Etymology:
Chamatkar: magic
Asana: pose
My bones are audibly cracking
Nice, But I prefer the original names for postures. Carries a meaning and a class. Changing 'Parvatha' into 'downward facing dog' is not inspiring.

Agree with you Hari, changing names is like calling everyone with Translation names...they don't change names in Judo...some asanas are named after the great sages ...please don't change name!!! I sure you would also not like if people called you with another name. Thank you
Thanks lulu for having the traditional and western names. As a beginner and knowing no hindi as yet, its nice to be able to recognise the pose until I become more familiar. We aren't all advanced yogis so nothing wrong it.
