I made this today. It turned out very well and tasted great! To follow up on a few comments below, I used 2 Tbsp of corn starch. I did have to cook it longer to get it to thicken like the video. It was probably about 10 minutes (vs 4). I am not sure why exactly, but one thought is the sauce pan I cooked the strawberries in cooled off too much by the time I added the sauce back to the pan, or I had the heat too low (I was afraid to burn it.) I will definitely make it again!
Great tutorial Marie on how to make a strawberry glaze, perfect for your shortcake recipes and pancakes - like 8 with a full view twice from us.....watched it again all the best Naomi & Mark
The sound of the bubbling in the pot is so satisfying. I've never made my own strawberry glaze before. I can imagine that it would be perfect on cheesecake as well as shortcake, pancakes, waffles, ice cream etc. OMG, I think it would be fantastic for homemade strawberry soda with muddled up fresh strawberries on the bottom of the glass😜😁. The color is very beautiful w/o using any food coloring. The thickness is also amazing. Awesome and extremely easy recipe. I love it! You're so amazing 😍👍LIKE #180
I was stirring for 10min on low heat before I realized it was going to take a while to thicken. I slowly turned the heat up and it ended up thickening in 3-4min on medium heat for me.
Awesome strawberry glaze : ) Beautiful color : ) Looks so delicious : ) Great Video Friend : ) Full watch : ) Thanks For Sharing : ) Have a wonderful day : )
Thank you for watching my video. Lemon juice not only adds flavor but its acidity also essential to hold the glaze together, keeping it viscous. However, it can be substituted with vinegar.
Hello my friend. Thanks for watching my video. I used 16 oz (1 lb) of strawberry. It's difficult to say how many because some strawberries are large and others are small.
Sorry to hear that. How many tablespoons of corn starch did you use? This recipe calls for at least 2 tablespoons, if someone wants thicker sauce, use 3 tablespoons. I hope this helps.
Fine Art of Cooking 烹饪艺术 Thank you for the quick response. I used 2 but it never thickened up. I’m honestly not sure where I went wrong. Perhaps I should have stirred it more. Maybe I didn’t mash the strawberries enough. It was my first time doing it. I will say that I kept it on the stove longer than I should but I guess I was hoping that at some point it would start to thicken and change it’s color. I’ve read it’s not good to overcook it. I sad because I ended up using a lot of strawberries for it. But thankfully my cake turned out great even without the glaze. So maybe I just have to try it again. What do you recommend I do differently next time? Edit: I should mention that I added one more tablespoon of cornstarch when I realized it wasn’t thickened. By this point I went way beyond 4 mins, but I didn’t know what else to do and I was hoping I could somehow save it. I stirred like crazy, hoping something would change. But it didn’t.
Is it possible that of the total 3/4 cup of water for the recipe, only 1/4 is to be used in the slurry? It doesn't say that, but in the tutorial, I see that only 1/4 cup of water is used to mix with the 2 tablespoons of corn starch. The remaining 1/2 cup of water is used for simmering the sliced strawberries.

I’m sorry but I followed the recipe and it didn’t work for me. My glaze never thickened ☹️
