Yes you now can't get across the single small system without a refuel in most small ships, so you can no longer use a small ship with a short claim time as a runabout to get places fast.
Yes from another video I watched. Your burst cycle is 43% of what it was before but the cooldown was only reduced by 25%. (8 seconds to 6 seconds) So yes a serious reduction in DPS if your target doesn't die in those first 77 hits.
It's almost as if shoving a capital or sub cap sized gun onto a single seater fighter was a bad idea and near impossible to balance, oh wait, they are about to make the same mistake again... Anyone else remember when fighters had size 2, maybe size 3 guns, size 4 was BIG and size 5 were really stepping into territory of multi crew? Or a single gun, non humbled on the vanguard? The power creep is crazy and rarely ever ends well. Pretty much any 'new' ship invalidates the old 😢
I said this, you can't put a Frigate/Destroyer size gun on a fighter and balance it. They could balance it by making it VERY slow, low agility while keeping the firepower of a S7 but they don't want to do that. Even though it would keep the ship doing what it was designed to do.
At this point melt your boats to just what you cant afford in game or are unwilling to grind for. Buying boats based on role or function is useless. This company will nerf its mom down the stairs to make a buck. Piss poor.

18seconds to kill a gladius with a s7 weapon. 🤣 Dont worry, it will have the overheat reset after the guardian is released and they find the "mistake".
Don't worry... they will introduce a super shiney, mega, ultra Andromeda and nerf the current iteration. "The old dumd Andromeda works too well... Here is what we feel you reaaalllyy want. Come on.. buy it..BUY IT!!"
Anyone else think that if balistic have limited ammo, they should have no, or a very fast cooldown (as in a couple of seconds), I love balistic, the sound and visuals just speak to me more than lasers do, always have, but, I don't think the shield pen alone is a worthy trade off for limited ammo, they should be good to spunk all their ammo in 1 glorious BRRRRT.
For example, an all Attrition Connie spits out almost 5000 DPS sustained (4936). In 3.24.3 live, an all AD5B Connie can put out almost 7600 DPS...but this is physical damage that gets reduced to at most 3800 DPS sustained due to physical damage resistance. Now, on the EPTU, this drops to a pathetic 3200 DPS raw, or only 1600 DPS effective.
This is why I'm no longer excited by, or care to buy, new ships. CIG will kill the ships we already own just to sell us a replacement. The nerf to the Corsair and Redeemer while pushing the Paladin was the last straw. They have spent up all my 'good will' and faith.
I joined SC way back because of the redeemer … throughout they years I spent too much money. I melted my very first package with the redeemer to upgrade some other ships. I now have the Paladin with the Redeemer as a loaner and that’s it. I am fine. I wait for the moment CIG is taken over by a publisher. This is the only hope we have. Keeping this project in the hands of incompetent Chris Roberts is a guarantee fail.
@@19iason19 Seriously baffling not to see it being advocated for more often. He has more than proven incompetence at that point turning a lot of the community against him with his constant whimsical flip flops on even the most basic of features...
wish i could get a refund for all of my ships at this point. everything sucks to use or will eventually suck. Instead of buffing stuff to match what feels good, it feels like they look at a chart of who is having fun/successful missions and axe the upper 25%.
This is why Star Citizen Science videos are so important, so we can clearly see CIG's dishonest business model. Not only are these ships hugely expensive, much more expensive than most other full games, CIG also engage in constant bait and switch. Nobody should be giving these people money.
I am having difficulties in the eptu. The screen keeps going blank/black, but with the qr code and cursor still showing. My carak refuses to transport any containers, if I put any in it, it disappears, requiring me to claim it. The is so many issues with the testing that the amounts of reports that i'm making is taking more time that I spend in testing
as if the inferno wasnt already trash enough, they have to light it on fire in the dumpster to sell the next piece of junk, Mirai "pointless" I was just posting in another video how 2 size 5s were pointless on the Guardian, but i guess if they nerf every other heavy fighter, they might be on to something.... sigh
In a game that at its core is buggy undercooked ideas and missing features, people think it’s a marketing conspiracy. Hanlon’s Razor at work here. Some universal modifier got tweaked and no one took the time to scrub the individual effects on each ship/component/weapon setup. This will likely only get worse as the systems get more complex where changing one thing affects multiple others.
