    Hi Cesar,
    Really good to see such a talented artist as yourself pushing out with your comfort zone to try a new medium. Can really see the transfer of your oil painting knowledge being applied to this medium. Can really see why Sargent was so fond of watercolour as well as oils and how the two disciplines can compliment one another. I am learning so much from you. Keep the vlogs going, let’s wrap this message up;
    You are riding on the train,
    And the message is plain,
    Being filmed by your wife,
    As you’re painting from life,
    Bumping along the train line
    And your sketchbook is fine!

    Hola Amigo Cesar Santos, yo soy de las islas FIlipinas. Yo no hablo Espanol bien. The reason why I am writing you a message is that I just wanted to share my experience, and also to thank you for your video and your philosophy that inspires me as an artist as well. As a matter of fact, I am also an Artist but I am artist comics illustrator, animator and industrial designer. My dream is in fact, to meet you in person, I am older than you Cesar, but you did inspires me with your art, your style of classical approach of painting. I also studied in Moscow Industrial Design School (Escuela Superior de Diseno Industrial named after Stroganov en Moscu, la URSS- desde 1985 hasta 1993 anos. Though I studied design, but we never paid attention too much in Human figure drawing and classical painting at the same time, until i graduated, and when I dived into a job,,i started learning myself, digged deeper search for my own style, Though I was a comics artist before I left the Philippines in September of 1985, I was not that skillful enough and to these date. I became cartoonist animator in United Arab Emirates but not too strong...
    What I mean, these days, I already turned 53 last August 2018 and going to be 54 this year, I started reviving my desire to do visual arts, and certainly, as I go online searching for the masters, and then that is the reason I found you...Also I wish to share to you that I got some Cuban friends who studied with me in Stroganov Art School in Moscow, Russia, his name is Lizardo Ochoa, for what I remember he did monumental painting,, Nidia Fernandez, Nora Fuentes and Gabriel who did INterior Design forgot his apellido. We in fact, all speak fluently in Russian. Becaus enthat isour medium of communication in USSR that time. Well, its too interesting to watch your video about drawing and painting your classical approach really inspires me...and besides, Philippines is also a tropical countru like Cuba, and we both had the same destiny when AMerican ceded our country from Spain during the 1898 SPanish AMerican War...that is when the Treaty of Paris signed in 1898,,and Philippines was bought for 20 million dollars by the US from Spain...and same thing happened to Puerto Rico, Cuba and Guam in Marianas Islands in the Pacific, How I wish to meet you in person one day....Your avid fan...Your uncle form the Philippines my name is Manolito M Agustin
    Good Job!

    Cesar, I love this new style. Sketching is very popular nowadays although your paintings shouldn't be considered as sketches. I prefer this more down to earth gouache style than the oil sketchbook that is same quality as your paintings in a canvas. Thank you for producing this beautiful video and please show us more!

    You are phenomenal and I love your attitude towards expressing your artistic ability. You are a no-nonsense kid just enjoying creating art. I wish I had your attitude towards expressing my artistic ability. My goodness, you should be a very famous artist enjoying life and all it has to offer you. I wish when I was younger I could have studied art, and work towards becoming an accomplished artist. Unfortunately no family support, to poor. I'm grateful for people like you who inspire people like me to try things that burn in your heart to do. I thank you for sharing your beautiful life with me and others. You make me feel good about myself, and inspire me as well to try my artistic ability in drawing and painting. Thanks again, Phil

    Omggggggggg I've never been one of the first dozen to comment haha this is exciting. Okay. I just want to say that your a great artist, pushing your skillset beyond what you normally do is good, that's how we expand our knowledge and skill. We humans are the most amazing machines, we can adapt to anything or everything. I bet you even do sketches in your dreams. I wish I had one percent of your brain process. People think I'm talented but I am not, I'm just lazy. I do art on digital phone because it's no paper, no paint, and I just draw whenever I want. I miss painting with real paints on real canvas. I hate this world, all we have time for is bills, work and rest. God bless you and your family for bringing such amazing talent to the public. I only hope that I stop being lazy and begin uploading drawing videos too so you can enjoy as well. Your "sketch" book is not a sketch book, it's a glance at the work of a living master painter. [Puerto Rico] Eres extraordinario Censar Santos. I least I have your last name. I am Marlon Alberto Rodríguez Santos.

    Hi Cesar & everyone, A question: What made you choose Gouache over Acrylics? Is-it because when it's dry on the palet it can still be reactivated? Or is-it juste to avoid to ruin your clothes if's falling into you because of the train moves... anyway, thanks ALOT for your work and videos!

    • @santocesart
      @santocesart  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Cesar ... I think you have a great skills and I really like work ..
    I have a question and hope you reply me..
    I shading using "back and forth " stroke technique .. I tried to use cross hatching and cross contour lines for long time ,but I really bad at them and finding my self more comfort with the back and forth lines ..
    So my question is ..should I continue to try other cross hatching and cross contour techniques ?? Or just using the simpler back and forth and angular hatching techniques ? Is it normal that an artist be better in some techniques than others ?
