Lucas I gotta say I love your picture on the Shaw Classic page. Everyone is doing some events, while you just smile like a child on Christmas :D GL, really looking forward to your performance!
Just discovered your channel. Really like the commentary you guys are making about this. No matter who will will, It's going to be a very interesting show this year. Good luck in Loveland this weekend!
Thanks, interesting discussion! It's shaping up to be a great contest. From the interviews and so on I probably know more about this competition than any before and yet I think it's very hard to call with such a depth of people for every event.
Smart move showing up early. I remember last year guys like the stoltmans saying the comp was hard because of the elevation. Excited to see you fucking smash it dude. Quickly becoming one of my favorite athletes
After watching you duke it out with Don on axel at nationals a few years ago, I'm super excited to see you compete at these big shows. You're gonna kill it man.
Pretty accurate thoughts, from both and a lot of these will be interesting. I think Thor takes Deadlift, Keg toss, & Squat pretty easily. Hes in the top 2 for stones, top 3 for frame/pull & finger/stairs. Its all about mitigation of overhead pressing and really its If Hooper can mitigate losing small points here or there on Stones, Finger/Stairs, Frame/Pull, Deadlift, & Squat cuz he's right there close with a few guys on all of them. If he consistently beats the guys close to him he wins, but if he is just barely losing points it think Thor even with his 2 weaknesses walks away with the show. Tom is just finishing 3rd no matter how I put it unless Thor or Hooper really mess up on something. Battle for 4th will be fun with favs of Boudreault & Singleton and right in there Trey and yourself Hatton and I could see it going many ways but I have Maxime Boudreault taking 4th. Thor used to have the strongest pressing and once he get back I think next year then this comp is easy Thor win.
Another thing: leaving Tom out of the power stairs medley after he won it last year is crazy. Can’t wait to see this comp and hope you do great! (Also would’ve loved to see predictions if Brian hadn’t retired)
Predictions get difficult with 16 great athletes. “oh! I forgot x!”. Did a Denver competition in June ( from Florida ) and the elevation didn’t seem to cost me Possibly with the exception of an unexpectedly tough weight cut . Love the videos! Best of luck
You’ve put in the work and are certainly a capable competitor. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do this weekend, especially against the big guys. (I’m really pulling for you and Trey in particular.) May your mind be clear and focused so you can execute & perform to the best of your abilities. May God bless you and keep you and all the athletes safe and healthy throughout the event. Now, go get some!
Man I have been squatting for 11 years , I sometimes think I’m fairly strong , I just squatted 270kg. Then I open instagram or TH-cam and see these strongman throw my pr around like it’s nothing 😂😂 crazy what some humans can do. Good stuff brother wishing you all the best in the comp !
Very entertaining video! I think Pavlo is the dark horse on dumbbells, maybe Oleksij also if he is healthy again. I expect great things from Ragg with the stones.
Good luck! I'm just hoping for an epic fight in every event. I do think Thor only has one hole though (the press medley). People forget he was one of the best dumbbell pressers in the world, and it seems to be coming back the fastest for him.
Another great video of Alec and you. You two are fast becoming my favorite strongman pair to watch and especially listen to. You both hit the nail on the head when you said there could be another completely different set of athlete predictions that are as much/more accurate. I do agree with some of your posters that Stoltman might slightly be getting over-looked (which is testament to the crazy strong line-up this year). He did destroy the power-stairs, and few other events, and finished 2nd in the Hummer-Tire DL in last years SMOE. If he didn't flub that 1rst event with the DB's he would have won 2023's SMOE. My heart still has you making the podium or nothing less than 6th brother Lucas (esp. if you acclimatize to the altitude) Winning the Squat by beating that group of monsters would/will be epic! Are you going to be posting some behind the scenes or actual event footage? We all hope you do.
Awesome! You and Auntie Liz/Loz videos are the best in Strongman period. BTW (I did buy the SMOE PPV for myself and 3 other Iron-head buddies to contribute to the prize pool). I wonder how many times a year Alec has to call Roto Rooter out to clear his shower drain lolol Tell brother Alec he has the best Beard in the entire strength world bar-none.
Best of luck man! I've been relatively new to seeing you in comp but you're a class athlete. The predictions are great, the only one I'd disagree with the Fingals Fingers and Power Stairs. Aivars, Evan, Mitchell, Maxime and Thor will be great but Tom Stoltman beat everyone last year. It's such a tough event to call!