@rescuejake I think the case of nerfing Corsair and Redeemer to sell the Paladin is solid. Nerfing Inferno to sell the Guardian not so much. This nerf affects all ballistic guns. There is also a bug with ship toughness, in 3.24.3 Gladius was destroyed in 2.9 seconds, in 4.0 Gladius was still fine when Inferno gun over heated after 6 seconds. Still, only having 77 low damage Inferno shots before over heating should have been noticed by CIG devs. It is an alpha, mistakes can happen, especially in a PTU patch but I don't understand why CIG never seem to test their changes and adjustments. This happens way too often when it comes to CIG. No one seems to check the numbers, no colleagues, no superiors. CIG has a testing environment. CIG could have done in a few minutes what took me 2 hours .
@ in any case, I don’t excuse CIG for not thoroughly checking. It’s true it’s an alpha, but they aren’t a small game dev studio anymore. They need to get their priorities straight because what they establish now is what they continue to do post 1.0. At some point they need to prove they can effectively dev and support an actual game.
Its like a new team came into development, said "we hate half of these ships" and just trying to make them so unpopular they can remove them from the game files and no one will notice.
I think one of the problems are balancing the ship for engineering we're projectile ammo will go through a ship to damage to components but only issue is we dont have that system in yet.
FR they blackpilled me to shreds with that one... Just tried EPTU too after a long break thinking the new sights'd refill my copium tanks atad but the countless ridiculously baffling issues I encoutered on top of the copy pasted locations ended up making me quite sad instead ;;;;____;;;;
It certainly doesn't look good, there appears to be a pretty consistent trend with CIG and NERFing ships. I'm sure they are breaking/fixing/changing a lot in the background to hopefully change things for the better, but there is too much of a trend. Whilst common for games to make newly released content often a little overpowered, usually they are NERFed into line for game balance relatively quickly. The way Star Citizen appears to have it done just before the sale of a new ship with a similar function looks way more obvious and is really bad for PR.
What I'd do in their place: Add further fire rate, keep the overheat short so you have to fire bursts instead of constant fire (Kinda like an A10 would IRL) and add a HUD element showing overheat... the lack of that is an asss
@xXE4GLEyEXx Yes, before 3.24.2 we could perfectly see over heat build up and status. We could also see EMP cool down. Both are gone with the new and terrible 3.24.2 HUD and MFDs. This says something very clearly: The people who work on Star Citizen don't play their own game.
I just tried new PTU today Saturday. I spawned in Orison and can not jump to Pyro jump gate as per last few patches. I'm getting to point of not being interested in SC. Keep it up CIG you are doing a great job of killing the game!
I play a game called World of Warships; everyone there knows how WarGaming will release a hot premium ship that everyone will want, then balance it later after sales have dipped. What is absolutely _wild_ to me is how CIG does the same thing despite not being F2P like WoWs. CIG is selling premium ships in a premium “game” (your mileage may vary) and then balancing them for “gameplay” (that may or may not exist) to sell more ships. It sounds crazy when you say it out loud, but it is apparently a viable business model.
Thank-you for reminding us to not fall for the hype. It is sad CIG have to nerf old ships to sell new ones. Trust is at an all time low. Hope more people take your advice. I have not brought any new ships all year but was tempted for christmas but your reminder helped me remember what happened to my redeemer and corsair. I took that money and brought a Cobra mkv in Elite dangerous. I know that ship will not be nerfed to sell a new one-
The design of the Inferno was always silly to me anyways. If you’re supposed to be an anti-capital ship fighter, why do you have a Gatling gun?!? Why not a canon? That alone would’ve made it harder to use against fighters…
its not really going to ever kill a capital ship regardless if it has a cannon or not, its more than likely going to be a turret killer.. the ship you would want to use to knock out the turrets on capital ships. So all that would matter is if those 77 shots have enough armor penetration to knock out or seriously damage a turret. if you can alpha strike them or not.
in a 1v1 its 100% not going to wipe a capital ship out, but if you have a flock of them dishing out S7 levels of damage, it can sure as hell cause some damage especially to specific components of a ship if focused but it now having less dps than fighters is laughably stupid
None of these roles mesh for meta of a space game really. Like maybe for roleplaying if you had an entire server actually roleplaying that theres some reasons for why the congress bought them this and this sort of a fleet..
@@123TheCloop I fully rearmed my Inferno three times trying to open the ramp on an Idris firing the weapon at point blank range and people had already dropped the rear shield entirely each time… it’s hot garbage and it already overheats way too often.
