    We need to see more squat events in strongman competitions. It's definitely a good test of pure strength. My money is definitely on Hafthor for the squat.

    Yeah Terry nailed it. The wow factor is what separates strongman. I've lifted weights my whole life. I know what's heavy even if it don't look heavy. But I prefer strongman over powerlifting just for the wow!, look how that guy moved with that weight. Moving events such as carries, throws, arm over arms I find way more exciting.

      In order to prove that Strongmen are the Strongest Men on Earth ahead of Powerlifters and Weightlifters, it is imperative to not to neglect the bread and butter movements. In every country and culture, the Deadlift is the King and the Squat is the Queen of exercises. In my opinion, Strongmen should have very high credentials in both of them in addition to all other myriad lifts and events.

    We appreciate all what you have done and continuing to do Brian. The sport we love is in better hands thanks to you all. Ed and Mark would be ideal judges for the squat. However I don't necessarily agree with over complicating things. It should clearly find out who is the strongest and the best, and when it comes to that nothing beats a barbell squat. You can't fake under that weight, you either squat it or you don't. It's as simple as that.
    Listen to Loz from 19:02 onwards where he clearly says "If it's a back squat that's heavy. On a machine it doesn't always feel quite as heavy." To find who is the strongest we need to stick to the barbell squat.
    All the best!

      19:09 _"On a machine, the stability won't be an issue"._
      Why should we compromise stability on a Squat event?? The Squat is not a hack squat or a leg press because of the stability. The skill and strength to maintain the stability is what makes the Squat special, and that is exactly why a barbell free weight squat is the most optimum.

    Bouncing the squat at the bottom should be prohibited, leg placement should be regulated, and it should reach near parallel depth. Eager to find out what the weight shall be. 900 or 850 sounds good! All set to drive 600 miles from Sioux Falls SD, specially to see Hafthor deadlift and squat on the same competition. Thanks Brian for accepting that 2021 Squat was a failure. Please conduct all theory and practical measures to ensure you select who the actual Strongest Squatter is. Not who can adapt to the leverages and gain an unfair advantage due to individual limb lengths and bio mechanics. If you can't figure it out even at the last moment, just have a good old, old school, bread and butter, free-weight barbell squat.
    👑 *Hafthor for the win,* with all the unfortunate ordeals he had with squats in the past _(2014 WSM where he didn't wear a suit, 2017 WSM where he was not fully recovered after the quad tear, 2019 WSM where he was squatting with the fresh plantar fascia tear, in 2018 powerlifting politics red lighting his well deserved 460 (1,014) squat and in 2022 missing the great TT squat at 2022 ASC due to his boxing deviation)_ it will be a long awaited redemption and a reality check for all of us on who is THE Strongest Squatter in the history of Strongman is! If it's weight trumps reps, why not these 3 weights where athletes can select:
    *1,000 lbs, 850 lbs and 700 lbs?*
    What is the point of calling your competition THE STRONGEST MAN ON EARTH if you don't give an opportunity for the athletes to Squat a Thousand Pounds?

    I think this will be interesting, but I'm afraid that the complexity of how much slamming is allowed for the reps to count might lead to some confusion like the car leg press. Also, I think being able to use the bounce out of the bottom is just part of being a good squatter. Personally I'd prefer a straight up squat for reps with no pads and just have a side ref checking depth and giving the front ref the go ahead for another rep. I guess no matter what a squat event is difficult to ref

    • @Adam-bw6dj
      @Adam-bw6dj 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is the greatest sport in the world and I've been a fan since 1999, 25 years, and I'm looking forward to this. BUT I hope Loz isn't commentating or anything, and the reason for that is cause he coaches a few who are competing, personally I don't like coaches commentating a show that there athletes compete in, and I'm all fairness aswell, Loz is very bias and pretty much always talks about Mitch when when Mitch isn't involved in something, even though we all know how good Mitch is, but to make everything fair ect, no coaches should commentate.

      Hard disagree. I watched the 2022 Arnold's with no idea that Loz coached a couple of the athletes because there was no difference at all in how he commentated. I've since started watching his TH-cam channel where he's able to be more opinionated and talk about how his athletes training's going, but on commentary he's completely professional. A bigger issue is people like Chad Coy and Odd Haugen refereeing in the sport when they coach some of the athletes, but for commentary and MC'ing I don't see the problem. The insight he has as a coach is actually very beneficial for commentary.
