You have a very honest observation and it’s really the truth, i’m from Cebu specifically uptown area. There are a lot to be improved here mostly the peoples nationalism, they don’t usually (tinatangkilik) the original local foods which are healthier and can be found in provincial areas(bukid). They grow fondness towards kfoods and other unhealthy -oily, carbs, and processed foods. As a cebuano, i also don’t want to live here specially the downtown area.

His thoughts are from a foreigner's perspective. Totally different point of view if you stay longer as a local and live like a local , not just back and forth visits. He said Cebu Women date old foreigners yes that's what you see if you mostly hang out in malls , bars and clubs( foreigners perspective 100%). Most cebuana women still prefer and married to locals. Food unhealthy ,yes if you only hangout in malls , "i.t. park" , and street food(all street food are unhealthy and mostly fried around the world) . There are a lot of healthy cebuano dishes from vegetables, meat and seafood, come on it's a tropical country most fruits and vegetables are abundant in cebuano/filipino dishes. Your host might really don't know how to cook but only the easy fried lumpia and fried chicken. I am lucky to have a good cook mom at home we eat variety of cebuano food daily mostly seafood, fish and vegetables, while meat dishes are only on weekends. If you live like a local , trust me your complains/obaervation will not be focused on women and food but on the bad healthcare and corrupt gov't .

Let him speak his mind and opinion. It’s his impression and experience. I was born in cebu, lived by the old whitegold mall, saw it burned twice. Lived in Tpadilla, Lived in lahug when there was still an airport. left when I was 9. Vacationed every couple of years. Came back for college. Many things have improved but a long way to go.
    I agree with him.
For its corruption and shortcomings I
Still enjoy coming back, vacationing every couple of years. Visiting family. Cebu could be much better but like he said, Filipinos prefer shortcuts, there is corruption, etc. Filipinos don’t like hearing criticism. Sometimes can be blinded by Pinoy pride.
Let’s listen and understand other peoples experience and opinion. Let’s start there…

He is so true if only the local government and national government recognize how bad and dirty infrastructures are even in Cebu(considered rich city in the Philippines) which I have seen when I visited last month. Sidewalks and roads are so bad for a city they call very rich in the Philippines.
Cebu though has places like Moalboal, Oslob which I appreciated much when I visited but a 4 hours drive on land made it a bad experience because you see poverty in the provinces, bad traffic plus trash all over the place , infrastructures so bad that an airport built near this tourist spots will be much better experience.
I wanted to go back visit Moalboal and Oslob but thinking of how inconvenient it is to go there even in a luxury car, I just I do want to go back and it is probably the same experience the other international tourists felt, they do not want to go through those inconveniences.
I am a Filipino by the ways and as much as I want to promote the Philippines to help our kababayans, the national and local government have to do their part in making a very impressive experience and not a very inconvenient experience.
We spend thousands of dollars to come see those places to be inconvenienced when there are thousands in the world(Thailand, Maldives, Southern Europe) that you can easily visit with very good and well paved infrastructures with no inconveniences. Simple things such as trash were seen all over Moalboal and Oslob, can not believe that as simple as trash the local government of Oslob and Moalboal will not take care of it. It is a shame to be in a local position to overlook things such as trash when tourists will bring big money to your people and government. Get out of that leadership position if you can not solve a very simple problem as TRASH.

Also in the city it's good to travel in but living here? I don't really recommend it especially if you hate traffic plus the air quality in the city is worse and in more crowded areas if you're a foreigner or even a local Filipino and for example you're riding a jeepney, I would not recommend you put out anything valuable since theft cases in Cebu city is high.

But just like most Filipinos, when an opportunity to migrate is presented, I took it. Why do you think? The reason why most videos with "Amazing Philippines" etc etc get the views? And most are overseas Filipinos? Because it surprises us. Really impressed with the Philippines? I say "for the views" needing traction for their youtube videos. Who are they kidding. Of course, we want the Philippines to progress and improve. It is my homeland and hopefully wish to come back someday. Not because of infrastructure, not because of comfort. It is because of the people. A lot of things need to change in the Philippines yes. I miss the culture though.