Guys its bslancing cig is know in a phase where they will start to balance thinks and many ships will get nerft ore get a buff. Whe will see that know more often.
FFS the primary utility of using a gatling gun is so it doesnt overheat as fast as other type of guns !!! "muh rate of fire" No, you can just use multiple guns to achieve say result, you don't need a gatling gun to achieve important rate of fire. Gatling gun first purpose it to have a good rate of fire without overheating as fast a normal guns.
Its not just the inferno, all ballistic weapons have been changed in the same way. Less ammo per overheat. And increased cost of ship weapons by anywhere from 30% to 1000%
@Fluke2SS Yes, the Spectrum thread is very interesting, but most of what Yogi wrote came after I made this video. There will be a followup video tomorrow.
Given the Andromeda has 4x S5, you can double the time to kill for the Guardian - afaik it has no bespoke weapons. I'm not sure if the DPS correctly accounts for the Gatling's spin up, which ofc is even more frequent with the quick overheat "feature". In the same way, I don't think the sustained DPS is accurate unless the overheat state cools down much faster than before, as the time to kill have multiplied rather than increased by a fraction. Overall it just goes to show how clueless CIG is when it comes to balance and gameplay. Rapid overheating with fast-ish cooldowns on the main weapons system and no proper indication is just as bad as the "hold to charge" on the Ion. Almost no player is going to enjoy it from a pure mechanics point of view, regardless weither or not the (theoretical) damage is good or bad.
@friendlyspacedragon7250 yes it is more than just over heating: In 3.24.3 Gladius was killed in 2.9 seconds but in 4.0 she was still alive before Inferno over heated after 6 seconds. Isn’t it funny when the lead game designer for flight model and combat changes just won’t take any accountability what so ever and instead blames spaghetti code 😂 I was almost expecting the “this was what we intended it to be from the start” excuse but this is even better
Well this is why im not buying anything else from the pledge store. Any new ship will soon be nerfed to make way for its replacement. We are not stupid CIG!
@sospeti yes but: 1. CIG didn't even do any testing. CIG has a testing environment. What took me 2 hours, CIG could have done in 10 minutes. 2. Erkul didn't test either, 77 low damage shots before over heating can be found in the XMLs. CIG doesn't even check their numbers.
Man… I just got an inferno after melting an ion because I haven’t played in a few years and heard it was good now and then they break the inferno too. They really can’t help but ruin the Aries twins.
They are doing what other games do when you got a new thing for sale you must make it better then the other things first so people want it and buy it. Nerfing old ships and having new ships over tuned and a bit OP is just how it's done and another reason to not take CiG seriously.
No need for the nerf at all in terms of balance. You can't prove it ,but you can sure make your own minds up on it that its directly linked to the release of the new guardian.
Hmm 🤔 I think I agree with the direction CIG is going but did they go way too far? Just randomly throwing out a number I would be thinking it should be somewhere around 2.5x the time of the Connie?? (Without turrets / multicrew... We all know that can worms isn't ready to be opened) The ship is like half the size of the connie and should be able to keep ships in it's kill-zone more effectively??
Your statement if CIG not knowing how their game works hits big time. I have come to a similar conclusion that they have no vision of what they want to build. It's why the tunings of everything and priorities jump around so much. Very discouraging. I think Chris Roberts just wants to make a Epic video game movie. So SQ42 will probably be amazing. The only thing they seem to be really good at is making attractive ships but they're very often quite dumb in terms of function or game play.

I just stopped buying things, I have enough, and maybe through lack of funding they will get their shit together.
i doubt it, they will just cancel the project
Anyone else think that if balistic have limited ammo, they should have no, or a very fast cooldown (as in a couple of seconds), I love balistic, the sound and visuals just speak to me more than lasers do, always have, but, I don't think the shield pen alone is a worthy trade off for limited ammo, they should be good to spunk all their ammo in 1 glorious BRRRRT.
It used not to overheat (at all ) and was very potent. Was my go to ship for chaining npc bounties. It's now useless.
These heat changes are apparently across the board for all ballistics
So foresight to consider a ship dedicated to a single weapon ballistic maybe become useless should have been taken in to account.
@@thomasinlondon2849 Or maybe making ballistics not absolutely pointless should have been considered....
Watch Guardian sale price being exactly 250$
Yeah same here. 100% agree with o.p.
wish i could get a refund for all of my ships at this point. everything sucks to use or will eventually suck. Instead of buffing stuff to match what feels good, it feels like they look at a chart of who is having fun/successful missions and axe the upper 25%.
