+Bozocow It is such a good read. I managed to get a copy off of Ebay at one point. I've kept it with me ever since. That also goes for the Deserts of Kharak Expedition guide as well. It has most of what was in the Homeworld manual plus more info pertaining to the lead up to the expedition. They're both great reads.
Homeworld does that a lot, one of the few games that gets right how information is interpreted throughout the centuries. Something as simple as a hyperspace treaty eventually evolved into dogma and religion. Another example is the Kadeshi, who started out as simple pirates hiding in the nebula, but soon their entire culture revolved around this, and in time a religion formed that held the nebula as a sort of holy sanctuary.
that was the cool thing about homeworld. its like an ancient mythology about a journey for home and without the anti religious agitprops in 99% of other media. it feels comfy and close to the spirit of humanity
grom neer no the fuck it doesnt. The spirit to which your alluding to would be go full on barbaric mad Max in that nebula probably degenerating to cannabilism. God hearing athiests barf up their technocratic renditions of religion as a devolutionary effect and ascribing that as human spirit like their even fucking humans is laughable at best.
So did any of them survive the end of Kharak? I'm mean where there any Gaalsien's in cryo-freeze aboard the mothership or did no one of their kith volunteered to be frozen, choosing to stick to their believes? And if some decided to join the expedition how would their beliefs had change when they got to Hiigara?
Yes, they had sneakily infiltrated the Mothership shortly before it's launch in a petty last ditch desperate attempt to sabotage it from within durring testing in the hopes that “the wrath of Sajuk” would be avoided that way, but unfortunately Kharak got nuked before they could do anything and they ware left with no choice but to carry on with the journey to Hiigara.
good overview but would have loved to have more details, by the way one thing has bothered me thu, the kiith soban was first formed during a war, don´t know if it was the heresy wars but that means the kiith was formed centuries or maybe a millenia after the kushan ended up on kharak and yet khartoba has their sigil etched on its hull that could be seen at the ending cutscene before the credits rolls.
That's true. The Soban were formed prior to the Heresy Wars. It's not impossible that the Sobani sigil could show up on the ship. The Soban were formed when a group of families left their old Kiith. The story says that theur old Kiith was destroyed and the families tore off their family colors (in exchange for the Sobani red). It does not say that they tore off their sigil. The Soban sigil could be the mark of the Kiith they used to be. That's where I understand that sigil as coming from.
My friend, just found your channel, loved your vid! We should get you and other enthusiasts of Homeworld and do a Heresy War fan audio story on youtube. THAT would be amazing, where we start off with kiith under the iron will of either the Gaalsien or Sidim, such as a Soban for the Sidim and how oppressed they are, then an individual S'Jet whom are in Gaalsien territory but isn't nowhere near as bad as the Soban, having an occupation or advisory role with the Kiith Sa Gaalsien or one of the higher ranking men or women who require assistance in some matter, then panning over to our favorite kiith in Sajuuk-Ka, where theyre politically at each others throats whether to intervene or not. Also, am pretty drunk rigbt now so, may sound good to me, may not sound good to you haha.
It's an interesting idea. The thing is, there's not all that much information on the Heresy War. I think this video covered the majority of the information on that time, and that's saying something.
Exactly why we should do it honour, make reasonable, well thought background material, no different then the rest of the Homeworld series and build up the setting and plot from there. We just have to make sure that only the Nabal have the more modern technologies, whereas it seems that the rest of Kharak's kiiths are in more of a medieval or enlightenment stage of development. We should also go into more detail about their spiritual practices, other then the Gaalsien being fanatics, and there is a commandment to not reach for the stars, we have little info on Sajuuk, concepts of Sajuukian (?) afterlife, and smaller stuff like days of celebration, what not to eat and when, charity concepts, those little things that make religions not only bound to its storied-mythology, but in how it influences the behavior of the individual, the family, the clan and then the nation. Maybe a lot of kiiths are bound to the Gaalsien due to their kiith sa being more or less the equivalent of the pope, a high religious figure and are afraid to fight against them not only due to gaalsien supremacy, but their center in the cultural-religious aspects and being condemned from a favored afterlife or desire of some kind that is seemingly bound to this one individual. Also, maybe going more in-depth on the kushan as a species? They look human, they act human, but they may not fully be human? I like a theory that the progens were actual humans from earth, and the various races of the homeworld series are individual populations left behind after a sudden evacuation that drifted apart genetically over many, many generations.
@Ornithocheirus How were they right these Assholes got it wrong at just about every point......religious regressionism it hinders and stagnates progress......they were a fear based ideology had they got on board how many lives from civil war could been saved. fear reactionary beliefs lead to repression and regression.
Gaalsien: Where are our honour guard cruisers!?
They keeps disappearing!
Rachel: heh heh heh >:D
That's what you get for having a bunch of cruisers roaming around alone.
Reading the HW1 manual is truly essential if you want to know more about HW1 lore. It's an awesome book.

You can get it online now, if you want.
To this day, Paktu is still my favorite, even though they are never showcased in the games...
Irony, they were right in a way.
Yeah. I bet they didn't think that the Kushan would would wreck as much as they did though.

I got confused by that last part you said, I'm asking for clarification.

Is there their clan logo in homeworld skirmish? If yes then some of them survived
I doubt anyone would allow them to join, at least not officially
Really liked this overview. Appropriate use of pictures and music. Well done.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
That was awesome Vinrafel.
+Andrew Cowan
Thanks mate, it was pretty fun to put together too XD
...until the coalition needed once more to feel sajuks wrath!
Well done video. Good narration. Are you guys excited for Homeworld 3 or skeptical?
BBI hasn't let us down yet. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Still waiting for it, lol.

Vinrafel well apperantelly the sigil symbolises an skaal fa. a predator native of kharak, so that also rung an bell when i saw the sigil on the ship.
Cant find their art for the Gaalsien anywhere RIP

great stufff
Thanks, mate.
You forgot the kiith siidim. They were religious too.
this was a very nice video, shame that it looks like this is the only lore video you've done. Thanks for uploading it.
FANTASTIC
I mean, they're not wrong.
religion does it again
