Very typical response for novice retinol use. Even though you can use retinol on your neck, I personally don't recommend it cos the neck skin is actually pretty thin. It is a high potency retinol serum. When you first started using retinol, always try to use the lowest strength. What you should have done is using this serum once a week only on your face. Avoiding around the eye area, around the corner of the nose and neck area. If you skin tolerated it well, increase to 2 times/week and then 3X/week. Usually this is the max frequency. Peeling redness and dryness is very common when using retinol as it increase skin turnover. People often give up after 1-2 weeks. But if you continue using retinol consistently, it is gonna be good for your skin in the long run

This is my fav Retinol. I am at my 3rd bottle. I applied on my neck as well and under eyes 3 times a week. They works well and i love the result. I applied niacinamide serum always before a retinol or you can mix with a moisturizer. I get peeling sometimes too but nothing more. Love it. Btw, you are cute! Thanks for sharing!

@@andresesparza57 definitely night use. The result was great and still works for me. You might want to start mixing with your moisturizer, apply a thin layer and see how your skin able to tolerate. Careful not too close to your eye. Hope that helps.

This Zo product is so strong! I feel it really dehydrates my skin from the inside and makes me look older for someone reason. I am not new to retinol and I have peeled before but smth about this product it really drys my skin on the inside.

yes, this product is not recommended to be put on the neck. It is a reaction but it is anticipated however this product is far too strong for the neck. I use this on my face but never would apply any of the ZO retinol on the neck they are far too strong! Even their lowest % the 0,25% retinol skin brightener is very strong for the neck. Use it on the face, the skin there is stronger and thicker and you may get some dryness and flaking but you won't react like your neck did. The reaction you explained is very very common.

I've used a few other retinol products, now here in Norway we do not have the wast selection of retinol products like in the US. This is my favorite product that i got for prolonged acne scar treatment and general skin health, the first week was pretty tough, felt like i had a constant wind burn, the delivery system in these products seem to be very effective, regardless of cost, no other product as managed to give me the results that this one did, without a doubt hands down, i'll def get it again, lasts a pretty long time too.

Hi Joanna!! Do you remember what your wrinkle and texture repair smelled like? Normally ZO products smell so good, but this smells awful. Does yours smell the same? Just wondering if I should bring it up to my derm. Thanks!!

    • @JoannaL
      @JoannaL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't remember it to be fragranced, but also don't recall that it smelled awful (unless they changed their formula)! I would bring it to your derm or back to the store to double check - definitely want to make sure you got an authentic product!

My dr told me to start out 2x a week because it could burn your skin, and you have to work up to it. Also it is exactly the same thing as .05% retin A.

Zo are medical grade products.. You can't just go to a normal chemist and buy them.. You have to have a consultation beforehand with a skincate professional.
I've just been dispensed this product and my dermatologist mare sure I knew to introduce it in very small increments to my routine as its so powerful. I'm no surprised you had this reaction after slathering it on 🙈
I hope your skin has calmed down now and rebalanced and you continue to use ZO products because they really are fab and have completely changed my skin for the better. I'm not a bot BTW 😂

@@JoannaL I was using it a few months ago but then I stopped due to the constant redness and peeling.. my skin did slowly get use to it at that time. But I used it again last night for the first time in 2 months and gave my face a shock! I let’s not my favourite but I will continue to use it until it’s empty and find a cheaper retinol as this was very expensive

You have to put on the hydrating cream after it makes you dry & peel..

Okay, the neck area is very sensitive and you slowly need to dose up the concentration. It's not a cosmetic, its an active formula. Your friend shouldn't have just given you this without recommending how to use. For the way you applied it, it's a normal reaction. If you were going to use a Retinol form ZO for your neck then you should have used 0.25% Skin Brightner. So the review isn't really true to how it should be used. If you use it on your face - the best protocol is first 2-3 weeks use x2 week, weeks 3 + use every other day. Avoid eye area and wash hands after application. The nights you don't use W&T Repair, use a hydrating cream to stabilize the skin. If you decide to use on the neck, blend down once a week only. This is a corrective treatment and not to be used as a typical moisturiser. BTW- you have no wrinkles :-)

Wow thanks for sharing this information! If I had known, I would've just slowly dosed up :)

@@JoannaL Oh yes, slowly, slowly. It's almost like you have created a peel reaction effect and no wonder your skin was so irritated. It's a strong product which targets epidermis and another delivery molecule that also delivers retinol to the dermis. A lot of consumers don't understand that not all retinol products are created the same. It's a complex subject, but your post definitely highlights this. x

The product is too strong. It will peel off skin to renew. Done that and won’t do it again.

So its okay to use a product that has retinol without being checked by a doctor? Your friebd gave it right?hmmm... Have you been checked by a doctor before using that? Just asking. 😐
