$100 Luxury Ferry Suite in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Manila to Cebu City

  • I took a ferry boat from Manila to Cebu City, and decided to splurge a bit and purchase the "Luxury Suite."
    I spent 36 hours onboard this ship, between the cafeteria and my hotel room mostly. My suite package came with three separate meals, so naturally I had to indulge. I also made good use of their snack bars, and managed to sneak some snacks of my own on board.
    Along the way I managed to get some great views of islands and the ports along the way. The ship was a tad bit late, so I had to find some creative ways to kill some time.

    I appreciate you all!

      @@tatertravels I hope you write down all the things that need to be improved, if any, in a survey form. This way on your next trip, if there is one, you can assess if there will be any improvements. Nice Vlog, very positive but for me I'm not offended if you see any things that needs to be improved, but address it in a professional way.

    This ship really looks like a luxury ship as compared to the passenger ships we used to take from our island to Manila; the voyage though was reminiscent of my grade schooldays in the Philippines on rundown ships that took 3days to reach Manila ; your suite is really aptly described as luxurious because it is spacious and clean ; the food still seemed familiar(routine) but then this voyage is done in bigger luxury ships(as described) than what we had before; enjoy the Philippines and Good luck to your adventurous spirit !!!!

    When I was young, we used to take the Super Ferry from Cebu to Manila and it was like a cruise ship. Some ships even have a pool at the very top deck (or maybe that's just my brain creating a false memory haha) but I do know the restaurant was like a hotel restaurant with nice cushioned seats and all. Maybe it was just because I was so young but the ships seemed way grander before.

    • @deejay2023jvr

    • @karlabea7219
      @karlabea7219 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They were made that way. you're memory is point on! Those were the days where air travel is still very expensive and only few can afford. Shipping companies are at each other's throat offering the best services, accommodation and dining. Truly its a memorable experience when you're in one of those ships back then. Now, its more expensive, tiring, mediocre way to travel. They are now mainly functioning as cargo loaders hence the stop-overs on some ports. They are just taking in some passengers so the crew wont be too lonely on those slow, long and arduous journeys.

    This blog really got me emotional since it reminded me when me,my sister and two younger brothers made the journey to America back in 1971.,we traveled aboard the ship MV Cebu City heading to Manila to catch our journey to the states. I was only 11 years old then.,it was bittersweet leaving the Philippines. Just a tip here,the taxis in Cebu are regulated and you can report them if they try to con you.,just make sure that you watch them turn that meter on when as soon as you are moving.,believe it or not my brother and me were conned into paying for a lot more just last month when I went to visit my father who lives in Cebu because we didn't pay attention to the driver turning on the meter. The fares there are absolutely cheap compared to the states.,we were averaging about 150 pesos for roughly a 10 mile distance.

    When on a ship I spend most of my waking hours viewing the sea. I counted 50 coconuts on each side of the ship floating on the sea. I guess sea travel in ancient times is not so difficult in terms of sustenance because of the numerous coconuts growing on so many islands.

      Our ancestors (of Filipinos) are Austronesians. And yes, coconuts were used for supplies ("canoe plants") on long sea voyages for water and food. We basically took coconuts everywhere with us. Introducing it to all islands our cousins colonized.
      All over Southeast Asia, Micronesia, Polynesia, and Madagascar. All of which are Austronesian regions. The latter 3 regions didn't have native coconuts until Austronesians brought it with them.
      Aside from that, Austronesians also originated the extraction of coconut milk, coconut oil, and palm wine. As well as using coconut fiber for ropes for ships.
      And aside from coconut, Austronesians also carried various types of taro, banana, sugarcane, yam (ube), barkcloth tree (paper mulberry), candlenut, pandan, etc. Rice and millet were carried as well, but they didn't survive in the smaller islands of Micronesia and Polynesia.

The food looks odd, like it came from a carinderia, not from a cruise. The receptionist doesn't even know how to properly communicate like a trained service crew professional. I can see that you are trying your best to be positive, but with a little splash of sarcasm here and there haha. This kind of positivity is admirable and I truly appreciate that you still see the good in your trip because other than those blunders, filipinoes are generally good people. 😊

    Hi Tater I’m sorry to say that is not luxury 😂 I have taken a couple of cruises and it’s not for me. Lots of people love it! Glad you made it to Cebu and safe travels on your adventures.

      This ship is not a cruise ship but a regular vessel which accepts both people and cargoes (except rolling cargoes). The Philippines have no cruise ships for leisure purposes which make stops in touristy places or ports.

    • @azuma4497
      @azuma4497 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lionhearted1969 They do accept rolling cargoes (such as brand new vehicles being transported to somewhere else) or just your own car. There are special fees for it but I don’t know how much.

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@azuma4497 I see. But the vessel doesn't seem to accept rolling cargoes because of how it docks at the wharf, sideways. So how do the rolling cargoes exit the vessel? Do they have opening on the side? Because I'm used to seeing ro/ro vessels with their passageway or ramp at the bow for both passengers and rolling cargoes. So that when they dock, they do so bow first to allow the ramp to be lowered onto the dock.
