I have a question on scaling. How can I tell what scale my weapons should be if my action figure is (insert scale of action figure here) (mine is 1/10 scale).
Im a Die Hard Mafex collector. It's almost the only line I collect at this point. Gambit is not only the best Mafex figure, he's one of the best figures I've ever seen period. You're the man big Nerdy!

Yeah. Loving Millers Dark Knight Returns, and Mafex Superman and Batman Triumphant + Armored are great. The style and even movement of armored Batman are superior to Mattel’s DC version. Love the that one too, even though it’s immobile. The DKR Joker figure are awesome and somehow a favorite for doing photographing (he wields dual cigarettes and stabbby knifes). Works well paired with the Mattel’s Mutant Leader and the new McFarlane Robin (Kelly). The total black Superman and armored Batman are available to order at some exclusive stores in Japan. But that’s overkill. I don’t need to have super bro’s in disguise. Going for some Sons of Batman from Mattel instead. Have all Necas Terminators but love to have one in 1/12 scale so he can show up at random whilst playing with ML/SWBS claiming he is a friend of Sarah Connor and wondering if he can see her. He also found a Fazed Plasma Rifle in the 40 watts range at the Guns and Ammo when the clerk told him that they only got what he can se, pal. I guess Necas Endoskeleton forgot his there 😇😂😅 Got Magneto as well. Great figure. Waiting for classic Thor to be released in a week or two. Ordering straight from Japan. Got the buff one from endgame but likes the Marvel Legends version better because the Mafex one can’t keep it together. Might be anxiety I dunno. Whants the animated version of B & J as well. Got a few DC Direct, B, CW, Robin, B who laughs and 90s Azrael that I like, but their articulation is kind of bonkers. I do really recommend Revoltechs figures btw. They are awesome. Waiting for the new Ken(shiro): Fist of the North Star as of now. They also have lots of architecture & MC models sets in scale 1/12 (Hasegawa etc) if you want some fun item to interact with. Got a RC car (Range Rover edition) in the 1/12 scale as well.
FYI the spider-man 185 is also as good as the 75, but it has a more matte look and doesn't include the Parker head, so if you're not finding the other one in stock, it is a great option
Just got my first Mafex figure (Cyborg Superman) and my goodness it's day and night comparing them to Hasbro and MacFarlane. The detail, the movement, poses you wish could put your figures in. It was supposed to be a 1 off purchase but if they do 90s Superboy I might be tempted.
Between mafex and marvel lengends, theres no doubt mafex is superior. The main problem may probably be price but if you have marvel legends you are already paying way more than you should, for the price of 4 or 5 crappy marvel legends you can get possibly the definitive version of a character with a ton of accessories and even an stand
I’ve always found the price argument hilarious, since most ML collectors that say mafex is too expensive will easily blow $100+ on 3 or 4 overpriced shitty ML, and the occasional good one. Like, just skip out on a few releases and boom, there’s a mafex figure.
After buying the mafex spiderman I really get the hype but there is also other downsides. Mafex feels a lot more fragile and their hands are way smaller than legends
As simple as this.. I am a 36yo dude who keeps playing toys like Twisty puzzles and Lego. And now i quit them and started collecting action figure again after i own the Mafex TDKR Armored Batman.. Probably one of the best toy in general that i ever had..
My personal experience with Mafex: yes they're beautiful, great articulations and above average painting not to mention not to mention the huge array of accessories most that are very cool! However... I can't justify putting this much money on a figure I can't play with or swap hands or heads due to being worried I'll break something if I only look at it hard... Rather get the Hasbro ones that yes are inferior in all that's mentioned here at the very top but you know what's great? I can drop from the shelf without having a heart attach fearing it broke, I can swap all the parts, I can swap parts with other figures for quick and cool kitbash - and for a much smaller price even after they raised the prices...
