About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Not only one of the most underrated Blur songs, but also very overlooked video. I find it fantastic.
Glad so many people saying that on here...
It's funny cause Dave Rowntree (The Drummer) says this is his favourite Blur video.
i'm obsessed with this song
Aaron Thomas
It's probably because he actually got to be in it XD
Thrillseeker8922 Agreed!
Wish i was in London in the 90's. Looked like a blast
I justo love London ♥️.
And in the 90's people were saying the same about the 60's.
LilHaseProductions In my opinion always iss cool
@Dimitri von zhagk That's not true get out
@Dimitri von zhagk immigrants have done more for our country than most brits tbh
According to Blur, this song was written in just 15 minutes but I think it’s great!
no way
jojo there’s no other way
Some of the best song are, they just come along
Sounds like it.
Totally!
the bass line in this song is amazing

@@invisiblecurious856cheese man lol
Funny how Blur hate this song when fans really really love it!
Same with country house
It’s Blur. You’ll never know what they REALLY feel. That’s the point.
that’s because we’re bitchless and they’re not
They don't hate this as much as Country House 😂😂
WHA- I didn’t knew that.
It's normal to feel life is good when listening to this kind of music ?
Feeling good is an understatement
Not normal - but then being normal is over-rated...
These early Blur singles are just flawless.
I love this band more than words can articulate
You said it!
They're so young and cute here.
Forreals I wanna hug them
i want to clone them
Young and lovely
Damon and Alex are still cute, rowntree and graham didn't age so well
shan Nah Graham is a cutie
Damon has the best dance moves XD
+Beamkatana Blazerose With Thom Yorke XD
Lol yeah he's adorable
You should see Roland Orzabal in the Tears For Fears vids lol
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
I don't need anyone

Literally, my actual mood.
can we talk how beautiful Graham looks here?
hello, can we talk about how beautiful they all look here?
Yes please
Cute asf (no homo)
Here? Can we talk about how beautiful Graham looks?
Just look em now, age sucks.
2:06 I love this guy even if if he triplicates my age
Same 🏃♀️
SAME BYEE
I really don't know why they think that leisure is a bad album, ok its no parklife, blur blur ....but I think it's good!
Riviere8281 i don't think many people think it's bad. It's an okay, or average album for many. Personally I like it, yes, it's no Parklife or MLIR or 13 but it's still a good album. Blur is one of the rare groups which released 8 albums and all of them are at least good, or great.
Riviere8281 I don't know that they hate Leisure, but they have said they hate this single.
+TheChiLeana 13 is your go to album from blur? Interesting, i find it to be the worst out of all their albums.
i don't know if this album is considering "bad" for the most of people, but for the band, yes, because its not what they looking for (also, sorry for my english)
+Asillyhobo Damon says this Album is "Awful"
I was so rabid for “britpop” back in Oklahoma in the 90s, that I would drive 3 1/2 hours(one way) to Dallas, TX to Bill’s Records and Tapes, just to get my hands on anything I could get. One trip down, I bought the “There’s No Other Way” single without even hearing it. The name blur and the cover of the cd was enough for me. I also got “The Only One I Know” single by the Charlatans. Wow. Two classic debut singles(not counting Indian Rope) by two bands that I love still. I raced back home with a bag of goodies and Bill or one of his “curated” employees slipped in a free promo copy of blur’s “Leisure” album. No cover. Just plain sleeve. When I got to this, Bang stood out as a great follow-up to “There’s no other way”. It was bouncy and mid tempo Coxon shimmery goodness. I’m so proud to be the right age at the moment these bands happened.
Sitting in a SDT
Waiting for an underground train
To rumble underneath my feet
Bang goes another day
Where it went I could not say
Now I'll have to wait another week
When all is said and all is done
What was said was never done
Don't panic, it's not really worth your while
Bang goes another year
In and out of one ear
Everybody's doing it, so do it too
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
Sitting on the early bus
Passing through the morning rush
It makes no difference that I'm not with you
Bang goes another year
In and out of one ear
Everybody's doing it, I'll do it too
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
I don't need anyone
But a little of your love can make things better
I don't need anyone
But a little love would make things better
I don't need anyone
But a little of your love can make things better
Thanks man
What is an SDT, anyway?
@@DTD110865 i heard 'STD' 😂
I believe SDT is sensory deprivation tank - i.e switching off mentally, checking out, mindless drone f as can be the case on a commute on the tube, the banality of life, the only thing making it good is the girl
Tomorrow comes today was a reference to this video
I think u might be right
not really these kinds of videos were really popular in the 90s/early 2000s
Omg yes
@@Bi_scotti_5 Not only because of "Oh it looks like Tomorrow comes today", but also because both are songs of Damon Albarn :p
@@davimag2071 what are you talking about that's not a line in either song
This was one of the first blur songs I ever heard. I have mad respect for this band, and I have had since I first heard them some time in the nineties.
Perhaps Damon came here and disliked it himself:
"Bang! Our worst ever. Just appalling, lyrically and musically. If we ever do a singles compilation we’ll rewrite history to omit it.
People come up to us in Italy and they say, ‘Why you no play Bang! Ees my very favourite song!’ And I just find it impossible to continue the conversation. I don’t think you can get it right every single time. You just have to hope it’s right more often than not."
nme 1995
Well I love this song. Bands are notorious for hating their own stuff in hindsight. It's the fans that matter.
@androconium what *is* he wearing anyway?
@@seanjohnson3401 Good question! A Halloween mask of some sort...................?
26 years later he might think different
Sounds similar but not the same fools gold the stone roses.
I just want his voice in m' head on a constant.
Carole-Rose Wilkinson well said
This songs been in my head for a week now....had to pump this up in the automobile tonight!
graham is so fucking cute bye
In The Graham's room: Beatles for Sale, Bob Dylan's Blondie On Blondie, Forever Changes (Love) and Time Vaults, of Van Der Graaf Generator.
graham looks so cute n precious,,, wow i love that man
I overlooked this Song when listening to Leisure, how could it happen? Now, years later, I really love it ❤
Justine is in the video if you look closely (she's sitting at the table opposite Damon and Alex at 1:00), and the Centre Point building Damon and Graham are standing in front of at 0:34 was designed by her father.
Nice catch!
I love how the riff seems to change when the drums come in depending on how you've heard it.
*inhales*
Alex James
Pls someone talk about Dave, he IS too cute!
I need a video just Dave doing stick tricks and Alex playing bass
ah yes a raging cocaine addict
Dave has had the same face forever. I believe Dave is a vampire.
no
15 minutes and they still write better music than a majority of the shite today.
yeah but these days not a lot of people appreciate songs like this.. it makes me sad lol
It only got worse didn’t it?
Still true, 12 years after you wrote that comment.

