    I run dance plugs because I’m a JB/rhythm skater. It’s definitely trickier making a stop without stops. I primarily use the T at the rink or carve into a small circle if I’m not going terribly fast. The T is harder to do with my outdoor setup though because I am running softer wheels and can be more difficult on abrasive surfaces and they may want to skip. Learning to switch to a run and jog to a stop in some grass isn’t a bad idea outside especially in public where you can get caught in a pinch. I’ll kind of sidestep it.

Your videos have helped me to transition from inline skates to quads and I am so grateful 😊💜 I am continually building my skills getting better and better more stable and confident on my rollerskates and loving it... your videos are helping me to become a better skater and am slowly, gradually overcoming the fear of falling. We don't have a rollerskating rink anywhere near us (have no access to lessons, your videos are my lessons🥰), so I do all outdoor skating, love your video on downhill controlling speed, turns and stopping, that is my safety go to... without this video I may have killed or permanently injured myself by now 😲 , Big Thanks and hugs🙏 🌸💜🥰 Di, Newcastle NSW Australia 🇦🇺

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some skaters like to skate without toestops as it enables them to do some moves easier. For example, Jam and rhythm skating skills. Until you start this type of skating I’d recommend leaving your toe stops on especially if you’re skating outside. They can come in very handy. All the stops in this video can be done with and without toe stops.

    Isn't the spinout stop theoretical the best way to stop for the endurance of your wheels? BC your wheels condition is pretty important when it comes to roller skating, right? But it's a pain in the ass for me to learn this technique.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most stops are ok for wheels. The t stop can make flats if you’re not careful to use more of a v position. Just avoid using the edges / sides of the wheels as this will make flats. The front inner wheels tend to get the most wear so just rotate those occasionally.

  • @kiwipop2962

    I have somehow learned to go down hill using the plough, it really helps me stay in control of my speed. Are you supposed to do that? I saw in one vid you used a t position.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can absolutely use what works for you. Lots of people love the plough but I’ve never been a huge fan. Just personal preference it’s a great stop.

    I'm having heaps of trouble learning to skate down hill backwards stagger using toe-stop, I can't keep my feet straight , either one or both feet begin to turn to an angle so I will end up going off to the side of the hill/road. I need this skill for outdoor skating in a group. 🤔 Do you have any tips on how to practice/build my feet strength to be able to keep both feet straight in down hill stagger? P.s. saw your below reply 'New video downhill in progress coming soon' can't wait 😊💜 Di, Newcastle NSW Australia

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The downhill video is live I’ll get a link for you. The trouble with backwards is you have to look over your should and as soon as a skater does that it pushes the weight over and we veer off to one side. I have a backwards video which will help with that too. Let me grab the links.

    Hi, Katie, here is a huge fan of Yours from Warsaw, Poland. I have a technical question. I find it hard to take full control of my roller skates. Lately I have discovered that while standing on flat surface, not all four wheels are touching the ground. So, they are a little bit unstable, shaky. Do you think this can be a reason why I am unable to keep control of my roller skates?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be a good idea just to check that the cushions are sitting in the cushion cups correctly. It doesn’t matter if all wheels don’t Touch when the skate is empty but they should touch with your weight in them.

    • @Skatie

      It really depends how much you rely on them. If you use them a lot then the transition will be harder than it would for someone go never really used them to begin with.