Keep your peepers peeled for a class action suit.
This is why Star Citizen Science videos are so important, so we can clearly see CIG's dishonest business model. Not only are these ships hugely expensive, much more expensive than most other full games, CIG also engage in constant bait and switch. Nobody should be giving these people money.
1:20 minutes to kill a medium ship with SIZE 7 gun designed to fight capital and sub capital ships , nice
They went full retard this year. VaX dMg taking its toll iguess...
Don’t worry, I have not given them any new $$$$ since 2021. Also recently cancelled my subscription.
This epitomizes the CIG mark mentality. "I wasn't giving them money, I was just subscribed for the last 3 years."
At least you are out now.
I stopped giving before that and never subscribed. Now I just melt and do buy back tokens and CCUs to get the ships I want.
I am waiting for CIG to force a % of new money to use the melt and buyback system.
Too many people are recycling now.
When the marketing department has achieved full control of the game development.
If logics stands rhe guardian is sold 240 just so to prevent ares ccu
Its like a new team came into development, said "we hate half of these ships" and just trying to make them so unpopular they can remove them from the game files and no one will notice.
Get used to the idea your money is gone 😞
Move on don't buy more jpgs
Yes, they've nerfed all of my ships. Chek MSR's long range / "Star Runner" QT fuel capacity dropping last few patches.
along with a second round of nerfs to most quantum drives
Camural: Talking about the nerf
Crusader Computer: Target Friendly
I think one of the problems are balancing the ship for engineering we're projectile ammo will go through a ship to damage to components but only issue is we dont have that system in yet.
''Cart before horses!'' - Chris Robs
I stopped buying ships after moron mode
FR they blackpilled me to shreds with that one... Just tried EPTU too after a long break thinking the new sights'd refill my copium tanks atad but the countless ridiculously baffling issues I encoutered on top of the copy pasted locations ended up making me quite sad instead ;;;;____;;;;
If they nerf the Vulture to sell the misc fortune.....
They already did. When did you last check the qt tank range.
CIG must be one of the worst game dev ever.
They don't understand their own code and game.
Stop wasting your money.
Guys you dont get it. Its a heavy ship killer because the best thing it can do is self-destruct.
I bet this spectrum thread will soon be [Deleted by Nightrider-CIG]
I just tried new PTU today Saturday. I spawned in Orison and can not jump to Pyro jump gate as per last few patches.
I'm getting to point of not being interested in SC. Keep it up CIG you are doing a great job of killing the game!
The entire CIG dev teams are clowns... they work for paychecks and nothing else.
They b tweaking so hard am starting to think they're actually being paid in crack and fentanyl...
Can we see a time to kill between a ship with 4 size 1 guns and the inferno? I wonder now if the size 1's can kill quicker then one size 7 gun.
@@WildAce001 Then they should've given it a railgun instead of a bullet hose
in a 1v1 its 100% not going to wipe a capital ship out, but if you have a flock of them dishing out S7 levels of damage, it can sure as hell cause some damage especially to specific components of a ship if focused but it now having less dps than fighters is laughably stupid
That is a scummy practice and they have no shame. Had I known how dishonest this company is I would never had spent a bent penny with them.
Guys its bslancing cig is know in a phase where they will start to balance thinks and many ships will get nerft ore get a buff. Whe will see that know more often.
kill time of over 1 minute to kill a cutlass with a size 7.... the fk lol
Fisherprice UI. That's so accurate, it looks and functions like a toy. 😂
Fisherprice delivers quality products unlike CIG quite frankly though cut them some slack XD...
FFS the primary utility of using a gatling gun is so it doesnt overheat as fast as other type of guns !!!
"muh rate of fire"
No, you can just use multiple guns to achieve say result, you don't need a gatling gun to achieve important rate of fire. Gatling gun first purpose it to have a good rate of fire without overheating as fast a normal guns.
It’s like buying a V6 and then they come and swap engine with a V4.
Pretty poor comparison. V4s are rare and cool as hell. You are looking for a inline 4 my guy.
@ rofl!
I love good and decent data supporting problems.
So, glad I didn’t get one recently. It used to be fun. This prevents it from doing what it was supposedly designed to do.
I'll no longer be giving any money to CIG anymore.
This is insane.
Yeah, that is bad for usage. Really bad. Yogi posted in that thread and apparently they broke the spaghetti code again and no one noticed.
