I just love how the bossfight starts by Ornstein slashing him with his spear, followed by Smough smashing him against the pillar... all of that just to recover the souls and heal up. Classic Dark Souls :D
solaire was so helpful during this fight, almost TOO helpful, i was trying to kill smough first, but he was hard targeting ornstein, it was like he was trying to race me to see which one we could kill first
Yuukei That's the design. Ornstein is more apt to be in your face throughout phase 1 so many players are likely end up killing him first. You can even see that in this video. Shirakko's no noob, but even though he was almost exclusively targeting Smough, Ornstein got hit by a few fireballs. Then in phase 2 it's clear why Ornstein is harder to deal with, Smough only really gets additional lightning to his butt slam, whereas Ornstein gets said lightning butt slam, and grows as big as Smough, and generally retains his aforementioned aggressiveness.
To hell with these current soulsborne bosses with a thousand combos and different stages, this feeling of weight of dks1 armor is indescribable until this day, Smough running in the arena and you can 'feel' the whole environment shaking; this fight is epic, unforgettable. I miss those heavier and simplified dks1 combats, every move was calculated so as not to zero your stamina and that's all you had to care about.
Yea. I fuckin loved Elden Ring and Ds3, but i noticed that in those two games, especially the first one mentioned, i almost never looked forward to bosses. It was all about the world surrounding them, and the mini-boss/mob icons (black knights, silver knights, crystal lizards, outrider knights, armored lions etc.).
@@mikeyswift2010 Most elden ring bosses are good. problem is there is a number of them that are just objectively not fun. theres a difference between actual difficulty (ornstein and smough) and bullshit "difficulty" (Godskin Duo, Fire Giant)
Surely the hardest my first time around, took me some 70 or 80 attempts, and around 10 hours total game time just doing attempts. On further new game cycles I beat them usually 1st or 2nd try... Although I've also beaten Manus first try on NG+ I would say he is the hardest boss for me personally because of how unprepared I was. I did have 20 estus but I didn't know any of his moves and almost every attack I was getting hit, including the dark magic. I actually ran out of estus and consumed about 5 humanity to heal through the rest of the fight. I eventually got him down while being on a sliver of HP. It was the most harrowing fight ever because I knew the stakes were high. On my first O&S attempt I died in like the first 2 attacks, I didn't even get a single hit off, and the other attempts weren't that much better, I just kept chipping away at their HP until by attempt 20 or so I was on the 2nd phase.
One thing I like about the remaster is how fire and lightning look now , but the light system is kinda meh , looks better at certain places and noticeably worse at others
Once we got the ability to render individual character's fingers, we've been suffering from diminishing returns. "Graphics" just doesn't mean anything valuable anymore. The level of detail that the newest game has today isn't much more advanced than the latest game that came out ten years ago.
Ornstein: gwyns most trusted knight and has earned an incredible reputation over his career as one of the four. Also ornstein: hehe me sit 4 times in a row
I always keep thinking about how Ornstein would have been an amazing boss 1v1. Ai and health like Artorias and voila. I feel like he deserves to be as difficult as Artorias since he is the captain of the Knights.
Solaire with the Bell Gargoyles: - Tank. - Overpowered. - Deals most of the damage. Solaire with Ornstein & Smough: - Thinks he is a tank, even if he is not. - Deals normal damage. - Uses lighting against fucking Ornstein. - Dies.
when I tried to kill smough first in New game + solaire was fighting ornstein and I fought smough and almost everytime he fucking killed ornstein so fast that I couldnt even bring smough to half his life. But in Phase 2 he died instantly even with full health
Remember that crystal halberd you got from killing the mimic? Unless your weapons have been upgraded to +10 or something, i reccomend you use that, it takes away their HP pretty fast especially ornstein and remember to summon solaire, he'll make this fight a lot easier for you but you have to kill the giant sentinels outside the boss room first, otherwise they would take away half of solaire's hp (fight them one by one)
It’s crazy because Ornstein was once allied alongside the Nameless King as a dragon slayer. Then he teamed up with smough but when smough died to aldrich ornstein went to find the Nameless king but then I believe he died at archdragon peak because his armour can be found after the Nameless king boss fight.
I remember this boss fight literally had tears about to run down my face due to how mad they was getting me with that tag teaming shit lol. Damn I miss the Xbox 360 days 😔

The most godly music I have heard in a game. But you are really getting handled here, doesn't seem like an optimum character build at all to tackle these two beasts.
I defeated O&S for the first time today ( yes I started DS 1 RM a few days ago) and now I can understand why this Boss is so popular. Even though there are two Bosses, I never felt completely overwhelmed. There were always some situations where one of the 2 was alone. Awesome fight 😎💪
Sorcerers easily own this fight because you can easily chesse them with spells from a long distance, but if you're a melee user and you're not good at fighting multiple strong enemies at once at this point, good luck.
You can win this solo if you use a light weapon with light armour, the point is to be fast. It will be x5 hard for you if you're a super heavy melee user.

