It's almost ridiculous how gorgeous he was in the 90s, I mean he's still handsome but it's distracting on here and the music is rather secondary. On the other hand he put off his arrogance as he got older and his music definitely got better.
I met him at an aftershow party in the leadmill in 1995 (great escape tour), FTR he wasn't ever 'arrogant' with me, or fans, or people he knew liked him/his music. I think he was just edgey around journos/the press because he was always waiting for a stich up job from them (he actually said the words "they build you up to knock you down" and "we're not part of britpop that's the bluetones etc" so it shows how he was cautious of the media. He chatted to me (just a fan at the time) for 30+ minutes in a small bar and answered everything I asked, shook my hand, did the 'cheers' thing with his beer bottle and even asked me questions about if we thought it was good enough (the gig) he wasn't sure about the sound that night, rolled up his grey Adidas top sleeve to show me a graze on his elbow he got when falling back at the end of the universal where he lies on the floor! Very open and chatty. If anything Alex was far more aloof and arrogant when I met him (at the time but not now) but Damon had been in the firing line as the frontman for a while and probably got a bit defensive. Graham was cool too, talked about his guitars (drunk) without telling me to go away... /essay over. Damon Rocks!
Mathieu Mclean he's blessed with naturally wavy hair. Straight fringes like that don't work unless you've got some natural wave/curve in your hair. Liam Gallagher has similar hair to Damon - he also has slightly curly hair. So it also works. Most people have very straight hair, so this look doesn't work as well. I'm a hair dresser by the way👍 and have cut many people's hair like this. As I said, you have to remember, you won't look like Damon unless you have similar hair - a bit of natural wave, and bounce 👍
Mathieu Mclean You can manufacture wave/curls though. "Rat" your hair. By that I mean blow dry it with some mouse/hair spray, messing your hair as you do it. Really ruffle it as you dry. This was probably in the midst of Damon's darker period where the Blur V Oasis rivalry had people shouting abuse at him in the street. The band were also becoming disillusioned with spearheading the britpop sound and the scene that surrounded it. His avoidance of the Brit awards highlights the fight or flight mode of his psychological state. Rest assured, Damon, your band will go down as one of the greatest british bands of all time.
@@theoriginaloutlaw No doubt. Oasis were creatively deceased after less than 18 months in the public eye (1994-1995), putting out only re-heated, regressive musical embarrassment thereafter. Although 2003 marked the end of "full-time" Blur, the band have made quality, eclectic music since 1990.
Steven Fry has an amusing story about encountering what he saw as two extremely attractive, if dishevelled, young men at the Groucho Club in the early 90's. I don't think he was necessarily trying to creep on them, more bask in their beauty. In any case he approached them to see if they needed any help in terms of applying for a membership given his status as a member. What he didn't realise at the time was that the two men in question were Damon and Alex, who were in the middle of the Britpop explosion, and they clearly didn't need to borrow someone else's social cache to join a club.
