- Not sure if this works every time and you have to get past the first "stage"of the boss fight but this is how i did it and it makes the second stage easy

Leo Ring = lost forever. What a great glitch.
Actually not. Items you didn't pick up are stored in the chest at Firebrand Shrine where the water/Kingseeker Frampt is.
They are lost. Only important items like the Covenent Of Artorias, And the Orange Charred Ring respawn in the Firelink chest.

Yeah, he could've taken off the armor and finished him off in one minute.
Am i the only player that prefers to fight Super O rather than Super S, honestly i think the fight is much smoother, yes ornstein is faster but if you stand right next to him like 1 of his attacks can actually hit you and its telegraphed so fucking much you practically have hours to dodge it, Smough on the other hand is the opposite, standing enxt to him = a death sentance and even too far away is the same thing ebcause of that fucking running shovel attack

+Undead Fred I think a lot of people fight Super Smough not because he is easier, but because Ornstein is easier/more natural to kill in stage one as he is offensive and always up in your face while Smough is taking his sweet time shuffling over.
+Undead Fred If you know Smough's pattern and have a high damage weapon, than he's easier. If not, Ornstein is easier.
it's the opposite for me sometimes, Ornstein likes to hide behind Smough for me.
This is embarrassing to watch on many levels.
I fought them once and there was a really odd glitch. Ornstein died and dropped the leo ring, but the ring was dropped as a normal item drop. Then Smough just continued to fight me at normal size and did not absorb Ornstein and their was no cut scene. Neither of them became super-smough or super-ornstein. I killed regular Smough and that was the end of the fight. I only saw this glitch a single time in one play through and have never been able to duplicate it since then.

Dude, just a tip: taking the weapon with 2 hands would have done more damage with the same amout of stamina, and if you wait for the stamina bar to be full, the combos actually do more damage than single hits... :P
The most impressive thing to me is fat rolling the whole fight lol

If he stabs you against the window on the right, he will take you out and when he lowers you he will leave the map and fall to death instantly, discovered today 2/13/2024
You will get more damage (and Titanornstein chunks) if you use the pickaxe.

Depends, only weapons that scale with Strength will have a noticeable difference.
If they don't strength scale than it makes no difference and it's a waste of stamina.
that is utterly WRONG. unless you are talking about, every weapon that has ANY strength scaling. which is by far the majority of weapons in the game.
Your shield. You could have gotten stamina back faster if you...you know.
I beat this boss first try no damage solo when I was 9 months old while having two math exams at the same time

I did that all too and I have no arms
To do this glitch, lure super ornstein to a wall, make sure you have a good defensive armor and high VIT, because you will die at that time of the attack. Anyway, when you are close to a wall, have your highest stability shield up, and wait for Ornstein to do the stab attack. Once he does that, you will basically get thrown into the ground, and ornstein will walk forward to the wall. Now he is stuck inside the wall. Do whatever damage you can to him and boom! You beat Ornstein and got his soul! But not his ring, thoigh. :/
Instead of stabbing me against the wall, he stabbed me against the right window, pulling me out. When he lowered me, he fell off the map and died, I recommend trying that glitch, It's much faster
the lightning spear in sen's fortress kills smough pretty well, does about 300 damage

@@somerandomfox8579 I had a maxed chaos zweihander and power within along with summoning solaire on ng+. Idk how good that is I'm on my first playthrough. Upgraded to a maxed demon's greataxe and killed nito not sure what boss I'm going for next probably 4 kings since it was easy on ng
@@Bladerunner5146 Well for starters, you are replying to a almost 6 year old comment. Thanks for bringing back the ptsd of 11 year old me trying to kill ornstein and smough for the first time. That shit took me an entire month of just trying. And 2nd, maxed chaos zweihander and power within is pretty powerful, as long as you don’t die and keep your humanity counter high. The demon greataxe I’ve never really been a fan of, but I’m sure you can just pancake your way through the bosses. But IMO, the zweihander is more fun. Anyway, good luck with your play through, one of my favourite games of all time.
@@somerandomfox8579 I just had to switch to the zweihander to kill gwyndolin because the axe was to slow to hit before he teleported lol
@@somerandomfox8579 i spent two days trying to kill orstein with a lightning zweihander before realizing he had immunity to lightning. Switched to a dragon great sword with a couple upgrade and flattened them on my third try. Well i have 37 str or so. So the damage scaling is ridiculous. One two handed strong attack is 800 damage to orstein.

