Wild Thing is an asana that has many names: Rock Star, Flip Dog, or its Sanskrit name Camatkarasana. The word Camatkarasana can be translated as "the ecstatic unfolding of the enraptured heart." This is a pretty good description of the strong back-bending yoga pose since the open chest does not only open your heart, it also gives you strength and confidence.

I don't understand the need to touch this woman all over the place throughout her posture.
You bring up an important topic, Lisa. I have been studying yoga for 35 years with many wonderful teachers and found hands-on adjustments to be enormously helpful to my inner understanding of the posture. They can provide subtle, bodily reference points that go beyond mental/verbal instruction. I always had teachers I trusted and who were completely respectful and non-sexual in their touch. I always felt safe. That said, there is, sadly, a history of sexual power abuse and inappropriate touching by a small percentage of yoga instructors. I was glad to see at the last studio I studied at that they instituted a policy of cards that each student would place by their mat to indicate if they wanted hands-on adjustments or not. We should ALWAYS feel comfortable refusing touch or physical adjustments in a yoga class. It is ALWAY up to the student to decide what they feel comfortable with. If it feels wrong, it is wrong.