I was born in Cebu but moved to United States after high school but still visit Cebu as often as I can. I think you're confused, I really don't know what you're expecting. You don't go to Cebu to expect that it would be quiet similar to United States. You're not going to a third world country or even a developing country to expect it to be similar to United States. Most foreigners come here for a different experience than the U.S. . People don't move to Cebu because it's similar to the US in terms of environment, effficiency, modernity, etc.. because if it's similar, then why move? might as well stay in the U.S. Foreigners coming to Cebu even tried avoiding the modern places or city life because it don't make sense to go a place that's similar to their countries. People come here for the people, the different laid back environment, food, beaches and social climate and the accepting people that don't have that individualism that United States life is about. Most foreigners here feel accepted and feel they're among family even though they're alone. Foreigners feel that they're among friends and family even if they're alone and no way you'd feel that in the US. So i think you need to reassess.

I’m a Cebuana (a term for a woman from Cebu) and I’d say some of his points could be true, some are not especially considering that he’s only showcasing Cebu City and NOT the entire Cebu cause Cebu is a big island. There’s so much more outside Cebu City. Especially on his opinion about Cebuana women preferring older men for stability and marriage over younger guys who are just there for traveling. There are a lot of factors to consider on that like the woman’s standpoint and preference which would also depends on the woman’s values she’s upholding and her education (which essentially means awareness). In my observation as a Cebuana myself, those young women marrying older guys are what we say either a traditional woman (marriage and stability) or a woman who’s just after💰lol (this is being judgy but it’s actually usually like that). So for me, the more modern a woman is (well-educated and well-aware), the more she knows what she wants for her man to be. I am in my 20s and I have an American boyfriend who’s in his 20s as well. I have friends around me and I know some people who are around my age and their Foreigner boyfriends are around our age bracket. One of my friends met her boyfriend (who’s in his early 30s) through free-diving and though he was only traveling here in Cebu (specifically in Moalboal), he really came back for her. This just goes to show how it also depends on the sincerity of the connection they have. And how it really depends on the kind of woman as well.
I am emphasizing my take on it cause in the video, it’s like scaring young men away when women like me still exists! lol

    • @ronnie5329
      @ronnie5329 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Most of the younger men, below 40 lets say, who go to ph, find and falls in love with a girl, they do often move back to his country. Thats why in cebu city you will see more of the plus 50 with the women in their 20s. I can see why he thinks the way he days, but he is wrong that its hard to bring a filipina to europe for instance. Plenty of filipinas today are well educated, and most of the relationships between men ages 40 and under and filipinas have some sort of education. Add to this filipinos in general adapt super easy, so I think he skipped past the idea too easily, that younger men are just passing through. There are so many filipinas working abroad, so we actually meet this way, many of us.

LA has terrible air quality, crazy traffic, millions of homeless people, raging wild fires every summer, gang activity, a massive drug problem and plenty of crime. Not to mention the social life isn't good and dating is almost impossible, so if you give Cebu a 7 out of 10 i'd have to give LA about a 2 and that's being very generous 🤣🤣🤣

I'm a Filipino American and looking back to live in Cebu soon. I totally agree with you 100%. Also if you really choose to live in the Philippines you have to shift your mindset. Coming from living in a first world country going back to Philippines means a lot of patience and learn your self to slow down cause efficiency is not a thing there, I guess that's just of how people live there. They don't stress; they are just happy and content of what they have. lol

As a Filipino born and raised in the Philippines, your statement that "Filipinos love shortcuts" is VERY TRUE. That's why in the Philippines, everyone loves "networking" or "connections" because you get what you want easier. I was raised in a community that operates like this, so until I moved out of that community, I did not know that it was not normal. A lot of the hate comments you're getting are probably people who were born, raised, and still living in the same place, or those ignorant about foreign culture. They live in an echo chamber, so when you spit the facts, their ego was hurt. I applaud you for sharing your opinion.