Gadin534 that was a charge up attack, to which he collided with the pole hitbox and cancelled it.
i think ornstein can jump, but hey,i just saw that in the video XD
This game has more bugs than Prepare to die edition lol
remaster my ass
that bug is in the original and PtDE. it's a remaster not a remake. only so much they can do running it on the same engine
What abomination is that fashion he's wearing
Crimson Robes
Strakee at least it's not full havel gear
Russell westbrook's fashion
Strakee The best kind.
Strakee I presume this is a joke, but if it’s not than his armor just makes him look fat. He’s not fat he’s just very muscular and the armor makes him look fat.
0:24, so I just need to get my souls back , and I'm good..... Ornstein: Heeaal Naw .
3:01
Ornstein: Fiuuuu
HAAHHAHAAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAH
Everyone talking about 1:50 ,but no one talks about 2:55
Same bro
1:50
That timing tho!
Liam Vonz He protected his friend :'(
(could be a Gif )
Dunkstein and Slamough: Origins
I just love how the bossfight starts by Ornstein slashing him with his spear, followed by Smough smashing him against the pillar... all of that just to recover the souls and heal up. Classic Dark Souls :D
Can relate😅😅😅
solaire was so helpful during this fight, almost TOO helpful, i was trying to kill smough first, but he was hard targeting ornstein, it was like he was trying to race me to see which one we could kill first
This is probably the most accurate scene to the quote, “This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them!”
I always feel like the battle would be more intense if you kill Smough, makes it more interesting honestly.
Yuukei gotta kill fatty 1st
Yep you gotta get the Leo Ring
havel twink you do know smough isn't fat right it's just his armor
alvi syahri Just try Smough's armor in DS3. You can be skinny like you want but once you wear it you become a fat guy
@RAYHAN REHEMA PUTRA raime, trone watcher & defender (I think)..
*Space jam starts playing*
PICKLE RIIIIICK!
These boss’s are smart first objective: Make sure player does not get souls back
Sif: The saddest boss to kill.
These guys: The absolute hardest.
*Laughs in DLC bosses and Bed of Chaos*
*laughs is slave night Gael and nameless king*
Laughs maliciously in Manus
Soul of cinder and champion gundyr
One thing I like about the remaster is how fire and lightning look now , but the light system is kinda meh , looks better at certain places and noticeably worse at others
Once we got the ability to render individual character's fingers, we've been suffering from diminishing returns. "Graphics" just doesn't mean anything valuable anymore. The level of detail that the newest game has today isn't much more advanced than the latest game that came out ten years ago.
Thalanox Tell that to God of War or Witcher 3 on pc with max settings.
Sycotic Forever Or DS3 lol.
Is it me or i heard smough laughing/mumbling?
Seems the rumors were true
Ornstein: gwyns most trusted knight and has earned an incredible reputation over his career as one of the four.
Also ornstein: hehe me sit 4 times in a row
I thought Artorias was Gwyns most trusted knight.
@@orb9760 Ornstein is the leader of the four knights
I always keep thinking about how Ornstein would have been an amazing boss 1v1. Ai and health like Artorias and voila. I feel like he deserves to be as difficult as Artorias since he is the captain of the Knights.
There is a fight with him in Dark Souls 2. Though it is not very hard.
0:00 now thats an intro
Ornstein eyes seem to have not adjusted in the remaster. I dont remember those dud spear attacks
Ornstein-the kind of guy who'd cry after a funeral
Smough-the kind of guy to hit on the widow during the funeral
Correction, who would hit the widow.
Claudiu-Mihai Puiu HA HA
Smough actually hits the deceased in this case
Smough would eat the deceased, that’s kinda his thing.
0:06
"Mom said it's my turn on the ps5"
0:12
"Do what your little brother says"
Smough: prepare for trouble!
Ornstine: and make it double!
I changed the comment so u don't know how I got likes
Lol
Best comment
Smough: Oh nooooooooo
Ornstein: I'm not letting you die
And what thanks does Ornstein get? He gets crushed by Smough's hammer when the player kills him first
this is one of those memes that just make me close my eyes and smile because it's just dumb lmao
Why are they seem more aggressive in the remaster?
that "boom" sound at 0:05 when it shows Smough is so badass and terrifying at the same time
Solaire with the Bell Gargoyles:
- Tank.
- Overpowered.
- Deals most of the damage.
Solaire with Ornstein & Smough:
- Thinks he is a tank, even if he is not.
- Deals normal damage.
- Uses lighting against fucking Ornstein.
- Dies.
Still makes the boss a lot easier but i think everyone should fight them solo they are designed so and perfectly at that
Well solaire in NG making alot of damage to the boss tho
I trying to kill smough while solairr make oisnter health lost so fast :v
when I tried to kill smough first in New game + solaire was fighting ornstein and I fought smough and almost everytime he fucking killed ornstein so fast that I couldnt even bring smough to half his life. But in Phase 2 he died instantly even with full health
@@officertenpenny9792 i find this fight alot easier without Solaire tho
At least their took lesson
and in Dark Souls 3 most npc are usefull in their intended boss fight
0:23
"Ay yo hol up gotta get my sou-"
*NO*
0:21
Chosen Undead: my precious souls, gotta take them back.
