People went into these convoluted combinations of Photoshop automations and the need for custom PS scripting. Then I bumped into your tutorial and this was precisely what I needed. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. One note of caution is that I discovered that the csv file can not contain any blank cells. Fill them with spaces.

One thing I would like to point out learning from experience: When naming your data set variable and excel sheet column, make sure to not use any SPACE or invisible characters. It'll show up as an error on Photoshop. Alternatively, just use an underscore (_).

Dude, I saw some advice elsewhere on the web that mail merge/data merge wasn't possible in Photoshop. So I bashed my head against a wall going between Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, OpenOffice.Org, trying to superimpose one PDF on another... and then I found this. Thank you. (Btw I'm creating drop cards for album downloads, with unique codes from Bandcamp.)

I usually use mail merge with a .csv file for this in word but is no longer supported... how do I get the name and address fields to merge over to the template in photoshop Thx Kat
It's great! I'm surprised and happy : ) BUT: can I get results not in the form of several files but in the form of several layer groups in the same file? If I could it would be easier to edit results when some fields are too large and I have to change the font size. I hope you understand my funny English : ) Thank you again!
after the variables or before is imported,is there a way to set it up to automatically center text, in my case names,to the center or the page. also to auto adjust the size of the text to fit if the name is too long?? I hate to have to open all to find the ones I need to adjust, hoping for a short cut :-) TIA
I haven't done this in forever... but I think if you center the text before you merge it it will center the text. For text that is too big, I haven't found a good solution, so I what I do is count how many characters will fit, then I make 2 spreadsheets and 2 designs one with the maximum # of characters and the second with the words that are to big the font is decreased in the design. There may be a better way of doing it, but that is how I would deal with words too long.

I have a current problem getting may data to merge. An error message popped up " Could not parse the file contents as a data set. Data set 1 was incomplete." I made sure everything is lower-case sensitive, but I do not know what the issue is. I am also trying merge the data onto multiple images for event badges, will merging the data be a problem with that?

But if you need are doing something similar to what the video shows it may not be merging because you list has spaces, meaning you are missing some info and the program needs a complete list in or to merge info. Does that make sense?

looks like a difficult, but if we know the real issues, might help. The database just write on the notepad ++