The figures are actually really sturdy. A lot of the breakages you see are from people pushing joints too far or in the complete wrong direction. Also you can get them at around 60-80$ if you just order straight from Japan instead of paying EE, BBTS and Sideshow’s markups.
Hmm. No mention of Ghost Spider (Gwen Stacey) from Into the Spiderverse. I think she is one of the best mafex Marvel figs to date but guess the polls say otherwise. Mafex is cool. I dont dig their figures being shinny vs. more matte alot of the times but they are pretty good for what they are.
At 6:39, Big Nerdy committed a big fail, There is no Wolverine better than the ML versions. Between the price, scale ( also the MOST accurate) and availability ML'S destroys Mafex and Socko.
I got into this line last yr & only collect comic based figures, so that saves me some $$ as many like to also collect MCU/DCU versions and other lines such as Star Wars, Robocop and Terminator. So far I've gotten Classic colors Spidey, Venom, classic Ironman, Hush Black costume Bats & Hush Superman. I've got preorders on Steel & classic Thor which both release this month. I just paid for Steel today so hopefully will have him within a week or so. Thor will be available in just 12 days! I'm so eager to see pics of Knight fall Bats/Bane & classic Cap as those are my next 3 preorders. I really hope Mafex does Doomsday and other classic comic Avengers such as the Vision, Black Panther, Hercules, Black Knight, Quicksilver, YellowJacket, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Warbird, Falcon, She- Hulk, War machine, 1st app Wonderman, Sub Mariner & Swordsman!
I was very lucky to get the gambit figure, I couldn’t pre-order it or get when it initially released for financial reasons and then it exploded in price. But some time later I was browsing bbts seeing if anything got restocked and they had gambit for stock price, so I bought it. I later figured out I got the last one they had in stock and it’s currently one of my top 3 figures that I own.
I'm not even a gambit fan but that mafex one is god tier. Gonna try and grab that spiderman 75. Nerdzoic you should also review the yamaguchi line sir!
Agreed @ yamaguchi. They have pretty slim these days on Marvel offerings these days specifically x-men (sigh). A nightcrawler would be right up their alley but alas...
They need to re-release the tiger-stripe Wolverine and maybe offer shorter claws, and fix his shoulderpads -- they were way too fragile. Brown suit should also get a re-release because that aftermarket price, yikes.
Have most of them and they are all fantastic. I would say the last Spiderman version, the one with the matt blue is even better than the shiny Spider-man. And... you forgot about Age of Apocalypse Magneto. There's even a superior classic version coming soon.
Mafex figures are absolutely worth the price but the issue I have with them is character selection. It's mostly big name characters and variants of said characters. This list alone has 8 total characters 3 of which taking multiple spots. I get it the big names sell but there are other big name heroes that will probably never get a Mafex figure made of them (comic versions) like Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, She-Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Dr. Doom, Fantastic Four, which is an utter shame. Also I feel like sometimes they come with too much like that Iron Man, that's the one case where I don't feel it's worth it.
Im positive some of those are getting made, especially Dr.Doom. Going by some of the poses they use in the promos and boxes, I think they are lowkey building up a Marvel vs Capcom inspired roster.
Still waiting for them to make comic classic Wonder Woman, and super villains. Where’s MCU Vulture, or any NWH super villains? Where’s MCU Mysterio? Where’s Lex Luthor? Classic Green Goblin?
Mafex is the best. The Deadpool is the greatest 1:12. The new Xforce Deadpool and Wolverine hit in the next few days. Venom is low on my list cuz I had to get custom shins because he's short.

