There’s always new products & techniques on the market but because every person is different we have to experiment a lot, watch tutorials & not just blindly follow the fashion but use what suits us.
I don’t think I will ever stop wearing makeup as it makes me feel so good! I only wear it for myself, my daughters (as a good example to always look & feel your best) & my girlfriends when we meet up because we’re all girly-girls who love to look good for each other! I never wear makeup for the male species as they don’t understand nor appreciate the effort that goes into looking “naturally” gorgeous 😂😂😂
I am subscribing to your channel as you did a beautiful job on Kay. Even though she was already lovely, your makeup enhanced her great features & that’s what it’s all about.
We don’t want the makeup to take over & wear us so that’s all anyone can see, we want it to sit quietly in the background making our faces look their best which takes a lot more time & effort to get it right but it’s so worth it.

It's always so interesting to see how many different ways people apply makeup with the end result being the same; a beautiful look. I have extremely hooded eyes, as well, and the only suggestion I would make, that might make it easier when applying shadow to hooded eyes on mature skin is to "pat" the shadows on to the eye, then use a fluffy brush to blend. Also, if I am applying makeup on a woman with hooded, mature eyes, I always hold their eye at the outside corner. Not pulling on the eye, but holding it taught, so that as I am patting the shadows on to the eye, which also helps, the brush doesn't skip over the skin. After I've patted the color where I want it, usually with a flat, fluffy shader brush, then I take a soft blending brush to blend the color(s). Again, it's fun to see how different women work around the same issues - there's no right, or wrong; I was simply sharing how I work around the issue, as I have to deal with it, daily! LOL! As for shimmers and glitters...saying that mature women can't or shouldn't wear them...with all respect, I disagree. I think that the more women age, the more we need a little shine & sparkle. If applied correctly, shimmers/metallics/glitter can transform a look beautifully. This is why so many of the luxury brands (Channel, Tom Ford, Dior, etc.) design their palettes with a high shimmer content. Luxury products have, in the past, been targeted at women our age, and they can give an eye a stunning look. Depending on what I am creating a look for, I will even take shimmer up into the crease, defining with a darker matte, or another shimmer, depending. In my belief, the key is placement; any shadow with shimmer will emphasize. So, if you place it in an area that you want to bring forward, it really can be beautiful. But, that's the fun thing about makeup - it's a personal thing. I just don't want mature women thinking that they can't, or shouldn't, do anything. I'm trying to break this belief because, so long as you feel beautiful, that is what matters. Again, it was a joy to see how you applied makeup! Beautiful work! One last thing...when it comes to powders, I have found a beautiful, absolutely beautiful, powder that does not dry out the under eye area, but works perfectly at smoothing - By Terry Hyaluronic Powder. It's the best powder I've found yet for mature skin! It's a bit costly, but it's so beautiful! I think I use it, as well as some of my other favorite products for mature skin, in an upcoming video, and I've used it in several videos, already! It's amazing! It's funny because I was recently criticized for saying a little shimmer/pearl shadow on the lid looks great on mature skin. So glad you agree with me!! I too think a little shimmer and sparkle applied in the right places can look stunning on mature skin beauties😊
Shelbie, that's what I do, too. I pat it on, and then use a clean fluffy brush to blend. It's really the best way for those of us who have loose skin on the eyelids. Still, Sharalees did a beautiful job on her friend.

I am 64 and I saw up with people in my early teens! Kay, you look so natural, everything looks awesome!
She has beautifully smooth skin and the makeup served to enhance that! I love the colors you used on her! I have issues with moisturizing lipsticks bleeding into the creases around my mouth. I have found the Palladio lip liners to be very effective in preventing the bleeding. I also use Runway Rogue liquid lipsticks. They seem to work best for me. They stay on and do not feather.

I'm not sure if you've seen that one but I'll link it below....perhaps that will give you some new tips to try. Also, you might just want to start applying eyeshadow at your lash line....go in first with your deepest shade there, don't take it into the outer "v"; then blend up toward the crease with a lighter shade.

I really liked the end results. I too am a pickle ball player here in Texas. I thought her make up looked very light, not cakey. I noticed you blended the eyeshades after each layer. You used a combination of different brands, do you feel this causes any kind of skin reaction? I only ask because I was taught to use one brand of skin care and not mix brands together.
Yay!! So glad you liked the look and that you share a love of Pickle Ball too!🤗 I actually rarely have any reactions from mixing various brands of makeup on the face. However, I do think there are times when certain face products work better with other products from that same brand. That makes sense as I assume brands test primers, foundations, powders, etc with other products from their own brand so they should work well in harmony with each other.

