i've been saving this video until tonight because i'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning and knew i'd be antsy the night before, so i gave myself something to look forward to. thank you and love your videos!!!
lol. I never understood why people fuss about the controls of early games… up = forward. No matter where the camera is, up makes character move forward. Good video. Thanks
Since you asked, in RE3R, while not a pop-up tutorial or anything, when you see the games first zombie, a small section on the bottom of the screen tells you how to do the dodge. I suppose its probably easy to miss, but I saw it first time and used that lone zombie to practice the timing on, which I get the feeling was intended. I did not play the original, so it wasn't something I knew existed prior either.
Might be a bit late but i am a bit disappointed that you did not mention A/B scenarios for Resident Evil 2 Remake. That was one of the core features of the original not to mention the ability to leave items for the second character. Also, there was no interaction between Leon and Claire after the first meeting in the RPD prior to the chopper blowing up until at the end in the lab. Those are things, in my opinion Capcom dropped the ball. The game could have been much much better, but they went for the cash grab instead. That same trend followed in Resident Evil 3 Remake.
I loved the original RE3. Having the Nemesis chasing me around and not knowing when it was going to pop up made it a fun experience for me. There is a ton of backtracking, but that is partly to increase your chances of him popping up, adding a little more tension to it. Is it a perfect game? Not even close. I do wish the remake was better in terms of the Nemesis.
It tells you how to dodge when you first leave the train station after that cutscene that introduces Mikhail... as you go under the partially open shutter, a zombie will appear and then it tells you how to do it, but I think it refers to it as a quick step so it doesn't actually tell you that timing it right results in a "perfect dodge"
2:14:07 - I know, I always wonder why/how villains in games/media AND real life think it's going to be a good time ushering in the end of world and subjecting the rest of humanity (if there are any humans left) to consciously/subconsciously/unconsciously serving them, whilst they micromanage their tasks, food/water intake, personal "choices", living conditions, and much more, etc... Firstly, in order to get to that point it would likely require an aspect of war and destruction on some level (until you can properly covertly administer a mind control formula/tactic to end this chaotic period). Secondly, whatever/whomever is left would essentially be mindless drones that would require massive amounts of supervision to operate their every movement (since these villainous types love micromanagement), which I would assume would be difficult to do all alone or even with a relatively small group of evil sentient "people" working alongside you. Not to mention, if this was done using bio-warfare akin to this game series (and in reference to your statement in this video), you would have countless numbers of disgustingly infectious monsters and pustulous worm-like entities crawling all over this new bacterial/viral/fungal haven of sorts. With all things considered, Earth would become a lesser level of Hell. Ultimately, the villain would be ruling over a massive dirt pile from ruins of war, with a population that either completely despises them or operates akin to lobotomized drones? The said villain would thusly become the grand ruler of nothing. Even disregarding the leprous monsters/entities roaming the lands - without them, it would still be a terrible place to rule over, IMO. It's just crazy to think about... to think that there are actually powerful people out there whom would prefer this as the homeostatic conditions for our realm. It's unfathomable and quite frankly sounds like a terrible time. Lol. PS. Great video and review so far! I'm still listening to it and only halfway through, but thank you my friend! It's going to keep me entertained while working, so I liked, commented, and subbed! :)
Not going to lie when I first played this game back in the day. I thought Barry said "Jibble sandwich " lol 8 year old me was like t.f is a jibble sandwich? I looked in every dictionary and encyclopedia we had in the house , ( we didn't have the internet of course ) checked out a few books at the public library. of course I never found it. I would later find out the line was "Jill sandwich " and I was like "oh yeah that make more sense" lol .
2:41:51 Makes me laugh too. The idea of them chasing these things around trying to hook them up to a helicopter is hilarious. That's why Umbrella is everyone's favourite provider of insanely impractical viral weaponary!
See my favorite one is Re3. I’ve been watching videos like this for the past month or so and it seems like a lot of people think that Re3 is one of the worst. I don’t see how lol this was one of the hardest games to play for me as a kid just because it was terrifying running from the nemesis all game. I could run through Re1 and 2 no problem but 3 was just different because he followed you through doors and shit all game.
After about a week of going back and fourth to this video I've got about an hour or so left of it, probably will finish it tonight before I go bed haha I love Resident Evil (not so much 7 and 8 tho because I didn't really like Ethan or Mia that much for some reason but I still watched the retrospective of 7 and 8, didn't play it tho apart from the first 10 minutes of 7 - didn't play 8 at all tho)
It's a shame that more wasn't done when porting RE Rev to every system under the sun, as it is a great game and was definitely one of the best games in 3D. I've owned the Revs on basically every system (3DS, NS, PC, PS, XB) but I wholeheartedly believe that the best experience remains portable, now in the form of the Switch.
I just remembered now that I beat resident evil 4 remake on professional and uninstalled the game without trying the dlc. I remembered when I saw Ada in your video 😂. I need 2 hrs now of downloading 😢
The whole Claire and Neil thing was changed in the West version. In the Japanese version it's established it was just a working relationship, but the Western release changed it to a romantic relationship for some reason
i think a lot of it comes down to the fixed camera as opposed to the over the sholder in 4. ipersonally enjoy the fixed camera but hey, times change and people's ability to deal with things they arnt used too isnt all that high anymore it feels.
“Resident Evil 5 feel ass to play” 1:52:28 I get it; you play with the settings that came with it. And I agree, but saying that based on that single argument feels terrible. I'm willing to play with you the game, so maybe you can have a different opinion about it.
I thought RE5 was better than RE4 as a game. Not so much as far as where the lore went, but gameplay wise I thought it was the better game. I still think it's one of the better co-op games that exists.
4 is just bad plot wise. Really just saved by the amazing level design and fun gameplay and atmosphere. 5 imo is just 4 with a better plot and with the lights on. The Thing that ruins 5 for me is the mandatory co-op whether human or a.i. and the level design is leagues worst than 4. I replay 4 a decent amount and now the remake a lot simply because the levels, maps w.e. are PHENOMENAL imo. And 4 remake is the best feeling TPS I've ever played.
Technically this isn’t a complete retrospective because you excluded a lot of other RE games. You are missing “Outbreak file 1 & 2”, “Gun Survivor”, “Dead Aim”, the unique story beats from “Darkside Chronicles” & “Umbrella Chronicles “, and “Gaiden” lol
You have to start where it all began. If someone was getting g into RE though, I would point to remake rather than 1 so great point. Thanks for watching
Support this man.
i mean, that would be cool lol
Bro I can't even support myself 😭
i've been saving this video until tonight because i'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning and knew i'd be antsy the night before, so i gave myself something to look forward to. thank you and love your videos!!!
Hey thanks a ton :) good luck with the tooth removal. Had to do it twice on 2 separate wisdom teeth. It blows lol