The absolute best 6” marvel action figure line is Sentinel, but Mafex is probably second. Having said that, the symbiote spidey and Gambit are great. I love the DKR Superman too from Mafex. But the Peter B Parker from Sentinel is the best Spider-man figure ever made.
The Sentinel Peter B. Is the Goat. My absolute fave 1/12 fig. But their Miles has it's issues and the Peni & SP//DR is terrible. If only they put as much effort into those figs as they did with Pete, they would blow Mafex away. I just cannot rate Sentinel #1 based on just one single top figure in their line.
Their new sentinel Gwen is good but she has issues like the faces or no joints at the wrist, but articulation in general is still top notch. I hope sentinel does other marvel figures other than spider-verse, I want to see their improvements
Thanks for this video Matt - perfect timing. As Hasbro decides to embark on a windowed package agenda (again), I have come to the conclusion of actively purchasing ML products due to their indiscretions. I have been searching for an alternative and have enjoyed offerings from Marvel Select recently. However after watching this video, I know which company I am going with to upgrade existing Legends.
I love MAFEX but if you haven't checked out the Spider-Verse figures from Sentinel you really should. They give the MAFEX versions a run for their money. Also I really hope they do a re-release of the blue and gold Wolverine but with black or at least much darker blue tiger stripes. Even if you're going to argue the stripes are really blue they seem to mostly be heavily shaded black in comics.
Indeed. What sets mafex apart from hasbro and mcfarlane is that mafex actually aims to produce the definitive grail versions of characters. it shows in their sculpt, articulation, accesories. everything one may need for a particular character, they try to give. worth every penny if you ask me.
The venom which came out under Larsen is still the best version for me. After the jagged teeth ,tongue and drool there was no going back to the Mcfarlane version.
I don't mind the paying for good figures it's just the availability here in Australia is terrible. Wish S.H.Figuarts could make all the retro marvel figs and do them justice.
Really want the Homelander figure but since I take mine out and display them I can’t spend 3 figures on a figure when all the value will disappear almost immediately.
I don't own any Mafex except for the Venom... sort of. It was a really cheap one from eBay so it's likely not the real thing. I knew that going in but I also didn't want to spend 100+ on a Mafex since I've never seen one in person. With them costing that much I didn't want to get burned so I went with the much cheaper option. For not being the real deal I must say it very much impressed me. To the point that if I ever see a good deal or a figure that I just have to have comes out from Mafex I'm for sure getting it. Because if this one is so good then the actual ones must be fantastic. Like if Mafex did a Phazon suit Samus I'd be all over it.
You got me Matt, just purchased psylocke from you. It's an awesome figure. Better than legends. Just found out though that the proportions that hasbro makes their toy heads are way too big.
I’d recommend Mafex more than Mezco. Mezco figures often look flat and not as dynamic, but they feel high quality. I’d say get Mezco for their movie figures, they look quite life like.
Damn, my first experience with Mafex is MCU Iron Spider. Which was shit imo. It's one frail piece of shit that I can't wait to get rid of it ASAP. Then I got my hand on that Mafex Psyloche which blew my mind, then I got the reissue Spider-Man. You get what you pay for. Two of the best figures that I got in on my hand. It's just so good.
@@HK-47Resurrected I wrote my issue with the figure. The figure was frail. The headsculpt for Tom Holland was whack. The three appendages was ready to fall apart after a little bit of playing through with it. For the price it has, it was not worth it.
Mafex is hands down my favorite line. I love legends but you can’t even pretend that legends are a better value with the price increases, QC issues, and lack of accessories. Not saying Mafex is perfect and QC issue free but you get more out of your money with Mafex
I've been majorly put off mafex with their marvel figures.theyre have been some crazy issues with them.. I don't know about anyone else but there's only maybe two other characters I need for my display and then I'm going to be pretty much done with collecting marvel stuff. There's plenty of other really good toy line's that I'd rather collect Right now modern and vintage. In fact I'm playing catch-up on things that have been out ages and it's much more fun than dealing with the current BS plaguing the hobby