Ornstein: Bitch please.
Remember that crystal halberd you got from killing the mimic? Unless your weapons have been upgraded to +10 or something, i reccomend you use that, it takes away their HP pretty fast especially ornstein
and remember to summon solaire, he'll make this fight a lot easier for you
but you have to kill the giant sentinels outside the boss room first, otherwise they would take away half of solaire's hp (fight them one by one)
One of the most iconic bosses in gaming history and one of the few duo fights that actually works well.
I've been stuck on this boss fight for months, the music is stuck in my head
Everyone was stuck on this boss.
It took me 53 trys to beat them the first time i played this game.^^
Their armors looks a lot more rusty here
Scout Relic i missed you scout relic
Makes sense if they’ve been guarding that area for gods no how long, this story is about there age of fire coming to an end,
Just Smough as Ornstein is an illusion created by Lord Gwyndolin, he is just as Gwenevere.
Butcaru Hristu That's the real Smough, only Ornstein and Gwynevere are allusions.
It can be as you also find Smough armor in dark souls 3
Still one of the best fights in the entire franchise! This fight opened an era in soulsgames
Q U A N well that's just sad.
Now u get to enjoy it on the ONE
They wuz
Dark souls remastered, ornstein and smough boss fight 1080p, 60fps
Gets pwned first 3 seconds
Yeah, he made a lot of mistakes
He let one of them out of his sight so many times I lost count.
Entered the arena with only 10 estus
Got greedy a few times.
(this one's just my personal opinion) didn't seem to have humanity on the quick select as backup heal
Piotr Napora most importantly he rushed to get his souls back several times and got pwned for it. Such a classic rookie mistake.
They looks so much more detailed now. I love it.
nope, the lighting is way better, BUT it not justifie a $40 price
Barely...
HayaMark Creations I mean the floor looks better ish 😉
looks exactly the same to me, except they arent as yellow now
Nicolhime change youtubes resolution, because it's definitely more detail.
in that first cutscene, the first few seconds of music gives me nostalgia for something that i don’t even know about
Bought the entire Souls series last month cause I've never played any of the Souls games before, and I've just made it to these two today and loved every moment of it and the game as a whole.
It is easily the best DS fight
@@vivaldireal1741 couldn't agree more
Doing the same right now. Got them in my third try. Really good boss and really excited to continue playing.
Does anyone notice that smough is making sounds?
Jevin Tan He always has done.
I embarrassingly never noticed this myself before either. Probably cause I was too busy yelling "roll motherfucker!" at my tv.
2:58 *EH HEH OH..*
Yeah hes done that allways! Hehehe
Joseph Waters its not, like not even close
The most godly music I have heard in a game. But you are really getting handled here, doesn't seem like an optimum character build at all to tackle these two beasts.
02:56
Smough: Uh-oh!
Ornstein: I've got your back!
#teamwork
3:40-Ornstein: Smough give me your power to smash this undead ant
0:36 Is that Smough laughing?
Ye hes laughing throughout the fight
1:50 GET DOWN MR.PRESIDENT!!!
I defeated O&S for the first time today ( yes I started DS 1 RM a few days ago) and now I can understand why this Boss is so popular. Even though there are two Bosses, I never felt completely overwhelmed. There were always some situations where one of the 2 was alone. Awesome fight 😎💪
Now play DS2 and have fun with the Belfry Gargoyles. It's the fairest boss fight in the series, trust me bro
@@marcelovieira519 that was one of the hardest boss fight for me in that game lmao
I screamed SO HARD when I beat this boss
BTW: I had to beat it solo
Man, this weird sounds is Smough laughter. It took me ages to figure this out.
4:50 I just noticed that Ornstein does Smough’s laugh when doing a ground pound
0:15 I dont know why but I always expect him to smash ornstein right there.
@@fr.Angel21 Nah, not hard in New game. I've seen people struggle a lot against them and then equip full havel and heavy and going easily.
Now this is Fashion Souls at it’s finest.
I’ve seen the meme version so many times I kept expecting the music to break out into 🎵 “COME ON AND SLAM” 🎵 💀
I was today years old when I found out smough has a laughing sound and that it is actually used during the fight
What the Godskin duo should of been
Hands down the best boss fight in the game. Duo fights are always badass when FromSoft is behind the wheel.
Say the same thing to godskin duo in elden ring XD
@@mr.motionless7245 or any duo/trio boss fight in ER
@@obambagaming1467 or any duo fight ever because that’s just the nature of two on one
Honestly almost all duo fights that Fromsoft makes fucking sucks. They’re almost always tedious, they just caught lightning in a bottle twice in DS1
Ah, the memories of me dying...
Твой бой одно сплошное везение, когда ты валяешься или встаёшь, толстяк или рыцарь может убить тебя в любой момент.
Fighting these guys alone with Dext build was the most painful experience i ever had (i summoned Solaire)