@friendlyspacedragon7250 yes it is more than just over heating: In 3.24.3 Gladius was killed in 2.9 seconds but in 4.0 she was still alive before Inferno over heated after 6 seconds.
Still, only being able to fire 77 low damage shots before over heating should have ring the alarm bells if CIG devs would know what they are doing, do some tests please CIG.
Yogi's post is damage control.
Erkul called him out and he gave a nonsense excuse.
Isn’t it funny when the lead game designer for flight model and combat changes just won’t take any accountability what so ever and instead blames spaghetti code 😂 I was almost expecting the “this was what we intended it to be from the start” excuse but this is even better
How can you know when a new ship sale is near? Easy: CIG tries their hand at "balancing". No cash 'til 1.0.
Also Yogi has come and and mentioned they are not nerfing the inferno and are working on this, fingers crossed this is true.
They already nerfed it to sh it. What it had in agility they killed with MM and they keep on stomping on its gun...
WHEN I BUY A FUCKING SHIP FOR THE BRTRRRRRRRRR MAKE IT GOOOOO BRRRRRRDKTTRRRRRR
CiG needs to be reminded this is a S7 gun.
Inferno new time to kill: 6 business days.
Well this is why im not buying anything else from the pledge store. Any new ship will soon be nerfed to make way for its replacement. We are not stupid CIG!
Out of curiosity - how long does it take a size 2 or size 3 gatling to kill a cutty? Or Gladius>
All the ballistics are nerfed across the board not only the S7 on the Inferno.
@sospeti yes but:
1. CIG didn't even do any testing. CIG has a testing environment. What took me 2 hours, CIG could have done in 10 minutes.
2. Erkul didn't test either, 77 low damage shots before over heating can be found in the XMLs. CIG doesn't even check their numbers.
i stopped spending money to CIG one year ago. And it looks like i won´t do it ever again...
CIG: WE DO PLAY THE GAME!!
SC players after watching this video: 🤦🏻
Man… I just got an inferno after melting an ion because I haven’t played in a few years and heard it was good now and then they break the inferno too. They really can’t help but ruin the Aries twins.
They nerfed the shit out of the Polaris capacitor after increases the price $300
Anything on the advanced hud?
and folks will still throw money at CIG.. it is such an abusive relationship!
Any chance it’s also reduced for vs Polaris effectiveness ?
I’m shocked? Who could have predicted this! lol
why would the sustained DPS be lower? especially with ballistics?
so much for the "capital killer" fighter
Gotta sell that Guardian But to be fair this is affecting a lot of ballistic gatlings now.!
They are doing what other games do when you got a new thing for sale you must make it better then the other things first so people want it and buy it. Nerfing old ships and having new ships over tuned and a bit OP is just how it's done and another reason to not take CiG seriously.
The trust in CIG decreases everyday
Thank you for reporting this to CIG, praying this setup doesn’t make it to live like this
note to self never complete ccu until 5 -8 years from now, otherwise known as 1.0
CIG will drag star citizen for many more years to come nothing will change
And atop of that Guardian 'll cost 250$ so you could not ccu for it from Ares and 'll must buy it^^
I is just a bug, wait a patch or two.
Because a ship based on skill is not allowed to exist.
No need for the nerf at all in terms of balance. You can't prove it ,but you can sure make your own minds up on it that its directly linked to the release of the new guardian.
I bet you think the same way about the corsair nerf huh 😂
@@jakejewkes6688 Corsair, redeemer etc ... yep. Its not a coincidence that they nerf the rival equivalent to a forthcoming new ship.
Welp time to give up on the ares all together
Hmm 🤔 I think I agree with the direction CIG is going but did they go way too far? Just randomly throwing out a number I would be thinking it should be somewhere around 2.5x the time of the Connie?? (Without turrets / multicrew... We all know that can worms isn't ready to be opened)
The ship is like half the size of the connie and should be able to keep ships in it's kill-zone more effectively??
Your statement if CIG not knowing how their game works hits big time. I have come to a similar conclusion that they have no vision of what they want to build. It's why the tunings of everything and priorities jump around so much. Very discouraging. I think Chris Roberts just wants to make a Epic video game movie. So SQ42 will probably be amazing. The only thing they seem to be really good at is making attractive ships but they're very often quite dumb in terms of function or game play.
Chris has put his meritless wife in charge of marketting. The vision is milking ner ds ad infinitum.