Love Mafex, got 6 so far. But one thing that is becoming annoying is the lack of variety on their female figures' hair and faces (also their feet don't work as good as they should) I had the problem with Psylocke and now I have it with Storm. They have issues with female figures maybe cause my Catwoman was all loose, but their Spiderman (I only have 185), Peter B Parker and HUSH Batman are excellent.
Also torso. Look great and come with much and may not break as easily as before but do pop off and can't hold another figure up, just as an example, by one hand like those with tighter joints.
I love mafex figures but I have to say, X-Men 97 Wolverine is the better figure, scale wise and price. ML made a better Venom too with the King in Black 2 pack. The Mafex version is way too small
okey MAFEX have nicer figures but are they really 4 times better than legends to pay the difference? if u just want a couple of figures alright but if u want to really collect marvel they r to expensive

Same thoughts! These are stunning but delicate and pop off too easily in general. For the price, it shouldn't happen with much of the the line.

Thanks for this video Matt - perfect timing. As Hasbro decides to embark on a windowed package agenda (again), I have come to the conclusion of actively purchasing ML products due to their indiscretions. I have been searching for an alternative and have enjoyed offerings from Marvel Select recently. However after watching this video, I know which company I am going with to upgrade existing Legends.
The Mafex X-men series set of figures looks pretty awesome, Hoping they do an X-force styled Cable at some point
While I love Mafex, the Sentinel inte the spider verse Peter is amazing. Can't wait to see how the Figuarts Spider verse figures turn out.

I love MAFEX but if you haven't checked out the Spider-Verse figures from Sentinel you really should. They give the MAFEX versions a run for their money. Also I really hope they do a re-release of the blue and gold Wolverine but with black or at least much darker blue tiger stripes. Even if you're going to argue the stripes are really blue they seem to mostly be heavily shaded black in comics.
I don’t like ITSV Spider-Man due to its exaggerated appearance. Those huge open hands and tiny stick legs throws me off.

Indeed. What sets mafex apart from hasbro and mcfarlane is that mafex actually aims to produce the definitive grail versions of characters. it shows in their sculpt, articulation, accesories. everything one may need for a particular character, they try to give. worth every penny if you ask me.

The venom which came out under Larsen is still the best version for me. After the jagged teeth ,tongue and drool there was no going back to the Mcfarlane version.

I don't own any Mafex except for the Venom... sort of. It was a really cheap one from eBay so it's likely not the real thing. I knew that going in but I also didn't want to spend 100+ on a Mafex since I've never seen one in person. With them costing that much I didn't want to get burned so I went with the much cheaper option. For not being the real deal I must say it very much impressed me. To the point that if I ever see a good deal or a figure that I just have to have comes out from Mafex I'm for sure getting it. Because if this one is so good then the actual ones must be fantastic. Like if Mafex did a Phazon suit Samus I'd be all over it.

You got me Matt, just purchased psylocke from you. It's an awesome figure. Better than legends. Just found out though that the proportions that hasbro makes their toy heads are way too big.
At that price you can go with Mezco, or S.H figurarts. I think you'll be happy with any of the three.
I’d recommend Mafex more than Mezco. Mezco figures often look flat and not as dynamic, but they feel high quality. I’d say get Mezco for their movie figures, they look quite life like.
The only mafex figure I have is the deluxe the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man.

Damn, my first experience with Mafex is MCU Iron Spider. Which was shit imo. It's one frail piece of shit that I can't wait to get rid of it ASAP. Then I got my hand on that Mafex Psyloche which blew my mind, then I got the reissue Spider-Man. You get what you pay for. Two of the best figures that I got in on my hand. It's just so good.

@@HK-47Resurrected I wrote my issue with the figure. The figure was frail. The headsculpt for Tom Holland was whack. The three appendages was ready to fall apart after a little bit of playing through with it. For the price it has, it was not worth it.

Mafex is hands down my favorite line. I love legends but you can’t even pretend that legends are a better value with the price increases, QC issues, and lack of accessories. Not saying Mafex is perfect and QC issue free but you get more out of your money with Mafex

I've been majorly put off mafex with their marvel figures.theyre have been some crazy issues with them.. I don't know about anyone else but there's only maybe two other characters I need for my display and then I'm going to be pretty much done with collecting marvel stuff. There's plenty of other really good toy line's that I'd rather collect Right now modern and vintage. In fact I'm playing catch-up on things that have been out ages and it's much more fun than dealing with the current BS plaguing the hobby

Love Mafex, got 6 so far. But one thing that is becoming annoying is the lack of variety on their female figures' hair and faces (also their feet don't work as good as they should) I had the problem with Psylocke and now I have it with Storm. They have issues with female figures maybe cause my Catwoman was all loose, but their Spiderman (I only have 185), Peter B Parker and HUSH Batman are excellent.

Also torso. Look great and come with much and may not break as easily as before but do pop off and can't hold another figure up, just as an example, by one hand like those with tighter joints.

I love mafex figures but I have to say, X-Men 97 Wolverine is the better figure, scale wise and price. ML made a better Venom too with the King in Black 2 pack. The Mafex version is way too small