Could you tell me if the Bare Minerals foundation you used here would be suitable for my skin. I am 54, have acne scarred skin with large pores. I have always struggled to fine a good foundation.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this video!!😊 I do hope that perhaps my techniques will help you in your eyeshadow application....hooded eyes can be tricky for sure! The BareMinerals Complexion Rescue I used in this video is pretty lightweight so you’ll probably need some concealer too.....it does sit nicely on the skin though and doesn’t emphasize texture. I’m currently testing out the new BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Stick Foundation and even though it doesn’t provide much more coverage it does look beautiful on the skin and helps reduce the look of pores. If you want a foundation that is fuller coverage, I love the BarePro Liquid foundation or the Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation. Hope that helps!💕

Great tutorial as always! I've never tried the green concealer I just use normal concealer but I'm making my shopping list and go to Boots and spend spend spend at the cosmetic counter!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻love spending money! Just to make you laugh...I bought a foundation brush way last year and hadn't watched any makeup tutorials....I squirted. Foundation onto the brush then attempted to apply😱😱😱😂😂😂thought to myself this is aweful...I now know how to use it. Like another lady I thought Kay looks like Doris Day. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍💕❤️🇬🇧

oh WOW....That was a great makeover!!!! and I ordered some of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue while I watched this !!!! It only showed 2 shades so I hope I was right by ordering 'Wheat'.....

I’m dealing with very oily skin which as a mature woman creates challenges. I never need or use lotions or moisturizer on my face. Primer on eyelids help eye shadow to not crease and corn silk powder helps especially under the eye to minimize eyelash color rubbing off due to my high cheeks when smiling the lashes touch the skin slightly & my skin oil takes off the makeup just enough to cause a little darkness (& I don’t have dark circles or bags under my eyes without makeup on!). Any suggestions for super oily skin? It’s like my very own Opec nation because my entire face can glisten literally.
I know people often say they “know how you feel” when they really don’t but I TRULY know how you feel!! I spent a good 15+ years dealing with super oily skin.....loved your OPEC nation reference by the way!😘 Ok, so I’m going to recommend a couple of things and I know you will think I’ve lost my mind but you might just be shocked like I was if they work. First, I’d recommend doing pore refining masks at least 2x per week. Second, use a mild cleanser (love the Sibu Cleansing bar) and toner...something like Witch Hazel. Thirdly, (this is where you are going to think I’m really crazy) use an oil-based moisturizer (jojoba, rosehip and grapeseed oils are great) at night and, if you’re brave enough, in the daytime too. If that scares you, do the oil at night and at least apply a light moisturizer during the day. As CRAZY as that sounds, I could not believe what happened when I started doing this! Because I was “starving” my skin of hydration and always using products to help “dry up the oils”, it kept overproducing oil. But when I started using these light oils, my skin really balanced out. I still get a little shine through the day but rarely need to even blot my face! Here’s a blog post I did several years ago with some links to websites to learn more about oils and with suggested “recipes” to make your own moisturizer. I hope this is helpful to you!💕
OMG just watched this and Kay looks beautiful. LOVE the eye color and the face "makeup" looks absolutely gorgeous. I am a retired woman and would love to learn how to apply my makeup for an everyday look. Please show other tutorials for woman with darker hair and complexions. Also, what can you use in place of all those brushes??? Which ones would you recommend to start a "collection"???? Thank you so much..
Diane Gentile Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed this video and how the makeup looked on Kay💕 Thank you for your video request as well! I will definitely try to do that😊 As for brushes, you can simplify by blending your foundation and concealer with your fingers. The Real Techniques Blush brush is a great multi-tasker (blush, bronzer, powder). And then for the eyes, a fluffy blending brush is a MUST! The Morphe M433 is one of my top favorites and inexpensive. Then add a small pencil brush and I think you’d be well on your way😊

Diane Gentile You can actually find both of those brushes at Ulta.com or sometimes you can find them both in Ulta stores. They also sell the e.l.f. smudge brush which is a great pencil brush. If Ulta isn't a good option for you, Walmart and Target both sell Real Techniques brushes. They have a couple eye brush sets that have a similar brush to the Morphe M433.

Any suggestions on non-allergenic makeup?
I have severe dry eye and it seems like I get eye infections when I use any eye makeup.
Oh goodness, that would make eye makeup a bit more challenging to wear!! Based on my own experience, I would encourage you to check out BareMinerals, Tarte Cosmetics and Clinique. I have drier eyes and wear hard contact lenses and I feel these brands in general seem to be some of the most comfortable to wear. I also did a bit of research and was happy to see these brands listed on an Eye Center website as some of the best brands for sensitive eyes. Hope that helps!💕

What about wrinkled upper lids? Worst on one eye. I’m also a Pickleball player, but never take time to put makeup on before I go play.
That’s great that you enjoy pickleball too! I think you can still wear eyeshadow, but just be careful that it doesn’t have chunky shimmer or glitter as that will highlight the texture on your lids. But a nice soft matte or satin finish shadow would look great!

I have hooded eyes as well and I'm new to make up and I notice you went in first with your dark outer color? I have never seen that way of doing it but I plan to try it. your model looks great! I notice you also have hooded eyes, can you do a blending in hooded eyes video? please? I Need so much help

Great question! I usually just use a primer....sometimes I feel like adding a concealer or foundation highlights the texture of my more mature eyelids. So, I tend to stay away from that extra layer or look for a primer that has a little bit of coverage to help conceal some of the veins on my lids.

I also do my lips last because I would get it everywhere whilst I’m working on the rest of my face, like priming & applying foundation. Then I’d make a mess when doing my eyes!
Plus I like to have a cup of tea when applying my face so the lipstick & gloss would end up on my cup!
I actually get excited about what lipstick colour I’m going choose while I’m applying the rest of my makeup as it has to match my clothes & blend nicely with the rest of my face, so I leave it until last as a bit of a treat really.
Maybe you could try that?