About this bug. You can make him block like that but in the wall right next to Smough's elevator. You need him to stay as close to that wall as possible and in that position he has to grab attack you ( with positive result ), that way he will completely fall off the map and die.
It happened to me that he lifted me with his spear against the window on the right, next to the entrance, not the elevator, but when he did he took me out, and when he lowered me he left the map anywayI hope one day I see it as a tutorial because I think it is a good cheese that can be made as many times as you want, it came to me purely by chance.
Lightning spear WRECKS smough(idk if I typed it right) but the casting time is slow so it's a big risk,big reward for orenstein I suggest sticking close to his legs.solare helps a lot but summoninf him will make him go hollow.so get the sunlight maggot and then fight orenstein and smough

Imagine not cheesing the first stage, but cheesing the second stage instead.
I came here to see if the same thing happened to me, my case was similar to the one in the video, but Ornstein lifted me with his spear against the front window, pulling me out. When he got me down I saw that he disappeared, it turns out that apparently he also got out and died from falling, I recommend doing it if anyone sees him, let him pick himself up with the spear in the window.

I had this glitch yesterday. He grabbed me, then went for his ground-pound and I was ready for death, but then he got stuck in the wall and froze like in the video.
I had no clue what was going on XD

Dovineus a spear can deal with these guys easily too. my first ever run, i was a knight with 16 strength and 22 dex and a silver knight spear at +5. it took 13 or 14 hits to kill O, then i just used the same tactics on S. pretty simple. took me 2 tries before i used this tactic, worked 3rd time entering the room.
So in order to use the glitch that makes the fight easier, you have to kill Smough first? Uh. Ok.
Thats one way to defeat ornstien.... :)

This boss fight ain't bad, it's just hard, and are you forgetting about Capra demon
This boss fight is basically you trying ti kill Smough while Orstein is being an A hole, and capra demon is ez, full stone armour, heavyhitting weapon and balder shield +5, don't move after entering just tank it
Over 300 hours on dark souls. Still stuck here. Right now on 4892 attempts. This glitch never works for me

In anor londo, havel mining ornsteinum with his sick swords.
Wear stone armor set did help alot. I saved ornstien at last and traded attacks with him. It took me 4 tries to kill them both.
And then post to the Dark Souls subreddit: I just beat O&S, so easy!

I see why you need a glitch to beat OnS. Holding up your shield while having BOTH ORNSTEIN AND SMOUGH in your BACK to recover stamina ... slower ... I guess. Attack when both of them are ready to counterattack you after it. Not managing your stamina properly while attacking and taking a lot of hits because of that. Niether two-handing while attacking to finish the fight faster, nor two-handing when the fight was basically won.
maybe if u two hand the weapon to do more damage and wait for ur stamina to refill u can kill it faster
If i could just skip this fight and still get the items i would be happy. I tried cheesing it but idk how im supposed to parry the silver knight while against the fog if i cant see

I feel like this boss, famous as it is, is fundamentally broken in its design. Dark Souls didn't just teach us to expect one-massive-boss-at-a-time, it's not built for more than one. (I've heard rumors of the guy who calls in help later, but I haven't gotten that far yet and can't comment on that fight.) It's gotten to the point that I feel like my success is going to depend less on my general skill and more on blind luck.
This is just me, but I feel like we need to stop praising the kind of difficulty that doesn't give you that dopamine rush and borders on tedium. Most of DS you can think and fence your way through, but these guys are de-synchronized and ridiculous.
Happened to me too. But Ornstein actually fell through and died a few seconds later.
He had it all planned from the start.
You could’ve took off the Havel set after you got ornstein in the wall lmao would’ve regenerated your stamina way faster

it was 2 years late. But how did you not aware of the fact that removing your armor would have helped you a lot since you dont have to wait for the long stamina rev when you finish off the glitched ornstein
There are other glitches where the boss get stuck in the wall but than get out, he doesn't take his armor off so he could survive a hit in case he get out.