God it can't get any more British than this.

Maria Tereza Obrigada :p
One of my favourite Blur songs. One of their most underrated. To this day I still don't know what an S.D.T. is...
looked it up cause i got curious, too. apparently it’s “sensory deprivation tank”
@@cheeseball94 Ha - I thought it must be something I just don't get because I'm not British!
Southern District Train
I love the nocturnal-yet-upbeat aura of these early 90s UK rock videos. It's as if they sensed something BIG was coming later on in the decade, and it did. Little did we know, Blur would be at the genesis, forefront, and end of such an era, and would regroup over a decade later with more musical triumphs!!
damon is my dream boy 😧
I was in my second year of high school when this came out and I got my driver’s license. I used to listen to this everyday on my way to school. I really wanted to drive around all day listening to the album.
Gotta love London in the 90s!
I swear I thought the lyric was "Sitting in an STD" 😂
I was on a field trip in 94 with this in my cassette walkman out on a Long Island catholic retreat. Memories.
they have an amazing guitar player
You mean Graham Coxon?
I know Damon and I think the other 3 members hate this song, but I reckon it's actually one of the most interesting and complex "baggy beats" songs they made during the time...which isn't a high bar to pass considering it's baggy music.
This song has more lyrics than most on Leisure, and some cool lead and bass guitar parts. Plus, I think the intro to the song is surprisingly captivating.
There's still many songs Blur made during the time that are much better, but I don't think this is bottom-of-the-barrel material.

such a stone roses feeling to it, nice tune.
they should have kept with that swingy sound longer... Leisure is a great album
+Nelson DaSilva Same feeling here, really underrated album.
Yeah they totally dis-own this period. Damon says this album is an awful mistake. They didnt even play "bang" when they played all the singles live in 1999!
They did, it just wasn't in the official DVD
Yeah...but all those bands had that kind of beat. Soup Dragons Charlatans etc this album rocks btw ...
Ever listened to the b-sides of the time? They did keep, for about 2 years.
HELP DAMON DANCING IN THIS VIDEO 😭😭
2:07 just imagine it with "Im a Scatman", and it will be a meme
First Blur album, so Madchester and brilliant
They’re all gorgeous
You're so right though
My favorite Blur song I've heard so far.

Listening to this on New Years has been the best decision of my life.
I love how the music video to this and Tomorrow Comes Today is so similar, very underrated Blur song if you ask me!
Another world I haven't been to in a zillion years...my favorite song on this album...Sigh...made me feel so good about everything I felt in the world and myself...
Been a fan for years
So loose
And being a Manchester guy
There’s a undoubtably late 80’s Manchester sound to this
I want to be 20 in London in 1991. Lets get this to 1 million.
this obsession with wanting to be us is creepy
Me too
@@moreodat479 What's so strange about wanting to experience a particular place at a particular time? Would you not have wanted to experience a live Beatles show if given the opportunity? Or witness the birth of Punk Rock in NYC/London in the late seventies? Sorry I'm from Oklahoma and am envious of areas of the world that are more cultured.
I was, literally. Saw Charlatans in London, and Blur in Ipswich. Tickets for Blur cost 12 quid at the time. Timeless and priceless.
same :(
I recently discovered this song and I've come back to it every morning since