@@HattonStrength Yeah! Like you both said in the video though, there are so many potential "upsets" and dark horses it'll keep it amazingly entertaining. Can't wait to see you smash the squat and the pressing.
The most important thing in strongman is not having too many holes. Aside from that, I have a feeling the squat machine could throw a few curve balls at us. And most guys are going to be too tired after a few events to hit the numbers most people are expecting.
Agreed with most but power stairs. Thor has always been a beast at fingers and stairs and I have him 1-2nd with Tom and it will be close for 3rd with Hooper Maxime and SIngleton. I have Tom, Thor, Singleton, Hooper, Maxime Novikov is a good point on dumbells and I have Ragg over Hooper in deadlift
Elevation and jet lag is gonna play a big role in placements. Smart to show up a few days early, no doubt. Toms axle has improved significantly since before wsm. Loz says Hooper has by far the strongest quads/legs. He’s squatting 400kg in a commercial gym with no spot and basic squat rack. Oleksi says he feels 100% on a few of these events so he will throw a wrench in the spokes for some people. Hes gonna win dumbbell as usual. Just my humble opinion.😊
Thor has been squatting more, Loz is bias and just wrong and its not even that close imo. I think its second for Hatton or Hooper on whoever does better on the stones takes second or they tie. If Novikov is healthy then I agree he's taking dumbell. Also Maxime destroyed Hooper last year in arm over arm and I see that happening again and Thor, Tom and Singleton are all right there with Hooper that he could finish 2nd - 5th. IMO arm over arm will be 1 Maxime, 2 Hooper, 3 Thor, 4 Singleton, 5 Tom
Been following you lately. Subscribed today. You are my new hope for someone to squash Hooper. Tired of him winning. You can beat them all. My prediction is you perform way better than you think.
Thomas Evans has a football background a strength coach in that. His squat is possibly top 5 or even a solid dark.horse for top 3 as he will.need to maximize best events.
That’s the beauty of this show. Even just watching it back, I’ve thought of quite a few names that are very dangerous that we didn’t mention for a few of these. I couldn’t be more excited for this challenge
@@HattonStrength honestly I know people are predicting a similar top 3, but only if their plans go perfectly, one slip up can cost like 5+ places on the final leader board for everyone, it's such a good lineup

I disagree Tom has no holes, he might be just outside of top3. He has several great events like stones, overhead medley, fingal fingers - power stairs medley and tossing, but other 4 events are kinda meh. He is great deadlifter for reps and he benefits a lot from a suit and SMOE this year has some raw deadlift beasts, Thor, Bobby, Mitch, Austin, Trey and Matt. It's a mid pack for Tom. Squat - another mid pack performance, I guess he will be beaten by Thor, Mitch, Bobby, Trey (possibly), Maxime, You, maybe even Aivars or Austin. Power medley - he did ok, but nothing outstanding, another mid pack performance candidate. Dumbbell - his worst overhead, not bad, but not top tier, so around top 5. Also, Tom peaks for WSM so he might be not at 100% this time. My podium prediction: Thor, Mitch, Maxime.
Obvious you have not even looked at previous results. Tom won 4 event’s last year, is 3 times worlds strongest man and you totally disregard him. Disrespect on another level.
@@colinbrown4078 I picked him as a heavy favorite to win the entire show alongside Hooper and mentioned him in like 4-5 of these events. I have nothing but respect for Tom
Hes a 3 time WSM during the weakest era of WSM of the last 15 years. Kinda like pudzianowski with 5 is regarded as less than Big Z, Brian, Thor and Hall and 2 of them have only 1 WSM titles. I also have Tom winning only outright 1 event, and top 2 in only 2 others. He is winning 1-3 events this year not 4. Thor is locked to win 3 events at minimum baring any injuries or total mess-ups and is top 3 in 3 other events that are possible wins.
@@Daniel-zj8wk Ok Eddie on the international competition stage wasnt always up there but he podiumed in 2016 & won 2017 and was the best deadlifter, squatter between them all at the time. Thor only passed him after he retired and never beat him head to head in either. Now Thor now is unmatched but whos to say Eddie still wouldn't have the edge to this day if he didn't retire. He also had massive raw pressing power only him big Z and Iron Biby have. Statically he is up there and belongs in that but is a distinct 4th of the names mentioned.
