remember to appreciate the incredible being that is Hank Green.
This is one of the best guest episodes to date. Guy comes on barely knowing anyone and is completely keeping tempo and cracking jokes. Dude slid in like butter with a bunch of niche gamers saying yeah I played mincraft with my son. Legend.
this episode is amazing for many reasons everyone has pointed out already but i just wanted to say this factor ad is an all-time aiden performance. absolutely magical. "protein plus maple bars" killed me
Part of the 17 here, and I gotta say, I would never in a million years beg Hank Green to be on your podcast. His time is worth more than that. For real though this is dope
“I don’t watch basketball but I will watch Steph hit threes” is somehow so poetic and is how I feel anytime a scientist talks - I’m like wow this guy really did it they really understand magic
Yes, I laughed at so many bits with Hank Green. But I also appreciated Aiden's standout Factor ad read. He carried that ad read despite having everyone against him.
My science thing I explain to people to break their brain and introduce them to science is: Why puddles dry. I had this question for many many years and when I was taking thermodynamics I finally learnt the answer and it fascinates me. Here was my question: Water becomes steam at 100°C (at 1 atm), so why do puddles dry if they're not at 100°C. I always wondered, do the sun hit them long enough that they do get to 100°C? but I knew that couldn't be the case because even in cold environments they would eventually dry. The reason still fascinates me to this day: The universe is constantly trying to achieve equilibrium (but it never will, as entropy can only increase) therefore all systems are always trying to achieve thermodynamic equilibrium. For a system to be in thermodynamic equilibrium, it needs to be in thermal equilibrium (same temperature), mechanical equilibrium, chemical equilibrium (no reaction happening) and *phase* equilibrium, meaning everything is in the same phase (solid, liquid and gas). The desire for thermal equilibrium, for example, is what causes heat transfer to happen, there are two things at different temperatures, and whether you want it or not, this will cause an energy exchange up to the point where they reach an infinitesimally similar temperature (or basically almost the same temperature). As for the puddle: It dries because of phase equilibrium. If you saw the puddle as a bunch of layers of water touching eachother (like laying a lot of blankets on top of one another), the layer at the top is touching the air. There is a difference of phase there, as the air has a percentage of water in gas form in it. Therefore in that interface (the contact between liquid water and gas water), an energy exchange due to phase difference starts to happen, up to the point where that top layer becomes gas, then the layer below it is now touching water in gas form, therefore an energy exchange happens again, and so on and so forth until the puddle is dry. That is why puddles dry even though they're not hot! I find it fascinating. Something similar happens when you have a half empty bottle of water and suddenly there is mist on the inside of it.
I get what they mean about how not understanding an atom is scary. Applied sciences has outpaced scientific research so far that it’s a bit of a shock to realize that despite how modernized and advanced our society is, we generally don’t understand most of the fundamental physics that empower us to make the technology we have. Electricity is a big one for me. It blows my mind that despite having very little understanding of how exactly electricity works at an atomic level, nearly everything we own is powered by electricity.
Halfway through and I already know this is a must rewatch. Hank Green is a great guest but the boys are also quite good at this, them and their little science questions. This was great
Hank Green is such a phenomenal educator/performer and honestly an improv artist since he seems to match the energy of any room he’s in, contextualize then explain any content asked. And if he doesn’t know, he’s humble and wants to learn. Such a model human being.

Hoping for a Jerma episode though
What if we had a Jerma AND Hank pod
@@oreganoed8913 that would be a generation defining moment
I think we can all agree Jerma would be in fetal position from the bullying about 5 minutes in
“and the part where there was only one pair of footsteps in the sand, that’s where I was carrying you” had me rolling
I didn't get that one, could you explain?
@@rerorero6493I think it’s something to do with Jesus Christ
Ok so my school was super religious, and this story is like a poem or whatever about a guy who walks on the shore and theres footsteps or whatever and this guy talks to god and asks him why theres only one set of footprints, "didnt you say you'd always be my bae and walk with me?" and god says that he carried him in valorant all along or whatever. I think.