Chibigunsou more like he was a beginner and didnt know the concepts of reduced stam regen with heavy armor, slower regen while blocking and two handing weapons but i guess a lot of players had those problems
Your combat skill is terrible but I guess the glitch saved your day pretty well. Dark Souls is just a great experience when the gods have mercy with you

jukka0taxi yeah,but more than hard it is annoying. This is a boss area clearly for tank builds,everyone else basically can fuck off -- this is how I see it.
I started farming for humanity in The Depths (got 5 humanity in 5 minutes). Queelag Furysword is incredibly powerful when you have high humanity,so i will try with this. I will also spend more time farming shards so i upgrade my armor(s). Next,I'll spend more humanity for that Chaos covenant bitch...apparently she gives a powerful spell after 30 humanity donations or so...I don't remember
Get the zweihander or a great sword to at least plus 5 and kill orenstien first then use a pilar to block off smoughs ram attack. Only magic that is useful is great magic weapon and homing soul mass. I've said this to many people and next time I talked to them, they beat orenstien and smough.
Dman04151 i do have The great sword and ive made it in to fire sword ,now I'm levelling the zweihander...I even have queelag fury sword... Yup,started farming humanity there. With that coveted serpent ring it is easy. I just need to upgrade my stats a bit more,endurance and HP...strength is okay...dexterity is high enough. Homing missile ?_ hm,I probably have to free Logan to get that ,right ? hey,thanks for the tip.

im not picking on the beginner skills here at all because ive had those moments... but i cant believe you got to anor londo still using one handed attacks with a long sword. You should have way better weapons by now. And if you do i dont know why you wouldnt be using them. That just doesnt make sense.
Haha it's been years since this video but I've beat every dark souls game with a one-handed long sword! I'm not a fan of other weapons
funny thing is you didn't do any tutorial on any shit, this glitch happened randomly, lucky you I guess, but it came to a price, you didn't get the ring which is right where ornstein dies after you kill him last.

Why you so lucky
This should works OK if you want to kill Ornstein last for his drops, or you don't care about their drops. But in my case, I need to kill Smough last, as I need his soul to upgrade one of my weapons. So this won't do in my case -_-".
Use fire damage as they're both weak to it. Fire/Chaos infused weapon, Quelaag's fury sword or something like that. I also suspect Strike Damage (blunt/crush weapons) is more effective than regular/thrust damage against these guys so a Fire/Chaos infused strike weapon would probably make this fight a lot easier.

I got enough strength for havel's shield last night don't have enough endurance for his set the shield and my demon's greataxe without havel's ring tho

Am I the only one who finds super O like really easy and super S impossible? I killed super O on my second attempt, but I am on my first play through so I haven't had a chance to really try for a kill on S. My cousin told me to kill O first cause super S is easier but I could not kill him, O is easy just stay at his feet and he isn't a problem, back him into a corner and it's even easier
Super S is really easy all you need to do is have the ninja flip ring and be able to flip and when Smough swings left or right roll towards it and then it should be pretty easy to figure out the rest

Because when you play a DARK SOULS game, expect the unexpected. Sure Ornstein MAYBE trapped in a godly unforseen glitch, but one could never know how hellbent he could be to get the fuck out of it and beat the shit outta Mirage. I give props to Mirage for at continuously holding Shield up. However, it's probably best to have filled Stamina up to be able to burn stamina for a possible combo attack. '^';
Why would I want to beat him like this? Where is the feeling of actual victory and over coming the odds? Why else does someone play Dark Souls?