I love the Philippines. No place this side of eternity will be close to perfect unless you are a heathen. The entire island of Bohol is pretty amazing though. So much natural beauty, and the pleasant drives in the province/countryside past simple houses with lovely landscapes stole my heart. A cup of native coffee and some old gentle kundiman music playing during the drive and a prayer of thanks. Panglao, Bohol is where we stay.

Nice, honestly the best city so far I have seen when I came home to the Philippines was Baguio, though it is so crowded, traffic also so bad, the buildings were at least nice to see in the city center, hardly any trash. As to highways, Isabela province in Northern Luzon topped it. Isabela has 4 lanes from the time you enter Isabela province to the end of Isabela province. Houses are not so near the highways except when you enter the cities. All lands in Isabela were cultivated for rice, fruit trees, corn or vegetables , no idle lands which made the province rich. I have not seen much yet of the Visayas but Cebu to me was a disappointment when I hear so many Filipinos and expats claiming Cebu was beautiful. A 10 hectare IT developed area does not make Cebu nice and beautiful when the peripheries were ugly, trashed, etc. I saw some natural tourist spots in Cebu that are so promising if only the local government will put effort and money into them and not their pockets....LOL...

What a timely vlog haha, i was just checking if there's a surfing spot in that island since my mom from HK bought a condo there. I was born and raised in northern PI then after parents split, moved to HK then to US. I just want to orchestrate my life trying to leave LA then maybe make based there in PI/Bali/HK/etc. All your opinion about the motherland is bullseye. Filipino mentality is different. After visiting PI this year then Bali, i feel like more home at Indo than PI. Probably the surf and latin dance scene is way better that suits my lifestyle. Also the infrastructure in other south east asian neighbors (Indo, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia) is way better and the cost of travel or maybe living is way cheaper too. So PI isn't really enticing whenever i plan to go visit but I love the people tho, but that comes with a trade off why they love visitors ;)

It comes down to affordability. I live in Los Angeles California, and if I were to rent my house with 4 bedrooms 3 baths, it would cost Americans $3700 per month to rent. If I were to go to Cebu as an expat, most likely I wouldn’t spend more than $800 per month for a comparable house to rent. This would be a solution to most, but it’s not for everyone.

While festivals like Sinulog are attractive if you are planning to go to Cebu for only a limited time but If you want to stay a while longer I recommend a less busy and crowded time to visit or maybe stay in advance before the festival. It is hell to travel during those times especially traffic.

Lived in Cebu for a year and a half. IT Park. It was extremely disappointing and I left.
Cebu is dirty. The locals absolutely do not care about their environment. You walk by the pyramid there by Sugbo that is just abandoned? Saw a guy peeing on the border wall for the 38 Park Avenue building. Middle of the day. People just walking by.
Beaches really aren’t available near the city. Have to go hours to get to somewhere like Moalboal.
People talk about how there’s so much to do there, but there really isn’t. There are some waterfalls and other natural things to visit but is that really enough to keep you busy if you live there? I spent some time in Nustar and in the malls. Pretty much what you can do day to day. I was also the only non-Filipino I ever saw at Carbon Market when we would shop for some groceries. Got some weird looks there haha.
To be honest, I bought a condo there that will be finished in the next year or two. I think it’s going to take a while for things to come up there. Until the locals either 1) discipline themselves and keep things clean or 2) they are forced to do so by the government… I’m going to have a hard time believing nice things will remain nice there.

I bought a condo round IT park too. Even as a filipino, I’m always so disappointed how there’s nearly no discipline happening with keeping the environment clean. Honestly I wish the gov would step in and force people to, enforce fines, rules, that will strictly be followed. People need push over there to change. Though, idk how that will happen, its absolutely sad for me as well how locals can barely make proper money that equate their job.