Dude, you have become one of my newest comfort channels. Very underrated, cant wait to see you at 10k down the road 💚
Thanks so much!!!
i finally finished the video. great work, you deserve more views for the effort you put in
Thank you so much. Means a lot and more to come soon :)
Can’t wait till this blows up in 4 weeks
that would be cool lol. thanks for watching :)
@@NedleyTV The reason RE 4 is an action game, is because the game had a very rough development.
Good thing to listen through working hours
Shoot I listened through a 6 hour MGS video while building a grill and then using it lol
I try to make stuff that I would enjoy
Im surprised how good the content is and very underrated. Hopefully more peopel would watch it. It was a fun retrospective

You’re right and that’s a fair critique. Thank you so much for that :)

The remake did him sooooo dirty.

Gotcha. I guess I completely missed it lol thanks for that. Also, with a mechanic like that, idk maybe spell it out a bit clearer
Great video, it’s always nice watching a 6 hour resident evil video.

nice vid, keep up the good work. However, lost me big time with the take on RE3. Still, keep it up.
hey look. we cant agree on everything. but still thank you so much for sitting through a 7 hour video. :) we can disagree but even stiill be cool

Hating OG RE3 like you did was def a hot take lol it’s hands down the best in the series and the worst is the remake
I hear that a lot. I wish I did like it more than I did but something didn’t click with me like most others
It’s not even close to the best in the series.

Honestly same. It’s a choice that needs to be intentionally done though.
Why wouldn’t you separate the remakes when talking about the originals? 🤦♂️
Ok, Resi3 nemesis is not as very bad as people make it out to be, i was enjoying this...till you said it.
Look I’m not going to mince words. We can disagree and that is also ok :)
