Dude I love the discussion while you're working out. The little quirks with what youre do working up in weight is interesting and its a video style not many people are putting out.
I have been really happy with this bar, my first American Barbell experience too. Shea, my sales rep was the best I have dealt with in the industry. Love this style of video, hope this training block goes great!
Always enjoy being in your gym listening to your thought process. Your lockout acceleration is impressive (nice and snappy). Nice hat, btw! And the new ink is looking good.
@@BasementBrandon It's sweet, but my new fav is the SS Elite power bar. The thing just sticks to your hands without being aggressive at all. Super cool. That combined with the Chewy is such a sweet combo. Add the CA and everything is covered for an average lifter like me.
I agree with you, in that it is unlikely someone will come across this bar in competition. It’s a shame, since it is such an awesome bar. Also, would love to see American barbell make a competition spec stiff power bar now.
Great review and it was cool to have two recording angles. You are def the 🐐 at hitting on all talking points with minimal cuts. I've never used a deadlift bar but I'm getting pretty curious. Also just bought a house but basement ceiling is only 7.5 ft so not sure if Garage or Basement yet.
Hey Brandon, excellent overview as always. For the portion you mentioned the knurling and difficulty sliding I highly recommend the bells of steel Jack with rollers. I wanted a kleva because of you, but since they were out of stock I had to look for other options and am have been really pleased with the BoS.
Love the video, the detailed information, and the format. Man, I want this barbell, but the cost is tough to get past. Also, if you ever came across a Rep Hades deadlift bar I’d also love to hear your opinion on that one 😉. I’m sure it won’t be as whippy, but it’s also half the cost of the AB barbell.
Hey Brandon! Love your videos (watched 100+). Been lifting for two years and have finally been building up my home gym at 18 years old. Yesterday I bought an incredibly rusty (on the inside) gray Rogue SML-2C, along with some rusty standard barbell plates and a very, very rusty Rogue Echo bar. Wondering how I should clean all of them. I heard that 3-in-1 oil works, along with a stiff nylon (or brass) brush. Wondering which ones I should buy to clean them with, though. Cheaper is preferably better, but I'm willing to splurge. Guessing any 3-in-1 oil would work: apply, then scrub with the brush. I'm not quite sure how to get inside the squat stand posts. If you've got any suggestions, that would be great.
So for the rack, rust inside the tubes is pretty standard and prob too hard to clean. For cleaning the bar/plates there are a few ways to clean. I'd prob try regular 3 in 1 oil first and a stiff bristle brush, but if there's a lot of rust you may want to consider something like an OA (oxalic acid). You can youtube it and see the process and materials.
In Canada we never get free shipping (almost all cases), so it’s not a big problem. In terms of this bar I wouldn’t buy a whipey bar because contests could/should have stiff bars to ensure consistent records across competitions
Brandon so you have an Ivanko bar? It seems that the tolerances on the AB is as good as my stainless Ivanko power bar. It just feels more high quality compared to my other bars.
Yeah your mention of the knurling going out too far was one of the things I first noticed. The kleva DL is wider than most but it’s still on the knurling. I heard Steve may make some extensions for those jacks but also just seems easier so cut the knurling shorter in
Hi Brandon! Great video as always 🤘🏻 in your drop test, it is clear that the Kabuki and Texas bar are pretty noisy by nature. Is there a "creative" way to maybe damp that sound by somehow modifying those bar? I have a Kabuki and I love it, but damn it's noise lol
Yes def. I'm waiting on like 2 final pieces (one spotter didn't have the logos on it and the pull up bar). Then will do a video overview and talked about why I switched from Rogue.
@ that would be awesome. It looks like it has a lot of the features of the RM6, with a smaller footprint. Plus the 88” height is ideal for us basement dwellers. I look forward to hearing your opinion.
I’ll have to look at the settings. It’s the same basic ones I’ve used for years but maybe bc it’s a longer video or maybe it’s bc it’s the holiday season. Sorry about that.
Thanks man! I used to facilitate/deliver a lot of training for my job so I got a lot of reps in there, but to be honest making TH-cam videos and talking to a camera by yourself is super awkward so that's prob helped the most.
If you liked the video, or even just read this comment, do me a favor and like the video!
Whip City!

Appreciate the feedback!
2 camera setup!!!! Epic
Figured if I was shooting for this long I needed to break it up some.
This is a barbell that is on my short list of bars I want
Don't you mean long list?! 🥳
I have been really happy with this bar, my first American Barbell experience too. Shea, my sales rep was the best I have dealt with in the industry. Love this style of video, hope this training block goes great!
Shea is solid!
Shea is awesome, always takes care of me!