Your personal experience is important to consider, but a lot of your comments were based on personal preference or observations, which is fine, but shouldn't necessarily be framed as absolute truth of the matter when considering a place to visit. Great video and yes, foreigners always say that it is the favorable price level, beautiful women, and climate that bring them to the Philippines. I lived in Cebu City for 5 years of 5 years in the far better province of Bantayan Island. Moved with my Filipino wife and children to a city near Malaga in Spain and here we spend, believe it or not, less money every month than we did in the Philippines. The climate here is far better than in the Philippines, but access to beautiful women for old boys is of course limited here and therefore not so interesting for older men looking for love. Another great thing here compared to the Philippines is the hospitals, if you need an emergency check they don`t ask to see the cash first. Hospital needs because of unhealthy lifestyles are the main reason why so many foreigners go back home after 3-5 years in the Philippines if they survive. Great with climate but the fact is that far too many people drink far too much and then things tend to go wrong. In any case, there are exceptions like everything else in life and it is entirely possible to live healthy and long in the Philippines.🙂

@@ronnie5329 We lived in Velez Malaga but moved a few minutes away to Torre Del Mar. It's only 5-6 minutes between these places, but we liked Velez a bit more and are trying to find an apartment there again, as the prices are lower too. You can find an apartment for €6-700 per month, but you can also find cheaper ones. We spent a month in Cebu - Dipolog this summer, and my wife said it's just as expensive to buy food at the malls there as it is where we live now. I'm from Norway, and we have free healthcare, so we pay nothing to see a doctor, etc. Dentists are more expensive here, and eating at restaurants costs more, but eating at home is cheap, and there are many affordable tapas places here with good food at reasonable prices. Overall, it's a bit cheaper for us to live in Spain. The roads are fantastic, great malls that aren't overcrowded, and we enjoy living here. There are also quite a few Filipinos in the area.
Search for Velez Malaga, Torre Del Mar, and Torrox Costa on TH-cam videos to get an idea. Portugal is supposed to be nice too, but it's quite easy to get a residence permit in Spain. If you end up in Spain, I can guide you a bit on how to go about getting a permanent visa here, etc.

It’s tough for me to hear because Cebu is a second home to me. I lived in Cebu as a child during my 5th and 6 grade. I have a large family there. And I married a Filipino from cebu and been married for 23 years. But you’re right the government is not good and poverty and pollution is high and traffic is horrible. Thanks for keeping it real.

Cebu is an amazing place to live. Never felt safer anywhere else in the world. I love living here and raising my kids here. Until you have lived here for a while it would be hard to understand the draw.

Mactan is really nice. I live in Cordova. Few tourists there. Traffic is slow almost anywhere during the day. The CCLEX bridge has solved a lot of problems with traffic to and from Cordova and Mactan so that is a bonus to living there. People are very friendly. @@JTS-u3l

I love your quick fast commentary and telling it like it is. Medellin has great weather there yet the girls there probably dont offer themselves to you like the Philippines and they speak only Espanol, correct ???

All the trouble girls in Colombia will throw themselves at you. Many of the good ones stay away from foreigners as much as possible.

Agree. I live in PH since born.
We must accept the fact that all countries has problems to face. And this Philippines has a lot of problems and they just ignore it and still problems are problems, it won't stop, and problems grow much more.

    Spot on!
Most of your reviews are true.
Some you've generalized it, like you said the city is " dirty " - not all.
Anyway thats your experience and perspective. Im a local here. Just seeing video from outsider's eyes are refreshing. As for the girls topic on dating foreigner, cebu is multicultural and we get to mingle different nationalities,.its not uncommon to see expats walking around the city since 2 decade already wether for marital purposes or casual . Only this time around with the emergence of filipina (or cebuana vlogger) -which most contents depict on foreign guy versus filipina etc..stereotype as "wanna get rescued ". ..gross!
Anyway nice to get feedback rather observations, kudos!
