    This is helpful. I shoot a lot of individual athlete photos for sports teams, and to change just the name & subject cut out in 30+ files is just great. Then I can review the PSD files & open only those whose type placement (due to length) to adjust. Top notch always, Julieanne.

      In a separate video demonstration, they used full paths for the image files in the data. In that case I would think you could pull images from anywhere on your system, even different folders between each record.

  • @Affinity4IEWeb
    @Affinity4IEWeb 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    If anyone is getting an error "Could not parse the file contents as a data set. There were too many variable names in the first line of the text file." make sure you don't have columns which aren't being used as variables in your psd.
    For example:
    I saved my csv with 10 columns but only set up one layer with a variable and went to attach the csv as a data set.
    BANG! Got that error. So I had to remove all but the one column I wanted to test and it ran fine.
    Just incase someone else runs into this :)

    Hi, thank you for the excellent video. I have a .psd of a floor plan, and it contains 100 rooms (all in 1 layer, it's an imported pdf). I also have an tab delimited file of 100 office room numbers, and their 100 occupant names. From your video, is sounds like I could create 100 text variables for names, and 100 room number variables for office numbers, and place them on the single drawing inside each room. Assuming that this is possible, I have 2 questions: First, is this the right product/use of photoshop to do this? About 10% of my office occupants change over the course of a year, is there a better adobe product to achieve this goal. Second, is there a limitation to the number of offices (variables/layers) I can have in a single document? Is there a ceiling to this? This example is is using 200 variables. Does this mean I have 200 delimiters and 1 row in my text file, that just seem like its not the best way to achieve my goal? Thank you for any guidance. Michael

    • @bradduncan3326
      @bradduncan3326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe this data merge technique is suited for your project. I would say it would be easier to just create 100 layers in your PSD, one for each office number and have the occupant's name inside that layer as editable text. You would just edit the occupants text directly in the office layer they are in.

    Very nice hidden feature. But is quite obvious that it hasn't gotten any attention over all these years. Things like not being able to export in other formats (jpg directly) or use values from the dataset in the name export are obvious features. Nice feature nonetheless! and great tutorial ^^

      Seperate wrapped cell into seperate cells, then make those stacked fields on the template. So "Line_1" and "Line_" are stacked in image, not wrapped in text. It won't import the 2 lines from 1 cell separately