@@Unorthodoxica Yeah exactly, in the episode they were mixing up tons of sayings and this is a really common Christian story
"I thought your Wikipedia page would be longer" is such a violation. hahaha
Hank just casually correcting Slime on Eddie Izzard's pronouns was so nice to see
And tbh, Slime's reaction was nice, too. Just "oh, I didn't know", and immediately started using female pronouns. That is exactly how that exchange should always go. No recrimination or defensiveness or arguing. Just acknowledge the new information and move on.
The whole interaction was so refreshing.
what a wild blend of crass and actual intellectual conversation
Its crazy how well Hank Green gels with the Yard. He even starts talking like them when he explains having a kid 14:18. Great ep!
This is an amazing cross over i didn't expect
slime and hank's interactions were surprisingly wholesome and less of slime prodding him than i expected. i love this pod so much lmao
Genuinely made me laugh and smile the entire episode, 11/10 guest and person
i keep coming back to this episode. Hank was such a good guest. I like how the boys played off Hank and vice versa. This episode is definitely one of the best
The Yard and Hank Green collab is a match made in heaven! It's so cool to see these two worlds come together in such an unexpected way :)
checkmark bots are back
Pretty sure that Hank is just great at matching people's energy. He was on Safety Third podcast. He matched up with them great.
I didn't know this podcast and i'm just on a hank green binge but everyone seems very lovely and silly
Hank roasting the boys and holding his own is the greatest. Great episode
I always forget what Hanks true personality is bc I mostly watched him as a kid through his educational content. I need to watch his other stuff more often though bc omg he was so funny
@@emo6577yeah, and he’s really malleable socially. On the podcast he adapted his behaviors and jokes to match the Yard members, pretty noticeably. Definitely go check out the other channel he’s on, though. You’ll learn a lot and maybe get the opportunity to contribute to real world change. It’s awesome
Watching the vlogbrothers while in highschool is what got me hooked on youtube. Like 15 years later still here and loving what creators are able to produce.
Hank's chemistry with he yard boys is actually crazy
What a heater of a show. Hank and Slime were popping off of each other
imma watch this again in like a week
My mom got cancer this year so we bought her the cancer socks for Christmas and she was very amused. Thank you Hank Green cool sock science man.
didn't expect this collab!
Hank being half-circumcised and being in-between the cut half and uncut half is funny to me.
I've been waiting to find out if Hank Green is uncut or cut since Nick talked about the episode
im literally wearing hanks cancer socks right now. I love that he came on this silly silly podcast
Hank fit in so shockingly well
“There’s ways!?”
“You know… you’ve looked it up…”
😂
what a disgustingly unexpected crossover i love it
I love them finding out just what. all. Hank. has. done! I've been following the VlogBrothers for longer than I care to remember, so at times I forget that Hank has done ALL THE THINGS! So seeing these guys discuss it in a short span of time, and it's such an impressive list, it makes me remember to appreciate the incredible being that is Hank Green.
Why is Hank Green is best? His comedic timing is just perfect and so unique and fits right in
This is one of the best guest episodes to date.
"protein plus maple bars" killed me
you made me go back and watch the ad thank you
This was a deadly episode and I'd love to see Hank on here again. Surprised how quick he was to roll with the bits.
This is by far one of your best episodes to date. Listening, alone, doesn't do it justice. You have to watch.
Crazy that of all guests they ever had on the podcast Hank Green is closest to being the same as Slime.
This is literally my two favorite worlds coming together
I'll remember this comment for eternity
I appreciate you.
I love how even the Yard wasn't expecting the scale of how special their Guest is because of how just much of a cool person Hank Green is.
This is a crossover that I never expected and didn't expect to work but damn Hank really meshes so well with the boys
Halfway through and I already know this is a must rewatch.
Hank Green is a great guest but the boys are also quite good at this, them and their little science questions. This was great
rhett and link on the yard would be prime
I audibly laughed so hard when Hank said, "I have to turn off my phone.... it's Clint." and everyone in unison says, "Stevens???"
Hank Green is such a phenomenal educator/performer and honestly an improv artist since he seems to match the energy of any room he’s in, contextualize then explain any content asked. And if he doesn’t know, he’s humble and wants to learn. Such a model human being.
Holy HALF CUT?!?!? HE IS THE SCIENCE MAN AND HE UNITES US ALL!!!
LETS GO I’ve been a vlogbrothers stan since 2010 and didn’t know Hank was into Chris Fleming. Big win
