i am a filipino and would suggest thailand and vietnam,,,because they are better ininfrastructure, medical, foods,,and because i dont like expats coming in this 3rd world country then critizising infrastructure, foods, hot weather, goverment system, electric bills, price while they was not even forced to come here...just go directly to thailand or vietnam..no hassle no problem there its perfect as some commenter keep on saying and keep comparing..thats bad haha

Thailand has made remarkable progress in infrastructure development. The country now boasts an extensive network of modern facilities, including advanced public transportation systems like the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway in Bangkok, as well as ongoing projects for high-speed rail networks that aim to connect major cities. In healthcare, Thailand is known for its high-quality medical services and is a popular destination for medical tourism. The country has also made significant strides in technology and innovation, with several Thai companies and institutions gaining global recognition. These advancements reflect Thailand's dynamic growth and development, far surpassing the image of a 'third world' country.

Don't even think about the Philippines. Scammers, thieves, and various other criminals are the order of the day. There are showcases on Manila streets displaying photos of wanted criminals. Never, ever leave your drink even for a minute...you'll wake up next morning in your room with all your cash gone, and can't even remember how you even got back. Many expats have left because of the crime situation.
Thailand is a good place to be. The prices are reasonable, the culture is wonderful and the country is fairly safe. Be careful when you go to Pattaya or Phuket....The scammers there are everywhere.
Vietnam has everything for an Expat, except a retirement or long term visa, so you'll be doing visa runs every 3 month. The people are super friendly. The country is safe, and medical care is reasonable. It's also the least expensive of the three countries.
Here is my advise to Expats, no matter where you end up, stay AWAY from mass tourism, adjust to the country's culture. YOU are a guest in the country, so don't wave your home country's flag in front of the locals. Just fit in. The rewards coming back to you will amaze you!
Cheers from 20 wonderful years in.......Vietnam!

The massive game changer to expenses is the newly enforced Thailand incoming remittance tax. If you stay in Thailand more than 6 months in total in a calendar year you become a tax resident. It makes Thailand much less affordable compared to other countries. Depending on your Dual Taxation Agreement with your country and the source of your funds remitted, will determine if you are taxed and how much you are taxed. For example, my Australian private pension is untaxed in Australia. So, Thailand can therefore tax all my pension money coming into the kingdom. I am looking at 20% tax on my spending money. It also means expenses in accountant fees in both countries, tax advisor fees, document certification fees to prove remittance sources and other costs. Extra stress. And no advantage for the expat (no benefits as atax resident in Thailand).
Whereas Philippines won't tax you on incoming funds. Neither will Vietnam, but Vietnam has no retirement visa - but there are some visa options. Thailand is no longer affordable for many expats. It's the deal breaker for many with this sudden change.

I've heard of these changes. Where are you thinking about going next?

    • @tyvid
      @tyvid 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@thestoryofkt I am playing 'wait and see' for this year in Thailand, exhausting pre-2024 funds (deemed tax free as per announcement) and being very frugal with spending here. If there is no backflip on policy for next year (they have reiterated it is going ahead but This is Thailand aka 'TIT'), then doing a reconnaissance of Phillipines as an option, otherwise Vietnam, however Vietnam visas do not include for retirement so trickier to setup.

I was looking at the Visa process for Vietnam for Americanns. Do you need USD to pay on arrival? I'm living in the Philippines not so easy to get the USD so what is the workaround for that problem? It works if you're coming from the US but if you're coming from another Asian country not an easy requirement.

Remind you also that not all foreign tourist are care and interested in culture of every country other foreign tourist want the real adventure & see the uniqueness & wonders of other countries and they can see it in the Phillippines...you can see and read the culture of every country through online ok? But if you saw in person the wonder of nature of the Philippines you will amaze and cherish it in your lifetime.. because you can only see that in the Philippines and its pure wonder of nature and not man - made.

Check out another vibrant nation in the Southeast Asia neighborhood. Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city, ranks with the best and other destinations such as George Town, Penang, and Langkawi, offering pleasant surprises.

*I don't understand WHY are people passing on Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand to be in the Philippines???
*Even with bigger deposit amount requirements and tougher immigration standards, it's better and safer in those countries than the Philippines!
*Just fly to live in another country rotationally every 5 1/2 months to avoid the scam tax collection and make it fun for yourself.
*With all the bullshit and nonsense in the name of culture in the Philippines,
    I just don't get it!
    THERE'RE BETTER OPTIONS!!!