I'm like an old car, takes awhile to get going.
24 minutes! Will need to revisit this one
I tend to ramble
Love the love for AB! People don't give them enough love. Now to actually be able to deadlift enough to make buying this bar make sense 😂
I saw you grabbed the California bar recently too, good get.

Interesting thing is that their bars now technically meet specs. But I agree I’d love a thin collar version!
A great video on a great bar that most people don’t need which of course means I already bought it 🙈
One of us!
The rumor is that American Barbell is changing the name of the Il Padrino barbell to The 18 Wheeler Deadlift Barbell.
🤪

Thanks man! They can be a fun tool (or useful if you compete with one). Congrats on the new home.
Always love a barbell review
Thanks for taking a look!
Finally an SS deadlift bar!
Yep! Everyone but American barbell said it couldn’t be done
🙏

That does look pretty interesting, I just don't think I can get rid of how easy the Kleva is to lift loads.
Good video as usual, I like the stainless steel, sweet bar.
Thanks for taking a look!

IIRC the Hades is more similar to the TDL in design with medium knurling. If I ever get my hands on one I'll do a video.
Three inch shaft jokes, automatically get a like on the video lol
🙏
I clip the bar even without weights lol. I got some PTSD from weights sliding falling off in different lifts in the past, now I take no chances.
I like your dedication to your craft 🤪

Great review! Plus,I love that they make their bars in the USA. I'm curious, would you please do an episode discussing what is occuring with Kabuki?
To sum it up, they've always had big issues. Finally found a buyer/backer and one of the things they deemed necessary was to remove Chris.
In Canada we never get free shipping (almost all cases), so it’s not a big problem. In terms of this bar I wouldn’t buy a whipey bar because contests could/should have stiff bars to ensure consistent records across competitions

Yes I have the 29mm 20kg OBX. That is really well built as well!
I am happy with my blue Texas DL bar.
Right on! My wife misses our white one.
Great video!
Thanks!
Wonder if it will be in the 25% off Black Friday sale ???
Since it's sold out currently I don't imagine so.

Easy solution is to take the end cap off and put a small piece of felt or foam on the back. They have notoriously loose caps.
Any plans to review that rack? I’m planning to upgrade from my half rack and I’m looking at the RM-6 vs PR-5000 vs Irwin Pro SLM690.

Appreciated!
Absolutely loved the content of this video, but oh my gosh, the number of commercials that played on this!! Lol
I’ll have to look at the settings. It’s the same basic ones I’ve used for years but maybe bc it’s a longer video or maybe it’s bc it’s the holiday season. Sorry about that.
@ I had paused it while I was taking care of some stuff at the house so maybe it resets after so long?? It was just odd how many it ended up being.
Brandon's got kids to feed!
Weird. I didn’t get any commercials. Any reason why?
f* the bar, I need those plates ....
😅
Deadlift bar for general strength... is it worth if if you own powerbar? or it would be just a gadget?
Def more of a toy.
@BasementBrandon thanks
Brandon you have amazing public speaking skills. Do you practice or have notes? How do you prep for the video?
Thanks man! I used to facilitate/deliver a lot of training for my job so I got a lot of reps in there, but to be honest making TH-cam videos and talking to a camera by yourself is super awkward so that's prob helped the most.
you're gonna need to compete PL United or USPA so you can actually use that thing. :)
Haha just a fun training toy. Stiff bar guy for me!
@ good to have toys!
First
My fellow dad dude, must be close to kids bedtime to have a free minute like me.
Now the Internet is going to add another 100lb to their totals lol
Only a matter of time!
Also remember, a thinner bar makes for an easier hook grip
I haven't hooked a lot but I have bigger hands so this one prob escaped me.
Individual jacks, or someone make a wide deadlift jack
Funny enough the jack I'm using here is a few inches wider than a standard jack.
Use some fat plates, rogue deep dish on inside plates then use thin plates as you run out of room
When I use my bumpers this thing bends like a wet noodle.
There’s definitely whip even with 135lbs
😅
You going up a weight class or something Brandon, and not telling us?? That t-shirt is filled out in the sleeves.
Nope, just sizing down my shirts to fake people out.
Badass but I'm not worthy
Me either 😅
I'm impressed by how much weight that wall is holding.
Stud game!
The ego lifters dream deadlift bar 😮
💯
