Morph was the very first xmen figure I ever got so he has a special place in my heart.
I just ordered him from eBay today and am stoked to get him. I had dropped off on my ML X-Men figs since about 2021 or so, but got back in selectively with X-Men ‘97. I’m kicking myself for missing Jubilee, I love the redid BAF head.
Needed Morph to go with the classic animated team. I really would have liked his “good” face to have been smiling. I had the original ‘90s figure as a kid, and he was smiling. I may need to get a Logan and Cyke head to add to this as homage.

Morph was a must for me. Agree on the regular head sculpt. Doesn't look like xams but the possessed head is really nice. Hope they do more villains. Magneto, jug, Saber, Nimrod and bishop would be nice (even a straight reissue on both)

This is the only cel-shaded VHS figure I've bought so far. I already have the previous versions of the Jim Lee era blue and gold squad X-Men.

I think the regular head should have been more expressive, since Morph was a jokester and prankster on the animated series.
I didn't realize Morph's upper body was the Vulcan body as well with the butterfly joints. That's pretty cool, however I am still passing on him for now. I also think you recall seeing the "night of the sentinel" episode so often partly because they used that footage in other episodes so often--possibly every time Morph showed up. All of these figures have me tempted to rewatch at least those first episodes again on Disney+, so some nice synergy between Hasbro and Disney there.

Never a huge fan of Morph, but i was interested in getting a figure just to complete the X-Men cartoon cast. After seeing it, i am going to pass. This character should be lanky and creepy, weirdly postured. This figure however is buff as hell. It looks like Morph is halfway stuck morphing into He-Man.

While they're not part of the official lineup, i hope they make figures of the recurring characters like Bishop, Cable, Archangel and maybe even Psylocke?

This is a great looking figure. I still don't care for the cell shading, so hopefully he'll get a regular release. They need to do Scott "slim" Summers on this bod.
Being English, when you kept talking about Morph I thought you meant the little orange plasticine fella from Take Hart. That was a beloved kids tv show here in the UK in the 70's & 80's.
Since hasbro didn't give the animated cyclops figure his jacket could buy a 2nd morph to use the jacket for a custom cyclops
The shading on the lower half of the new Cyclops that was revealed is in the same spots as Morph. This has been bugging me after seeing it so many times, the belt piece on your Mystique is turned around. The shading is supposed to be on the same side as the shading on her upper body.
Wow, hasbro FINALLY discovering the power of retooling lmao they said they couldn't do it. It was impossible, but son of a gun, they finally did it. Must've taken notes from Mattel. They retooled the venom movie buck and put 2 holes for the wings, but they couldn't fill in the holes for retro venom? 🤔 Something doesn't add up.

I'm going to headswap him to make him look more like a Mutant that's only in my head, a very powerful Mutant with physical and mental abilities that makes him a level 4.25 to 4.5 on the 5 point. If you did a 10 point scale he'd be a solid 7. Class 65 strength, Class 200 Psi. His weakness, he just learned how to psioniclly fly, and he fly's like the Greatest American Hero! Crash! Crash! Crash! LOL

The line doesn't do it for me personally, it's nice to get another Mystique but I'm boycotting that body forever.
I got Madame Hydra only to do a custom and I gave her Psylocke body parts (using the Blink figure) and it improves the figure EXPONENTIALLY, thicker legs with more range, more range on the arms too. Hasbro should have been using those parts for female figures ages ago, instead of those skinny legs that warp over time that have really weird engineering in the upper leg piece, did you know they have a square socket in the middle that the upper thigh piece goes around? Weird stuff.

It's a shame that unlike the comic-obsessed fanbrats in the comments I'm the only one that appreciates Hasbro for making X-Men 90's cartoon figures, comic book fanbases can be so annoying...
I really do not like the cell-shading, but I needed Jean and Morph so these will do until we eventually get regular comic-style releases if we ever do for Morph.

Morph - Honestly I didn't care for him in the animated series. It's nice people have an option. Yeah the head is too wide. Like they changed the focal length of the lens. Otherwise a new Cyclops is ready to go with that body(though I'd like a modern torso articulated body).
As a whole they aren't animated figures. They are loose animated color inspired. What IF is a good example of Hasbro making animated figures.
The Cell Shading adds nothing as it's so minimal and without a full matte paint job, it doesn't blend.
With the upcoming animated series, they may do a proper animated line.
Female figures - Hasbro needs to just switch to a new torso. Not just new arms and legs. If they aren't going to make a lot of female characters, then put them on the best standard body they can use for a decade.
I kinda find your criticisms of the X-Men cartoon I loved because of the cel-shading distasteful lol.
